“Bumble is a Scam. Straight Up!”

James A.
9/18/22

Bumble is fake. Prior to paying for a 6 month subscription, they "claimed" that I had 10 "likes" waiting for me. After my subscription payment was processed, those "likes" disappeared. For 6 months I received only four "likes." Then, to prove it's a scam, the day after my subscription ended, Bumble tells me that I have 9 new "likes" and that I would need to purchase another 6 month subscription to view their profiles. I actually tried to cancel the subscription within 30 days of my first day with Bumble, but they refused to provide me with a refund. Bumble is a joke. Please don't waste your money. Trust me.

“Waste Of Money”

Randy P.
8/21/24

In theory, the idea behind Bumble sounds good. Women make the first move so you would think you are matched with people who are really attracted to you. Reality doesn't match up! I happen to like younger women and maybe that is just unrealistic. I can't say how many times I have been matched with women and open with a respectful or humorous line and pow-they just evaporate. This happens whether I respond either based on physical attraction or common interests. So frustrating! I receive quite a few messages from women that want money or an "arrangement." Haven't met with a single person from this site after spending lots of money. Bumble charges for almost everything like spotlights, compliments, etc. I really think money would be better spent somewhere else but unfortunately I don't find the other online dating sites much better!

I have been a member of the dating site Bumble for several years. Recently, and without explanation, they put me on 'Moderated' status. They blocked my profile name, and ability to change some of my profile. I emailed them through their website asking what the problem was, and I got no answer.

Today, 10/13/21, they totally blocked my profile, saying that there were more complaints. I have never sent anything to anyone that wasn't asked for or agreed to. EVER. And I have never threatened or been mean to anyone. In fact, my simply asking someone why they Bumbled me chases many of the fakes away. And when someone asked what 'moderated' means, I tell them I don't know and the site has never explained to me what is going on.

I want to know the exact nature of the complaints, and who made them. This is completely unreasonable.

I use bumble bff and I get a lot of matches.
BUT I will wake up to a number of matches expired even though I never got the chance to msg them in the first place!
So they will pretty much say matches expired without even giving you the chance to msg them!
I check the app every few hours and matches are supposed to last 24hrs so it's definitely a scam

Tip for consumers:
Be prepared to pay

I was on the site for 3 weeks. Not many people in my area on the site. I deleted the app. I didnt realize that I had accepted auto renew never planned to stay subscribed beyond one month. When I was charged the one month rate for the second month I politely asked for a refund. They said no. I recommend you stay away, really, they are terrible!

There are only bots on this website. The few real women on here are fat and ugly...and still have to NERVE to unmatch with you even if you are the kinda guy with a full time job, a house and multiple cars. A bunch of mouth breathing losers and bots here. AVOID.

Don't make anybody mad on here because they will report you out of spite and bumble will ban your account without review, despite saying they review it. And don't make purchases because they can ban you right after and it is non refundable. I had to order a chargeback from my bank and I suggest you do the same

Tip for consumers:
Si a bank chargeback and use tinder instead

I was blocked for talking about what I do for living. Apparently there were complaints for commercial behaviour! I mean I can swear on my life I talked about my job while I was getting to know people but I did not force anyone to spend money on anything. It's funny and stupid tbh! I never knew it is wrong to even talk about your bizz on bumble considering that there is bumble bizz in this app.

I've used Bumble on and off for 5 years with no issue. As soon as I decided to pay for premium features, I got blocked for no reason. I was kind and respectful to everyone and represented myself authentically. I'm unable to request a refund due to their policy, and they refused to provide any information as to why I was blocked. I've gone over their guidelines multiple times and am still confused how I violated any rules. So now I'm just out $50. Meanwhile, when I've received suggestive or explicit messages from men, they do nothing, and another friend of mine kept getting a photo taken down as "inappropriate" that's of her innocuously giving a male friend a piggyback. Like it's literally just two people goofing around, fully clothed, like middle schoolers? It makes no sense. Bumble is a supposedly feminist app that is actually deeply misogynistic, and from my reading it seems like they also discriminate against sex workers and people who are transgender. GROSS

I had "Biden Baby" on my bio and "liberal". Enough trumpies and conservatives got triggered and reported my profile that it got blocked by the app's algorithm.
I didn't have a single unmatch or issue on the app with anyone I talked to. I was banned by an algorithm without any human review.
I paid $20 for a 1 week sub and want a refund seeing as I had it for 48 hours.
It was extremely difficult to even find a way to contact customer service. I finally was able to contact customer service, and then was ignored.

