Writing this as I stuck in the driveway because no one is directing traffic. I've even had the woman running the show see I'm blocked in, respond to me and say it's going to be a bit. I wouldn't have been so upset if I hadn't bought and paid for items, drove over and item and found out 2/3 of the items I bought weren't for sale. I was told I could go through the stuff that didn't sell but my response was I would have bought the items if I wanted them. I would have bid on other items to make sure my hour drive was worth it. Super let down and super annoyed to be stuck in the driveway for over 20 minutes now.
I tried on multiple computers to register for their website and the process doesn't work. It also says Facebook does not allow registration with this site even though they have a button to do it.
If you call their 'help desk' the person says they will register you over the phone and asks for personal information and then sends you a "code" but won't register you unless you read that 6 digit code back to them. I hung up. THIS JUST SCREAMS SCAM.
Why would they need me to read the code that they sent to me back to them?
BEWARE- YOU PAY ALOT FOR SHIPPING AND THEY THROW EVERYTHING IN A BOX NO PROTECTION AND IT COMES ALL BROKEN AND THEY DONT CARE! BEWARE OF JERROLL- PLUS NO CREDIT FOR BROKEN PIECES THAT IS THEIR FAULT - WHEN YOU PURCHASE SOMETHING FROM SOMEONE THEY SHOULD PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT - THEY DO NOT CARE- THEY SAY THEY HAD USPS PACKAGE IT - AND IT CAME IN A UHAUL BOX AND NO TAPE ON THE FLIMSY BOX AND LOST MOST ITEMS FROM THE HANDLE HOLE -
All three pickups everyone has been very friendly and helpful. Especially the wonderful lady over the Lake Norman-5 stars just for her. Great items. Not disappointed.
So far not impressed with my friend's auction. Would have been better off to sell the lot to auctioneer and be done with it. We shall see. Also everyone saying hassle to sign up.
I have purchased several items from various estate auctions on this site and have been disappointed with every purchase. I bid and won several items during a short time which is why I didn't stop buying when I realized I was being ripped off. The photos are deceiving. Items look better than they are when you receive them. I mainly purchase of designer clothes, purses, shoes, and vintage. I have gotten fakes, many misrepresented items, or just things that are falling apart and should never have been sold. When I mean falling apart, purses where the front looks good but the back (not shown in their photos is ripped, torn, etc). Leather items look nice but when you receive them are dry, cracked, and smell musty and old. The shipping is all about mystery pricing. I bought a medium size box of shirts and the shipping was $99.00. I would have expected to pay about $30.00 for shipping from any other auction. It seems that $99.00 to $150.00 is average for shipping and handling. It's CRAZY! You just get a bill in your inbox after you pay for the initial auction. There is no breakdown of charges, just whatever the shipper wants to charge you. It says for handling, materials, etc. but it's just a box. They don't fold, pack anything neatly, mix dirty shoes in with the designer clothing. It is a mess. I was truly horrified that someone put charge for packing items like this. I have stopped buying from them and chalked it up to a lesson learned.
$50 dollars shipping no insurance not packed by ups in a box 3x the size item was a hand made pottery piece that was very fragile 6x6 in diameter not even an inch of padding on the bottom of the box. I felt and heard it was broken before I even opened it... you be the judge from the photos I would post the unboxing* video but I used a little bit of profanity. This was from Cincinnati OH seller is Rose Harris *******@caringtransitions.com. I even had to send her an email telling her I had not received my auction lot 3 1/2 week after I paid shipping. She apologized and it was here the next day. I expect quality at this point for the price of this pottery. Also having shipping issues with another franchise. If they can't ship an item confidently for the price charged they need to say so. Money sucking jerks and they screw over the people that own the estate. Also notifying the BBB.
I bought some tile from them it said there would be 29 to 30 peices, when I got home there were 5 also it was listed I bought trim I get home it was a door frame! The responce I got was I should of checked my order its not his job! I'm sorry the count of flooring pieces and description is not matching what you have. Did you bring this to the attention of the pick up team during your pick up so the other pieces could be located for you? It is not my job to fix you mess up. That was the response I got! Awful just Awful! The mans name is Jeff FYI!
