No, CheckThem does not write reviews for itself. In fact, quite the opposite-- a lot of these comments seem to be from competitors.

Hi. The trial period is indicated as follows on our pages: "$2.99 for 5 days, then $19.99/mo". You will be billed on the 6th day. For example, if you sign up on September 1st you will be billed on September 6th, then every 30 days thereafter. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. Thanks!

Hi Jeff. You can search social media with your account. The only extra fee reports ($19.99) is to search Bankruptcies and Liens (which we have to pay for). Everything else is included.
