I've sent many messages ... they're not obscene or suggestive, pushy or obnoxious, just simple, friendly communications ... but I get almost zero replies. Is that typical, or am I doing something wrong?

No, you're doing anything wrong. This is a total scam site. I show I've had 87 views, without 1 contact. I have contacted several people & wound up with a scammer from this site asking me for $25,000. Per Our Time's instructions, I reported it, but never heard from "so called investigator". STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE.
