The Global Counterfeit Economy

The global counterfeit and pirated goods market has been on a steady incline through most of the last decade. Although counterfeit and pirated goods are extremely difficult to track, the OECD has done the hardwork of determining which countries are mostly likely to export counterfeit goods. Using their data we created this map which reveals the countries with the highest counterfeit exporting propensity, as well as the size of the global counterfeit goods industry – both as a dollar figure and as a percentage of total global trade.
