Websleuths is the trailer trash version of the worst tabloid you can think of. Grab a bottle of jack, put your teeth in a glass, and settle in for the lowest IQ discussion you've ever had in your life. And if you deviate by more than +10 IQ points, you will be banned immediately. Not exaggerating. Lmao

Absolutely idiotic forum. Everything others have said is true. The most childish, petty, inconsistent moderators you can imagine. This site serves absolutely no use beyond that of the comment section on an article and a showcase of the profound media illiteracy of a particular demographic.

I was timed out and then asked for a ban after *politely* suggesting that a misleading thread based on debunked (and slanderous) misinformation should be adjusted. "Do not tell us how to do our job! We've been doing this since 1995!" Yep. Websleuths: Slandering people and spreading rumors since 1995.

I just signed up with this site and it says "you have insufficient privileges to comment". Ok. Well. Why? Can't even find the answer to this... and there is no search area either (for cases or help). Total crock!

Those handful old timers are outrageously intolerant of any new member disagreeing with their theories. If you have more brain cells than them, you are an enemy and will soon find yourself unwelcome, complained about, and eventually banned (it doesn't take long). They keep it their own littler paradise.

Logged on today for the last time. Intelligent members are being kicked out left and right, traffic is plummeting, opinions are stifled by the moderators, and the owner is only concerned with her YouTube channel. In my (close to) 6 years as a member, I have seen it all. Many members I've talked to agree that things have never been this bad. There is a climate of fear thanks to the Nazi like moderation of Silly Billy. I regret to admit that I have donated money in the past, but definitely never will again. Time for a new owner who actually cares about her members, and not lining her pockets with donations. This site could be great with a little effort and a lot of house cleaning. Good riddance.

This forum style site is supposed to be for people who have an interest in real life crimes. While the site does feature real crimes as the previous reviewer said, the majority of people on there jump on the bandwagon of 'guilty until proven innocent'. Not only that but it appears that none of the people who frequent this forum appear to have jobs, lives or families because they seem to spend hours dredging up things which they have no proof has any relation to the actual crime itself. Many times they write one sided arguments, forgetting what they write is published for the entire world to see online, without solid knowledge the people they are writing this negative stuff about had anything to do with the crime in question. If you try and reason or put forth a balanced analysis you are banned from the forum. I would recommend staying away at all costs!

As a new member, I was booted for not knowing the rules fast enough for SillyBilly. I've attached our conversation for your viewing pleasure. If he treats all new members this way, it's no wonder the site is riddled with ads and hasn't improved in years. (I joined the site in 2015 to leave a comment, I didn't actively use it until this week). I hope someone with some sense revokes his Admin privileges. He's keeping educated and well-meaning members out of the loop.

I've been a member for 9 years, but have barely posted anything on the main forum for months because I'm afraid of being kicked out. I used to love posting there but things have gotten really strict. Most of my friends don't even bother posting anymore either. I think the head moderator called silly billy is now in charge of the site. He/she is truly awful. Reddit is better.

Don't even dream of voicing your own intelligent opinions. Here is a quote from a recent post by a member there, verbatim:

Self-explanatory? State an opinion that does not agree with the crowd, and you are guaranteed to be told you don't belong there.

90% of content is speculation and repeating misinformation. 5% is social interaction and telling off topic personal stories. Might as well look on Facebook. The only way to figure out what the 5% useful info is, go find it yourself anyway.

I like to follow True Crime (past and present) strictly for informational purposes, and I thought Websleuths would be an interesting and informative site to either learn about some cases I was unaware of, and or search for others I had some knowledge of. I eagerly registered with the site but once I began searching, I found the site's over all design to definitely not be user friendly in the slightest. The interface looks 20 years out of date, and the site navigation is clunky, among other faults. This site has potential if it could be brought up to current web design standards but until then, I'm probably not going to waste my time here.

I asked websleuths to close down an account then opened a new one with a new email which I was using for a few Months. They suddenly banned me for having multiple accounts with no warnings or explanation. So if someone changes their email provider and sets up a new account they are basically banned from websleuths.

Beware the only motivation behind the owner and the site is to scam as much money as possible out of gullible groupies. I know for a personal fact that this broad is in debt up to her eyeballs. If it were not for the kindness of others she would be living in a cardboard box! A sucker is born every second!

This is one of the most useless boards on the internet. They shut people down that have a differing view, they are horrid toward the family or friends of the arrested and have pure white hatred for anyone arrested b/c they are guilty, in their minds, without even a trial. Just as bad as the old Topix Site long ago.

I have seen The bullying for years on this site. What credible Crime site is constantly begging for contributions from it's members claiming gloom and doom on a regular basis? There are links to gofundme even in the crime threads. Members beware.

Join, watch, listen. If you choose to comment, then expect the ego's to reply with dribble and ridiculousness, it's a competition to attempt badly to come up with better ideas than the police, to justify their presumably sorry lives. Ok for a giggle and it will certainly make you appreciate yourself, but, then delete...

Mods are inconsistent with how they treat members. Will censor your post for arbitrary reasons, pointing to a convoluted and vague set of rules that you should have followed. Very cliquey and unwelcoming. Avoid.

Mods are censoring posts for the most stupid reasons. Seriously, after some time on boards you get scared to post anything because you never know what will be classified by the mods as rude or TOS breaking. Then bigger absurdity is deleting your account... oh my. I got fed up with being treated as a troll, despite of not doing anything particularly wrong, so I asked the mods to delete my account (you can't do this on your own there). They didn't, just replied that my account will be deleted if I'll keep breaking TOS. I asked for the second time - the silence was deafening. OK, so I did as they suggested, broke as many rules at once as possible and got a lifetime ban (yay!) but guess what, got called an attention seeker in a vitriolic goodbye message from mods. Insanity.

This website is not really about sleuthing it is about controlling a tight narrative that is shaped by the owners and moderators political and social bias. It prides itself on being "tightly moderated" but the moderation results in outright censorship especially when you see reasons for moderators deleting posts only apply when the wrong opinion is given seeing as how the "right" opinions are never censored meeting the very same criteria. If you disagree with their narrative you will be censored as "bickering." Don't come here if you expect an open forum about missing people and crime or you will be severely disappointed. Somebody needs to create a new equitable crime discussion website that does not censor the members.

I have to agree with ALL the negative other reviews of this site. The moderators are all on a power trip (especially silly billy, you only need to read their posts to realise what a complete fool this moderator is). Considering it's supposed to be a sleuthing site, bizarrely, on the threads you are not allowed to sleuth anything. Everything must be backed up by news media articles and if they are not you get put on a time out. Your not allowed to post any rumours that you've heard, sleuth any of the families or friends, pretty much everything is banned.
The moderators are completely biased also towards certain members, and they seem to hate the brits for some reason? Honestly don't bother. Awful site.

These people are lunatics who whip up fear of others - blacks especially, but also other POC, gays, liberals, drug users, anyone who isnt basically Anita Bryant - and tell filthy lies about victims, their family members, and suspects.

Every family member of a murder victim has had one of these despicable evil ghouls sniffing around them. They are a pack of monsters.

Websleuths is run by childish moderators and people too lazy to properly research. It's just a vanity forum in which half the members post twaddle with zero effort to solve cases. Most don't even bother to read news reports about the cases they discuss. You won't find any actual sleuthing - they actually ask each other for info that they're too lazy to read on news sites. It's that bad!
