I left the UAE 6 months before my lease contract expired because my old contract was canceled and I got a new contract outside the country. ADCP NEVER informed me of the termination process, and the person at counter #8 (Vacate desk) kept telling me to send emails. The emails were not responded to except to send them proof of my new contract (which I sent immediately).
I was told to get an ADDC clearance certificate in order to terminate the ADCP contract - but you cannot get it until you cancel the ADCP contract. I got a 'to whom it may concern' letter from ADDC and ADCP desk #8 told me that I would receive termination paperwork in an email. This was days before I left the UAE. I never received the email.
Over the next few months, I tried to cancel the contract from outside the UAE. However, ADCP did not answer emails, and my friends who tried to assist me were told that they could not help me because they needed a power of attorney from the embassy. I also found out (not from ADCP) that I had to log into the Smarthub application to cancel my contract. However, you cannot log into Smarthub from outside the UAE. I then mailed my UAE phone to friends in the UAE so they could use may UAE Pass to log into Smarthub -- but that could not be done because my UAE ID had been canceled. The bottom line is it is impossible to cancel the contract -- and ADCP does not care.
I had to pay for the rest of my contract in order to prevent being referred to a judicial case. After paying, ADCP sends emails telling me that I need to renew my contract and set up Smarthub account. As if I would ever consider it.
If you ever have a chance to lease from ADCP -- RUN - do not walk -- to the next apartment. Any extra fees are worth the hassle of dealing with that company that does not care.
Do not deal with ADCP (Abu Dhabi Commercial Properties) - they do not care for you. All they do is trap you in a lease and hold you for ransom.
