The overall reputation of the company reflects a significant divide in customer experiences. Positive feedback highlights affordable pricing and satisfactory returns through specific programs, indicating some customers find value in the offerings. However, a majority of reviews reveal deep dissatisfaction, particularly regarding customer service, with frequent complaints about long wait times, communication breakdowns, and difficulties in processing returns and refunds. Many customers express frustration over product quality and fulfillment delays, suggesting a need for improved operational efficiency and customer support. This inconsistency in service presents a challenge for the company's long-term customer loyalty.

I ordered two denim jackets after seeing the online pictures on Avxnue's website. The material is anything but denim it's cheap canvas like grocery sacks. This is a fraud clothing brand and company. I ask them to return and refund my money back but they won't buzz. I warn you please don't purchase anything from Avxnue!
Please don't fall into their trap. Everything is drop shipped from China and the quality is awful. When you ask for a refund they start by offering 25%, claim they are green and wanting to help the environment by not sending it back, then when refused the offer goes to 30%, 40% and ultimately 60% all while refusing to give you a full refund. The stuff is so bad they don't even want it back! Total junk…. But then again, you get what you pay for I suppose.
I decided to buy a dress for my sister and shoes for me. The prices are relatively cheap and it's where they caught me. However, the order arrived in 3 months, shoes are a bit smaller that it should be, and the dress's tissue looks too cheap, but I should have predicted it.
I recently bought about 115 items from avenue. Yes, 115+ different items. Over 1k (I don't even want to add it up, it's a lot of money)
I received my multiple packages and opened them up, and two clearance dresses had broken straps, two items had a horrible smell, 1 $2 item was missing, 2 items were incorrect (entirely different not just the wrong size same item) I was very disappointed but understanding, since I did buy a lot of items.
Now, out of 115 items, these were some of the least expensive items, adding up to maybe $70 total. And I sent proof, This was 100% on them, and their quality control. I wanted to send the items back and receive the items I originally ordered, I still very much wanted my items, but they said they were now out of stock. So I was given coupon codes, partial refund. One item was $20 and they gave me $10 credit for some reason, so I still feel like I lost $10 for their lack of quality control.
But the icing on the cake is the call I had with customer service. They said due to my multiple issues, for future orders I wouldn't be getting refunds/credits. Excuse me? So if you send me more damaged items or just don't send me my item at all you are telling me you won't refund? I'm being penalized because you messed up part of my orders?
I would completely expect them to be apologetic to me, after they sent me damaged items and I couldn't even receive a replacement. Honestly I am happy with the other items but knowing their quality control may send me an entirely different item, not include my item, or send something that smells like sulfur, it's just not worth the risk.
Also, I was being generous with how many items actually had issues. A pair of sandals had the color bleeding all over the material, a skirt had a stain, and a dress was obviously worn and covered in perfume, but I liked them so much I didn't even mention them, I just cleaned them up and hoped for the best. Looking back, with how they acted, I should have returned those items as well instead of putting work into keeping them, after how the company acted like I shouldn't be requesting to return the few damaged items I did request. A customer should not get damaged items and expect to just keep them for fear of being denied returns. A customer should not be getting damaged items at all.
They advertise free returns. Haha what a joke. I live in the VI and received my order almost a month after placing it and now I am in the mainland US and am being told I have to pay to return the goods. They only honor the happy returns for one month. How fair is that to get $150 back I have to pay $40 to ship the goods back. Never ordering from this site again no matter how good the prices are. What rip offs.
The worst company I've dealt with, lying, disrespectful employees, they don't comply with the rules, they violate the privacy rules with the client, they don't honor their policies, they send you torn and dirty clothes. The customer service department and its managers when answering leave you on hold for more than 10 minutes without returning to the call.
In short, do not buy in that store. Now there are much better online stores, with better prices and, above all, better customer service. DO NOT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO THAT STORE, THE CLOTHES QUALITY IS TERRIBLE!
Ordered a dress that was needed for an event way ahead of time. Won't be here due to ridiculous shipping times. Won't order again.
If I could I would give them NEGATIVE stars. I tried to get a Credit card they said to call for the information they needed. Then I called and said they don't know what to do. They know nothing. I spent 20 minutes trying to get a hold of them. They have idiots working there. I do NOT recommend shopping there or getting a credit card with this store.
Since Avenue closed their in-person shopping stores and moved to online only, their clothing choices, styles, and quality have declined. They used to have cute, stylish, quality clothing when you shopped in store. More times than not, I have had to return purchases when bought online.
My order took a month to arrive and 2 items ordered were not in stock and canceled. The 3 of 5 things that did arrive were cheaply made with awful materials and appear to be crooked on me. I will be throwing them out since I would rather not even deal with the return process since the order process was so bad. Avenue used to have very nice clothing when in stores, not sure what happened once they went online only.
I ordered a Christmas tree on 10/23/22. It said nothing about shipping from China. On 10/25/22 I received an email that it had shipped and provided a tracking number. I looked it up and that's when I discovered it was shipping from China.
The last tracking update was on 10/27/22 and it has been sitting in China ever since.
This worthless company has literally done NOTHING to help get the issue resolved. They keep giving the same copy and paste answers. Can't get a hold of them on the phone EVER.
I have asked them to cancel the order and they won't. I have asked for my money back and they won't. I keep getting told to "just wait few more days".
Well here I am over 2 months later. I still don't have my item, it's still sitting wherever in China it is supposedly coming from, and they don't want to do anything to make it right. They just want to keep copy and pasting their answer.
Do not do anything with this company. They are crooks and scam artists and should just close up shop because no company should still be in business with this piss poor customer service model.
Whatever you are wanting to order, order it from somewhere else!
