Don't go to AMC Burbank 16
April 3, 2021

I have been going to this theaters for many years now. Due to COVID and my age, I wear a mask and neck gaiter for the double protection for being around people. When I got out of the bathroom after getting there, one of their personnel, possible their manager, told me that my double coverage is not good enough for them. I had to take off my protection and use their N-95 mask. I asked the guy if I can double up on mask and said I could wear my mask over that one and he said yes.

If that wasn't bad enough, I thought they spaced out people in the theaters. Then why was someone sitting directly behind me? Do I feel safe without my extra layer of protection? Hell no! I put on my neck gaiter since this guy behind me sounded like he was eating, thus no mask.

When I got out of the theater, I wanted to tell the manager about the seating arrangement. He wasn't there so I rather warn all you people of what to expect when you go here; possible COVID infection because I can't wear my extra layer of protection and they can't enforce the spacing in their theaters.

I've visited AMC Fresh Meadows 7 ever since it was refurbished with super-plush seating & expensive concession treats and saw more than 50 movies at that venue. My husband and I had the misfortune to pick a film and a day where the cashier didn't warn us that the volume of the movie we were going to see, Nope (dir. By Jordan Peele), was playing. We were 2 of the 6 customers in that particular theater (it's a multiplex). I was blasted out of my seat by the unbearable/intolerable volume level and the addition of closed captioning at the bottom made it impossible to stay and watch the film. Another couple followed us out.

We went back to the cashier and questioned her silence about the eardrum-splitting volume and closed caption. She was unbothered and stated that 'sometimes that happens as if it's OK to spend $15/ticket to be tortured. We got our money back, but no apology and just a shrug when I asked her why she didn't tell us. There was no sign, no signage, no warning anywhere that ear-splitting volume and/or closed-caption was the order of the day!

I followed that up with a call to the manager who initially refused the call. When she did take the call she was combative, cut me off several times, was not apologetic and eventually - hung up. What little I did glean from her rudeness and response was that I should've received a refund and passes for another showing. I did not get an offer of any passes nor an apology at the time we were at the theater.

This manager refused to give her name - perhaps out of guilt or perhaps out of her rude business manner or lack of giving a damn. The ticket prices, the extremely unpleasant movie experience, and the manager who should be fired will forever keep us from that theater again. If you don't mind having your eardrums blown and your wallet emptied, only then would I suggest you visit this horrible theater. Otherwise, I'd frequent places where they value your business. Evidently, this is not the place that values good customer service or customers at all!

Usually I like to watch movies in the comfort of my own home. But sometimes there's a new release that I can't wait to see until it's available on the streaming services, so I go to my nearby AMC Movie Theater. I usually regret it because every time I go, the theaters are so stuffy I can hardly stand it!. The hallways and the lobby have nice flowing air, but not the theaters. This is sort of like false advertising IMO. I told guest services that I would have come to see the movie "Nefarious" AT LEAST two more times, but it was so uncomfortable that I would wait until it hits the streaming services. She just shrugged and turned her back on me. Such arrogance! But this movie, "Nefarious" was worth the discomfort! Typically, the professional critics are out of touch with what most audiences enjoy, and this movie is no exception. After watching an interview on YouTube with Eric Metaxas and Steve Deace, author, and executive producer of the "Nefarious" film, I immediately went out to see it. In one word, WOW! Not only is it theologically and Biblically sound, but it's also just a darn good "nail biting" movie. And it doesn't have even one F-bomb. It perfectly and truthfully explains the origins of evil. In the interview, Steve Deace explained the horrific spiritual warfare he and the other members of the production crew went through when making and promoting the film. This emboldened them even more and the movie is incredible and a must see! IMO, you should see this movie just to show the dark side that their tactics don't work. I was slightly concerned that I might experience some spiritual warfare just for watching it, so I said a little prayer before going and nothing at all materialized.
