The site was designed as cheaply as possible, especially due to 2 acquisitions of the platform. Nothing was properly designed with the students properly in mind, entire assessments and instructions aren't properly reviewed to ensure the student is learning something.
Honestly I don't have much of an answer for you besides that it is terrible for students and teachers never have a problem because they don't see it from our end. I'm behind by an entire semester and I'm taking chemistry because my guidance counselor pressured me into it. Talk about bad influences.
As a classroom teacher I found once I learned how to use one feature such as running the reports, other activities such as assigning work was easy to do.
As a teacher I have found very few issues. The biggest challenge is when a student is uploading an assignment that is not automatically graded. All my students also have my email so they just email me a copy of the assignment then I give them full credit. The work around issues is best done through the teachers.