I bid on a stereo receiver. I won the auction 3 times. With less than a min on clock you kept moving it back to 5 min. That got me bidding more and more money. Shame on you! That's illegal
This is a horrible place for you to go for your loved ones estate. They are liars and destroy your things. Use someone else's for your own good.
Purchased many items from them and never had a problem. Shipment is always good and purchased some great items at excellent prices. Will do it any time! A+++++
Some item desciptions not accurate. Bidding pushed up but actual clients or online customers not recieving a decent value for items sold (& disappearing- taken) through CT Bids services franchise owners. Some do a better than others, but many lack experience & professional credetionals or integity! Bottomline? A rip off for clents & sincere customers looking for deals to resell or for personal collections!
Last week I was bidding on a small bedroom set in Bethel Park, PA. I had an amount in mind what I was willing to pay. As the clock counted down I started bidding only to have another "person" bidding against me. After each bid more minutes were added on. I became quite frustrated so I gave up. WHAT A SURPRISE WHEN THE EXACT SAME BEDROOM SET SHOWED UP THIS WEEK IN AN AUCTION IN CASTLE SHANNON, PA! I feel this was very deceitful and it's a real shame that they trick people with this business scam. I am going to report this practice, and I bet the item disappears from the site. BIDDERS BEWARE! I wouldn't buy anything from them. That is not an auction, that is a SCAM!
Bought some small items, listings stated would ship in usps flate rate box. After sale demanded $10 fee to deliver to ups. After several emails I gave up. Don't deal with the Lehigh Valley auctions.
My husband and I have been using CT bids for a couple months now doing their online auctions and purchasing items. Most of the auctions we've got good quality stuff and we're happy with the purchases but here lately it has not been the same. The pictures have been deceiving they show it in the best light and then we pick up the items and they're covered in rust broken and or don't work. We also think that they are up bidding items. One of the auctioneer Took us to a storage unit full of the items that they up bidder people on and won at their own actions because they weren't getting the amount of money they wanted for the items. That's the good part of auctions is that you can get items for cheap but if they're up bidding them it takes the point of online auctions away. My advise to anybody using CT bids is to not expect the items to look like the pictures they probably will be in much worse condition or may not even work and if the bidding is going to high stop bidding bc it could be the seller bidding up the item.
The sellers are fraudulent. They use one fake account and one real ID. The fake one is to inflate the price and then in the end pull out from the commitment to buy. This way when the second highest bidder wins they call the person. If the person accepts the inflated price they sell it to him if not then they have the lower bidder (themselves) with a really lower price.
The corporate office is aware of this and they do not do anything about it. So the sellers and the corporate are fraudulent people.
STAY AWAY AND IF YOU ARE A VICTIM TALK TO A LAWYER SO THEY REPORT THEM TO THE AUTHORITIES. Bid rigging is illegal.
Over several years I have made approximately 58+ purchases from CTBIDS of everything from Persian Rugs, to kitchen gadjets, to furniture, to painting, to just about everything. I usually use Carlsbad LaJolla, Menifee, and Angeles Footills in California. Their descriptions are accurate, pictures hellpful and show faults, their personnel extraordinarily knowlegeable and helpful. I usually pickup (Carlsbad and Menifee) but if shipment is required (Foothills) they were quick and competent. Same goes for other sites I have purchased from outside of California. Very professional. Takes awhile to understand system. Have not used them to sell just buy.
For fun I like to find treasures on auction sites. I have some remarkable items that I retained for myself and others that I have turned around and sold for a very nice profit. Here is where CTBids fails miserably. The last time I was bidding on CTBids I had won a lot showing my high bid of $69 and 0 hours and 0 mins left for the bid. I closed my laptop and walked away happy that I had won! A couple of minutes later my phone alerts me that I have been outbid on the it I had won. I went on the site and sure enough another 3 minutes was newly listed on the lot. I was not pleased but I put in another bid and again won the item at $95.00 with 0 hours and 0 minutes. Same thing happened again and that was it for me. They will increase the time from 1 min to 3 min remaining if they think someone will keep bidding (which I do not think is the right way to conduct an auction and honestly that bidding until the last minute is one of the fun things about these online auctions. No other auction I know of practices this policy of increasing time. However to increase time when there was NO time left - smh. I am going to try some other sites that look reputable. This isn't the only thing that the management has trouble with as their invoicing process leaves quite a bit of room for improvement. Well, that's my 2 cents worth.
