LA T, what did you do about correcting the memorial? It would be a simple matter, but there is a procedure to follow.

JOIN THE CLUB, Betty C. I have nothing to do with this Findagrave... all buy wanting the site now taken down and dissolved.
If you read above, similar was done with our own Mother, but we did not submit A THING... it was all done by one person that we do not even know and YES... WITHOUT PERMISSION. She has our Mother not only buried in the wrong cemetery... but in the wrong STATE. A man who must work with her took a picture of the WRONG CEMETERY and placed it with the info about our Mother.
We are, to say the least, very upset with this IRRESPONSIBLE site.

I submitted the info for the Quigley/Mcphail grave site in Pine Grove cemetery in Brookline, NH. I DID NOT however submit the photo. I want to know who did this as it was done without my permission or knowledge. Thank you

Someone copying an online cemetery index has added a memorial for my son I flipped out that she was using his life as a number and asked her to take it down. Realizing I should not have gotten upset I apologized for getting upset and asked her to take it down again its still there. That's not ok =( its not ok that i cannot get my sons number memorial removed. They deleted the one i made for him and now a number person remade it with nothing about him

The information from the database is the main concern, where it goes, to who/whom and for how much $ are they selling the death data from these millions of people they are 'cataloguing'. It's apparent they are receiving news of new deaths from whatever sites are giving out that information (public death announcements, obits?) and seem to have a team of those in constant search of new deaths to create memorials for. You can also upload entire lists of names for easier application. What's even scarier to me is that my own family tree has just over 20k individuals, and the majority of these people are descendants of just 2 people from the 1760's (others being spouses and parents/ancestors of spouses or cousins to those), but there are those on f. A. g. Who have well over this number of memorials under their belt, probably 90%+ aren't even related, and they tell you this isn't a family tree service, yet we have more people under our care that aren't related to us than you do on your family tree who are related. That is horribly wrong. Our ancestor's names then become numbers. No longer are they precious memories or stories, but trivial data collected into a database for sale to whomever wishes to purchase that data for their own businesses. Genealogy is a hobby and pastime, not a business. People want to be able to discover their roots, not have those roots ripped out from under them because of the immoral disservice done by website's like f. A. g. And its constituents that claim they own anything that relates to you if it just so happens to be in their numbers.

It is amazing to me that people who can't figure out how to obey the rules on a website feel used and abused when the website puts and end to their usage. People READ the FAQ... they will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know to decide if this is the website for you. Not every website fits the needs of every user. When you start using a website and expect it to change to meet your needs you are going to be DISAPPOINTED! So MANY of the complaints that are addressed here could have been solved by simply knowing what your rights are, knowing who to contact, being patient when you do contact. FINDAGRAVE is a GRAVE REGISTRATION WEBSITE! Use it for that purpose and you will be VERY happy. Try to use it to build you family tree and freak out when you can not get an OOG (out of guidelines) transfer. Your not going to be happy. The problem is in YOUR expectations, not with the website!

The find a grave administration laughs in the faces of those who file complaints with the Better Business Bureau. They could care less about their BBB rating.

There is no other web site that serves as a genealogical register of burials, though there are some other sites that do have compiled lists of what is just available on the marker or headstone. Our case (my father and I) is currently being reviewed by the Better Business Bureau.
I have just updated my review with additional information.

I just finished reading your review and what an ordeal! Is this the only website out there that does this type of work? I wasn't even aware until today that a site like this existed.
