I would not buy a membership or free trial because they have scammed so many people its unbelievable they are still in business. If you have an Amazon account they are able to obtain your account information and continue charging you with an unauthorized debit card. My husband was somehow signed up for a trial without his knowledge and when the debit card he used was cancelled they were somehow able to obtain my debit card information from Amazon even though his membership used a different email address and he is not an authorized user on my checking account. When I cancelled my debit card so that they could no longer use that, they were able to obtain my new debit card number from my Amazon account again and start charging it. It wasn't un till I got on this site that I figured out that audible was an Amazon company and they share information without authorization. I am looking into legal action. I have been charged for the past year after thinking that the problem was resolved. They did refund four payments but I think I may be out hundreds of dollars. CANCEL YOUR AMAZON ACCOUNT AND STAY AWAY FROM AUDIBLE!
My membership is $14.95 per month, and you receive one credit for a book each month. There's no annual fee, just the monthly fee. I think they may have other membership options. The one credit you receive can be used on any audiobook whether it's normally $30 or $5. I don't know about membership cancellation. I haven't had a need or desire to cancel mine. I'm sorry I can't help you there.
