California DMV

I was on the chat line with a person named Norma (agent number 3151) and they could not help me at all. They took several minutes to answer back to write back after i gave necessary information. I gave all info needed and all she did was give me an error number to call or visit a CA dmv office. I told her i couldn't visit an office then she said and i quote "then you need to call the number above have a wonderful day" then disconnected the chat. Overall was a bad experience. She didn't tell me anything or give me anything besides the error number.

Sent in a check to get my registration renewed, kept calling them 4 weeks after I sent it to get a status...constantly been told they are backed up and if I need to get it done quickly to go to an office. Go to an office make the payment but the DMV in Sacramento - cashed my check! I was told that they were going to not cash it based some process they had put into place. Now they are telling me it will take OVER ONE MONTH to get the refund back. Pretty quick to take your money, but pretty slack at refunding what is not theirs!

I took the time to pre-register for a new license and real ID and when it came time to set the appt the system would not let me. All of the information was entered correctly but it would not accept it. Then I tried calling and it said they were busy and to call tomorrow and hung up on me. As much as they charge to register cars they should have a great computer system. Another example of the $#*!ty government we have and the joke we have as a governor.

Good luck trying to get a human over the phone they'll have you waiting for hours talking to a stupid robot! And then not help you with anything just a huge waste of time! How about the gov cuts DMV cost because when I went into the closest office I saw 5 people behind the counter doing absolutely nothing and just chatting while they're 20 people waiting! DMV IS A SCAM AND A JOKE!

My late registration was $207.00. The etags were $48. Plus change. This was $248. Plus change to renew! Yeah my fault for late registration, but this is highway robbery! Yes it was easy and convenient because of the pandemic, but highway robbery is my opinion! I will not be late again, good lesson here, pay when due no matter what comes up!

The DMV site is very confusing and has a long loading wait. If you schedule for a driving test, it will say error despite how you put in your information correctly. This site shows inflexible schedules and bad results in the webpage. The workers at the DMV at Palm Desert, California are mean. The DMV is full of extremely rude people. There is this woman who works at the G register at the desk when they call out your number and she was being prejudice towards a few people.

All I gotta say it F*** the DMV and the government for that matter. Can't even make my bills month to month and I forget to put my motorcycle on non op because helloooo I'm not driving it and I work every day of my life to scrape by and now I STILL have to pay reg for the year it sat in my backyard NOT driven AND file in January for non op and also most likely pay a fee for that too. F*** you guys and f*** this bs I'm so sick of this $#*!. "For the people" my a**

How sad and pathetic that the DMV and state of California has to scam people for $14. Purchased a new car in March 2023, added vehicle to my insurance before I even drove it off the dealership lot. Received letter in the mail in May stating that my registration was going to be suspended if I did not provide proof of insurance. Attempted to submit online - but was unable due to a "system error" and was provided an email address to send proof of insurance too. This was done on 5/16/2023. Assumed that this was all taken care of - this week I get a letter in the mail stating that I have to pay a reinstatement fee - as I have no proof of insurance. Contacted DMV and I was told that this would be taken care of - 48hours later; still have not received an email back from either the person I spoke with on the phone or supervisor (they requested I email them directly with my proof of insurance, which was done promptly). Given how much the California DMV scams people out of money for fear that I would get pulled over and FINED even more money with a "suspended" registration - I paid the fee. Absolutely ridiculous. Pathetic that California DMV has nothing better to do with their time; actually - maybe they should consider doing their job when the inform people they will contact you.

I'm military trying to get my license renewed from out of state. I've been on hold for 20 plus hours. The one time someone answered they just hung up on me.
