Recently, my family discovered someone has been using information about my late Aunt and writing what they consider to be "poetry". My Aunt's name is Cheryl L Wilcox, the person who is writing this stuff goes by "CraigZaidel", (approximately 4 months ago). If this person does not stop, we will conduct further investigation(s) and press charges slander. Please take this as an extremely serious ONE time warning. Anyone willing to help will be greatly appreciated.
This site is B. S. It's full of low self esteem having groups, simple advice stick to yourself they also have women of the site the regulars who work on new male poets emotions they whole time they plagerize your work. It's high school all over again, it's debauchery if they don't understand you or if your a better poet they hate and fear you. Watch out for the make up dump truck who speaks with fork tongue keep to yourself u will be ok just write don't make friends
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience :( On the contrary, making friends and connecting with other poets is one of the best ways to build your readers and get more feedback on the site...
The website is a social networking place for radicals that other social media sites would ban instantly. For a poetry site to have a place called "The Adult Pub" which consists of members who say racist things and promote antisemitism. I have been told numerous times by the site owner that it isn't a part of the website, yet there is a direct link. Instead of ownership removing a pointless aspect of a poetry website, he and his moderators simply allow radicalism to grow and spread their hatred.
I wouldn't spend a dime on this website until such things are removed. You are better off joining a Facebook poetry group or another website that doesn't foster white nationalists, nazis and other forms of bigotry and racism.
Sorry you had a bad experience. The "radicals" as you call them used to cause problems in the poetry areas of the site (the real site!) so, exiling them to the mean forum worked well. While that forum is not moderated, if there's something you feel needs removing, you can still contact our moderators and they'll take action if something is breaking our rules. We don't tolerate racism or anti-seminitism.
It's funny how the owner and his family advertise AP as a blog dedicated to poetry from my recent experience is nothing more than a page for more gratuitous online adds. Badly kept and badly directed AP has nothing to do with poetry is just a scam against self deceiving amateurs and wannabe writers.
Fairly new to the site, but I will say it has a very toxic community. Saw a piece I like where a person started harassing and trolling this user, failing to give a decent comment. Multiple people called this person out, including myself. I also reported it. The message I got was, and I quote,"Bullying a bully is bad too". This site would rather protect a bully instead of applying the decent thing to do, like banning the person or something. If you want to be freely harassed then this is the site for you.
Sorry you had a bad experience in this case :( We don't allow harassment on the site - and that includes people jumping to defend someone who doesn't want defending. The commentor in this case DID get in trouble as well, but your responses were definitely bullying as well, so it ended up complicated :(
The owner of the website recently did an upgrade that changed the site. Users lost a lot of things that were enjoyed on the old site and more and more bugs keep popping up with the new upgraded site. Many people have complained about the upgrade and have even threatened to leave. We have even contacted the owner of the site. He has chosen to ignore our complaints and it would seem that he doesn't really care how the majority of the site feels about the upgrade or what happens to the site. He also refuses to give any refunds to paying users who would like to leave prior to their full month of membership being up becuase of the upgrade. AllPoetry used to be a wonderful site that I recommenced to many people who wished to publish their literary works online and have fun in the process, but now I recommend staying away from the site and leaving the site if you already use it.
This guy deleted my poetry said he couldn't get it back I was too while 100 poems I rolled the site has many fans. He blocked and hid my poems. He took from my future if writing and my fans base. This site is disgrace. Use have copy write not that's my even in the label. I would not trust this site.
I'm not sure what your account name is, but the #1 cause of this is usually folks accidentally making a second account when their poems are on the other account. We haven't had any data loss or been hacked in our 22 years in operation. Make sure you use a unique password for each site and/or check https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to see if another site has compromised that login/password combination.
The longer I was there, the less enamored I was with the results. It is unique social media site, for sure, run mostly by AI. Don't go there to learn how to write better poetry because no one bothers to give critiques, even if you ask for them. They are busy making short admiring comments and giving likes, so you will do the same for their poems. Hence members who have made 40,000+ comments and written 20,000 "poems." You can "follow" your fave poets. A kind of mutual admiration society. They do offer a couple of writing classes, but I found those also did not offer much in the way of insight into the process of writing. Same old stuff. AllPoetry has "autorank" which gives a numeric value to each of your poems, if you care to look it up -- all per an AI algorhithm. And what poet wants an artificial valuement of his very human creative product. There is definitely egalitarianism, which means anyone can post almost anything in any form for public consumption. That doesn't mean it is poetic, which is a shame. It does mean the site is fairly worthless if you are a serious poet. There is so much junk it is like looking in a city landfill for that diamond ring you lost. If you want to write, write for yourself. Take a university course in poetry writing and/or poetry appreciation. If you want a different type of social media that is nevertheless just as superficial as all the other social media, this might be the place for you. And, after all, it is free unless you want to jazz up the background colors or the font. Isn't that what poetry is about?
Sorry to hear you had a rough experience. We definitely try to break through the "cliques" that can form with longtime members of a community, but it can be hard! Autorank is an optional thing, but it can help break through the cliques you're complaining about by helping to make sure that each active user, for example, has a good chance to get a poem on the front page. About half our front page picks are by a community member that changes every 2 weeks (human bias) and half by an algorithm (machine bias) - this helps split the difference. I also suggest one of the great courses for learning poetry, but there's no substitute for feedback and encouragement from your peers. Regarding paid memberships - exactly - all the important features are included on the free membership. Most folks are free, and some choose to support the site and get jazzy colors and fonts. We're proud to be a 100% free site with optional memberships.
AllPoetry ( allpoetry.com) Is a wonderful place to learn and grow as a poet. It's huge knowledge base, is my go to, when I want to learn something new. Its members are warm and welcoming and its never ending supply of contest's and groups is enough to keep any writer focused and engaged for a very long time. I have been a member for well over ten years. Not a day goes by that I don't spend some time there, reading and sharing with other poets. Anita L.
Thanks for your warm words Anita and thanks for being a part of such an awesome community. We appreciate you :)
I've been submitting poems to AllPoetry for two years. AllPoetry
Encourages and motivates through its user contests where points are
Awarded. The points enable other writers to hold contests. I haven't
Ever experienced any of the negatives other writers complain about.
Sometimes I buy a Silver membership (which is quite reasonable) and
Never have had trouble cancelling and restarting it. Sure, it would be
Nice to receive more constructive criticism in the comments, but since
Most people on there are probably "amateurs" like myself, we don't feel
Qualified to be too critical. If you just want to have fun, have your
Voice heard by a few other writers, and be encouraged and motivated, AllPoetry is good site for you. It is also the most user friendly writers site I've visited.

Answer: Over 400,000, with about 50,000 active in the last two weeks. A lot!
Answer: You award them to users who comment on your post. Or you can create contests and use points for prizes
Answer: If you visit a person's profile page and click message, then 'history' you can see deleted messages with that user.
Answer: There's an export link on list pages in the right column to do this...
Answer: Usually this means javascript is misconfigured or broken on your computer. Try resetting your security settings to the default, and make sure your browser has all the latest updates. Comments need to be made from the "now comment" page, vs. clicking titles to comment...
Answer: For the required two comments after commenting? They have to be done from the "now comment" page, maybe that was the problem. Or the javascript on your computer messed up for some reason... Hopefully you got it working :)
Answer: Yes, you keep copyright to your poems and are free to post, publish, or share them elsewhere. You can see our terms of use link, click Help / Contact us at the bottom of the page if you want to see the gory details.