After I tried to collect my purchase from Mrs. Bird, she sold my item again and tried to keep the money that I paid for the item as well. She then told the district office that I failed to pick up the item and that I should have my bidding privileges revoked indefinitely. The district office run by Mr. Lewandowski proceeded to revoke my privileges and when I contested the process, he contacted Mrs. Bird who then told him that I threatened her by requesting her business address so I could report her and CTBIDS to the Better Business Bureau. This entire program is one giant scam to get as much money as possible from both the sellers and the buyers as well as collect commissions on each sale of up to 20%.
If you value your time and money DO NOT bid on this site as inevitable you will find that your paid for an item that you never can collect especially if you miss the small window, they provide to pick it up. If you do bid, do not bid on anything that Mrs. Bid is involved with as she is by far one of the worst perpetrators of this scam.
Finally, the district office run by Mr. Lewandowski will never side with the buyer and always side with their people running the auctions regardless of the proof you have to the contrary. He is part of the problem and not the solution so beware of this part of the scam as well.
NEVER EVER BID HERE!
I won the bid on a super nice Hitchcock chair for only $37 (approximately 1/10th of its value) and CTBIDS OF RICHMOND "lost" my chair. The chair was either taken by an employee from a warehouse that is not open to the public OR the company "lost" it in order to auction it off again. They cheated me out of my beautiful chair and made up a lie about it being mistakenly being put in the donation pile. To their credit, CTBIDS OF RICHMOND did refund my purchase - They lost my chair, they lost my business, and I would not recommend conducting any kind of business with them.
Answer: You can't. Once you place a bid that's it. You can't decrease it.
Answer: CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ALMOST NONE EXIXTANT. IF YOU CANT COME TO SOME TYPE OF RESOLUTION WITH THE FRANCHISE OWNER YOU BOUGHT THE ITEM THROUGH... YOU MAY NOT GET ANY RESOLUTION UNLESS YOU TAKE THEM TO SMALL CLAMES COURT OR REPORT THEM TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. ALOT OF THESE FRANCHISE OWNERS BIT OFF WAY MORE THAN THEY COULD CHEW AND CANT HANDLE THE WORK LOAD. THEY THOUGHT THEY WOULD HAVE A STEADY BUSINESS BUT REALIZED AFTER THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE TO PUT IN A LOT MORE HOURS THAN EXPECT IT AND DONT HAVE TIME TO DEAL WITH YOU AND DEFFINITLY NOT YOUR QUESTIONS OR DISSATISFACTION. AND FORGET ABOUT IT IF THEY SCREWED UP AND ACCIDENTLY DONATED YOUR ITEMS OR PACKED YOUR ITEMS POORLY AND THEY BROKE DURING SHIPPING. YOU NEED TO BE CAREFULL WHICH FRANCHISE YOU BID WITH AND ASK QUESTIONS FROM PEOPLE THAT MAY KNOW. JUST LIKE YOU ARE NOW. I TRYED TO FIGURE OUT CUSTOMER SERVICE WHEN I HAD A PROBLEM WITH A FRANCHISE OWNER AND IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. THAT OWNER SCREWED ME. IT WENT ON FOR MONTHS. HONESTLY IT IS HARD GETTING A GOOD NUMBER OF THESE FRANCHISE OWNERS TO EVEN RESPOND TO YOU.
Answer: Not sure what you mean by less expensive... do you mean, to sell through them, or buy from them? It's auction, so the sales price depends on the item and how badly someone wants it! As for what they charge, you would be best to seek out a local competitor, as not all of the estate liquidation type companies are national. CTBids is franchised territorially, so the quality of their listings is dependent on the host.
Answer: VERY LEGIT. I GOT MY ITEMS QUICLY WITH NO PROBLEM WHAT SO EVER... I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THIS FRANCHISE