I love City Chic dresses and avenue posted a discount on a dress I wanted. Total was about $30 discount. I purchased the dress and a few days it was canceled saying the dress was sold out. I continued to look at the site daily and it never showed the dress was out of stock. I contacted customer care and an associate said purchase again and provide the order number and they would refund the difference. I did this and never received a discount. I emailed and called another associate said they were just behind and another emailed saying they were not going to honor what they had promised. I'll eat the shipping and will be returning the dress. Either the associates are Morons or not trained to do their job correctly.
I've seen a lot of negative reviews but I did one online transaction with them in the past few months and it went better than that. I ordered about 6 jeggings. They arrived in a normal timeline as far as I recall. The company was reachable for me. There were some delays is getting a response to a special request.
The items looked good. I ordered a variety of sizes to find my size.
Unfortunately none of the jeggings fit me right. They were too tight in the hips and too loose in the thighs for me. Perhaps also compared to similar items sold elsewhere? Not sure. They facilitated a return. I got a refund about a day after I put it back in the mail.
The website needs to be more user friendly. Also here was an outdated customer service email on the website. Like many companies now, they sent too much marketing mail/surveys and I ended up blocking them or requesting these contacts cease. Unfortunately, that has become the norm.
Update: downgrading rating due to really aggressive spamming. Had to block their whole domain.
I love Avenue clothing and have been shopping there for probably 30 years. They no longer have any brick and mortar stores, but I was always a big online shopper, anyway. I used to take my returns to the nearest store, but when that closed, I started using their "happy returns". In July, I returned $109 worth of clothes to a FedEx location. I got an immediate email that they received my returns and that I would get a credit. It's almost 4 months later and I still don't have my credit. I charged it on my Avenue credit card. I believe both Avenue and Commenity are at fault. Commenity opened a case but said that they need Avenue to let them know they have the return and to process the refund. I finally received an email from Avenue over a month ago that they have the return and that a refund would be issued, but Commenity still hasn't processed it. I called a couple weeks ago and Commenity said my case was closed! I am so disgusted with them that I will probably never use my Avenue credit card again. In the future, if I have to return things and they don't credit me, I will dispute it with Visa and probably get a faster resolution.
I am shocked to see the negative reviews. I order all the time from them. I have found the 22/24 size to be consistent and have had very easy returns using Happy Returns. I keep in mind this is a discount clothing line. They r much better than Shein. I do not expect a Neiman Marcus experience.
I placed an order for bathing suits with extra time so I would be sure it was received before my upcoming trip. I didn't notice it was running late until a week before I had to leave and it still hadn't arrived. I logged in and tracked the package, which FedEx claimed had been delivered to my front door 5 days prior. I called FedEx because I couldn't get a hold of Avenue - they said they passed it to USPS on that date and were only the shipper for the 1st part (?) Finally got a hold of Avenue and they told me they would escalate it and to call back in 2 days if I still hadn't received it, because that was the last day in my shipping window, and I couldn't initiate a refund request unless it was still missing by then. By 4:30 of that day (Friday, Labor day weekend) still no delivery, or update and I called to start the refund process. They claimed they couldn't do anything but, re-escalate the issue, since it had already been sent to "Corporate". They couldn't provide any numbers for corporate and apparently his supervisor was also unavailable. Such a useless and frustrating experience, I will never shop here again!
I leave for my trip tomorrow and I have no suits and am out almost $200, which I have no idea when I will see. I wish I had checked these reviews before purchasing from this company that obviously does not care about their customers.
I have worked in fulfillment and sales most of my life and I know that what their choices of using contracted customer service companies and crappy, low budget shipping contracts are just more ways to cut costs at the expense of client experience.
This business is a scam… spent over $200 and they "lost" my package and won't offer a refund. It's been over two weeks and after calling them twice and DHL once they finally figured it out. Don't waste your money here.
Never received my package, it was sent back to the warehouse, but it gets better i have to wait 3~5 business days for someone to CALL ME To Authorize MY RETURN!
So I DONT HAVE MY CLOTHES, THEY WHERE QUICK AS HELL TO TAKE THE MONEY LIKE ALL COMPANYS.,,, but have to WAIT FOR A PHONE CALL FOR A RETURN!
Been waiting 7 days for the damn package, gotta wait 3-5 days for someone to cal me, nd then wait another 3-5 to get my refund! NEVER AGAIN!
Oooooo but im sure they making sure they get there PACKAGE B4 giving me a call for my refund!
Was a HORRIBLE PLACE TO WORK WHEN THEY HAD ACTUAL STORES,,, nd i see NOTHING HAS CHANGED!
This company has the absolute worst customer service on the planet. It is nearly impossible to reach anyone via their phone number and while on hold for 35,45 to 60 minutes, the recording keeps referring you to utilize the live chat on the website which does not exist. Emails to their customer service address bounce back because the mailbox is full and if they don't bounce back please do not expect a reply because they don't answer any emailed inquiries.
If you place an order you can expect it to spend 6 to 7 days in fulfillment and good luck trying to reach anyone to cancel the order because if you stay on hold for an hour they refuse to cancel any orders. They will promise to send the package express mail to get you off the phone and then a day or two later you'll get an email saying that they are going to ship it standard mailing, eventually. I will never do business with this company again because of this horrible customer service.
I made several purchases, and there were several errors. After multiple calls I thought the returns were finally processed, per emails and the website. I had noticed one refund on my avenue card. I noticed a random 9.31 refund, and couldn't match it up with anything I purchased. Then I realized that the refunds for 35.40 and 14.99 were NEVER applied to my account. Avenue, you are ridiculous.
Answer: Shein, although the quality is not as good. It is cheaper and they have an excellent return policy and customer service as well. Avoid Woman Within.
Answer: Yes. Everything was above board. I got a refund the same day I dropped of my return.