After a month of my Asskissing to their Customer Service team, begging for a response on their Facebook and Instagram, and even then saying they escalated any issue to their "Teams", my Facebook and Instagram was blocked AND I was told that I was not welcome to have an account with them. The entire situation, caused by one of their rude and man-hating staff members had angered me in her ignorant response to demand an answer so I might fix the issue and make it right. Instead, they decide to attempt to block me on all channels to paint me as the bad guy. I'm instead going to screenshot all the conversations on my emails with them, and on Facebook and Instagram and blast it online. It's not over.

After swiping, swiping and swiping Right I couldn't get any response. The customer service ignored me. That app ripped me off.
I can't believe that I couldn't establish any conversation with some woman.
Only I ended up being molested by gay men when I already set up the app that I was a MAN looking for a WOMAN!.
Unfortunately I had to close my app because I felt stalked.

I was pretty hopeful for this app. I liked how women needed to message first, which weeded out a lot of gross comments you'd normally get. However, it was pretty inconvenient that you only had a set time to message or your match disappears. And the same goes for them to respond. If you're caught up with work/out of town that can really damper potential conversations with people. There also isn't a huge dating pool to choose from, I kept getting the same people to match with over and over again after saying no a week before. Guys also wanted a phone number/snapchat almost after the first hello. That's pretty overwhelming if you're talking to a bunch of people at once. The most concerning though was the amount of really questionable guys on it. Guys that expected a relationship after the first date, or guys jobless and living with their parents, or guys who would flip out if you didn't respond within an hour. Bad date after bad message led me to deleting the app. If you're going to try online dating I'd suggest a bigger dating site where the majority of people are looking for something, and all are background checked!

Hi Chelsea!

Thank you for your message.

We're very sorry you've had this experience with us. However, the feedbak of our users is very important for us and we will definitely use it to improve our app. Our Hive is continuously growing and we are sure it is just a matter of time until you can see more new faces. Also, if you believe there isn't enough people in yous, we would recommend to slightly widen your search criteria. It really helps!

Please rest assured that we do all we can to ensure that all users on our app are genuine. For example, we have implemented verification by photo and hace a team of moderators working 24/7 checking all the reports we receive. That being said, Bumble is open to everyone, and we do not want to discriminate users based on their gender, religion or class.

We are sad to see you going, but we can assure you that we hear your feedback and that we will do our best to make Bumble better.

This review is extremely honest, I have been on the app for approximately six years meeting people in different cities because I had a job that required me to be places all the time. After years of giving Bumble feedback, and them adjusting the app based off of my numerous emails and feedbacks Ive come to the conclusion that Bumble is just not suited for women. There have been times where I have reported numerous men who have sexually harassed me, sent racists messages, yet, all of these men were able to create 6-7 new profiles and recently I saw one this week who was able to re-create his profile as well and match with my friends. Bumble banned me for false assumptions that someone reported me as a sugar baby, without even allowing me to defend my case. Keep in mind I own my own business and have never even approached a man as such, yet they always go in the favor of the man. This app is not suited for women, and specifically not women of color or people of color because they seem to justify their decisions of safety based off of race. I have numerous friends who are also of color who have reported the same where their accounts were attentionally blocked based off of false allegations and the person who reported against them was of a different race and Bumble justified it. I have emailed them within the last year with several examples of harassment, $#*! pictures, and people saying the N-word yet these people are still on the app. They don't care about people, or their safety

Tip for consumers:
Don’t use the app

I'm not sure if bumble is struggling financially because of the current global situation but they have taken (like a few other dating apps) to misleading their customers in order to make a buck.
I have had a profile set up for a while. I have set my parameters to find a match to being within a few kms of my City. This cuts out a lot of over seas and distant match's, that imo, are generally a waste of time. Recently they added the boost' whereas if you pay a premium, you get to match with your secret admirers. Within a couple of days I had a dozen or so matches so I paid for the feature. I checked out my now uncovered list of secret admirers and was shocked to see that not one of them was in my City! They were scattered across the country and I believe a couple of them were not even in my country! I immediately contacted support (within 5 mins) asking for a refund on the basis that they had been disingenuous and had tricked me into paying for the subscription which is against consumer law in my country. They declined to refund me because I had agreed to the terms and conditions. Luckily, Apple agree to abide by consumer laws of my Country and have refunded me.
Bumble have been disingenuous and unscrupulous in their transaction with me and I would strongly recommend that people use one of the many dating apps that conduct business ethically. I gave them 1 star as I could not give them 0!

So a friend suggested me to try this app because "this app has better people, and it feels satisfying because women have to message first". Also I noticed that this app seems to be made by Badoo developer. But is it actually better? Here's what I can say:

Pros:
- Better intro from overall people that shows effort
- Different modes, not just dating
- Simple UI, not complicated and does the work

Cons:
- Forces you to use your own location and verify photo right away (okay Tinder)
- Asking women to take initiative = even less matching (for obvious reasons)
- Other modes are very unspecific, you're just thrown into pool of people who chose that mode, and you can't choose what kind of people you want to see.

In the end, for a supposedly better Badoo and trying to rival Tinder, this app just doesn't work at all. Sure there are some specific scenarios where it could work, but in general, all is wasted on forcing women to message first and turning some Badoo's free features to paid ones.

Don't rival Tinder, just be a competitor to Seeking because that's the specific scenario where this app can work

I recently downloaded bumble and at first I thought it was alright but then I noticed that they kept deleting my pictures. Here's the thing, the picture I was posting was of me, (a fit, slim woman) in a completely appropriate sized bathing suit WITH a neon fishnet suit cover/dress covering it. Now I dont even have huge breats whatsoever, if anything I'm small in all departments and the picture was candid, not trying to enhance any of my body at all but a cute picture nonetheless. So they keep deleting it. I find this to be ridiculous as I'm swiping through countless photos of women in tiny bikinis, tiny gym outfits and their breasts pushed up to their chin. Also almost EVERY man has a shirtless gym picture or bathing suit picture. So how is this fair, bumble? How is this not sexist? Because I'm attractive so the picture looks good?. I would love an answer. Otherwise I give this site the lowest rating possible and I do not reccommend using it if you're a woman who is proud of their body. Goodbye to attractive women on bumble means goodbye to MOST men. Get your policy in order or make sure its equal for both men and women of all sizes.

Manel M. – Bumble Rep

Hi Amy!

Thank you for your message.

First of all, we're sorry if our photo moderation process upset you - it was not our intention! We allow pictures of users in swimwear as long as they are in an appropriate context: our aim is to make encounters on Bumble as similar to real life as possible. This has absolutely nothing to do with how good the picture or your body looks - we welcome anyone regardless of their physical appearance! - but rather with making your experience as close to real life as possible.

These Guidelines apply to both men and women. However, please understand that we've just introduced photo moderation, so our photo moderators are checking all new photos uploaded and photos on new accounts, and also making their way through all of the photos already on Bumble, which is a huge job! They are making their way through the backlog, but there may be photos which don't fit the new moderation rules that they haven't got to yet. We have the Block & Report function so users can report someone if they feel that photo, or anything else for that matter, is inappropriate and shouldn't be on Bumble.

Finally, if you believe this was a mistake, you can send us the email address linked to your profile on a private message and we'll look into this for you.

I hope this helps!

I have been using Bumble for a while, I have had no problems until a few days ago when, while writing to a contact, all of a sudden the app kicks me out and shows me a page requiring me to verify my profile.

I contacted the support which has never replied and leaves my account open and my data, profile and pictures on the systems without my consent.

Profile verification means sending them a photo with the same posture shown on the screen. This is optional, I have never used it before and I have had no problems until now. I went to read the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions where I found that they use face recognition technology to scan your face acquiring biometric data about you.

Biometrics is like your fingerprints, highly sensitive data that uniquely identifies you. In the wrong hands, it would be disastrous.
I got concerned as I don't see the reason why I should give away such sensitive data on a social media / dating app which does not follow the strict security measures of Government systems for handling passports for example.

Since they use this technology, I have decided not to go through the verification process as I reckon is too invasive and a step too far for the purpose. I contacted support to remove permanently my account. The support doesn't seem to exist, nor do they reply to try and explain what they do, how they do it, and solve the situation. They kick you out of the app without any reason, forcing you to go through the verification process in a sneaky way.
It's worth mentioning that even fake profiles appear as "verified".

The experience with Bumble is not good unfortunately and I suggest everyone not to use their service.
I will also proceed to make sure that Bumble permanently deletes my account and my data.

I will write the same review on Google Play and other social media platforms, hoping that potential users will desist and avoid Bumble.
Real disappointment.

Tip for consumers:
I see lots or reviews with the same concerns as the ones I have expressed.
I would be happy to be contacted to find a way to force the Company to delete users' data.
The Company is acting with negligence and is unlawfully retaining users' data without their consent.
