They absolutely screwed me over. The generator I bought was supposed to be delivered 12/8. It was then moved to 12/9. It never showed up, but records showed it was at a carrier facility 20 miles away. It wasn't delivered the next day. Or the next. Finally I called the morning of 12/12 telling them to please deliver by end of day 12/13 because I was going out of town on 12/14. They said they couldn't, but would store it for me till I got back in town. The Electric Generators contacted me stating that it was being returned to them and would refund my money, but keep $600 for shipping charges. They claimed I refused the delivery. I highly advise never doing business with them.
Ordered a transfer switch, their website said it was in stock. Yet the manufacturer and all other resellers were out! Called the next day and customer service said it would go out that day. The next day rolls around and I send an email asking status and the reply I got was "will ship in about 8 weeks"!
So I look up another item I know is nowhere to be found that won't ship from the manufacturer for at least 5 weeks, a Champion generator. The EGD website says backordered but will ship 11/25/20 (a week from today). Champion and other resellers are saying early January to ship. So I contact EGD and ask them about the 11/25 ship date and they INSIST that date is good.
Stay the hell away from these people!
I reached out to PAYPAL (I paid for the generator using paypal) on May 3rd. Paypal reached out to electric generators direct and they promised they'll have answer for paypal by May 13th. Today May 10th the generator miraculously delivered. I will give another update on the generator itself.
I still think this company is a scam! Customer service is the worst. I dealt with Diane who always says she's sorry and she has no answer for me or Israel who is so rude and isn't quite knowledgeable about the company policies and products.
I purchased a generator from them and every week i'm sent a fedex tracking that doesn't work. Can't get my item up to this day. Called the company and did the chat with an agent and all i get i'm sorry we're looking into it. Fedex told me I need to contact the company because they don't have the item. Contacted the company again and asked for my money back, only to be told there's a return fee. Return fee for something I never received? This is pure madness. PLEASE DON'T BUY FROM THEM, THEY'RE HUGE SCAMMERS. SHARE THIS REVIEW WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO DO BUSINESS AT ALL. SCAMMERS!
Bought a champion 3400 watt generator for $849.00 and a week later they were on sale for $769.00, when I asked about a price guarantee they basically told me to "F" off.
Would never buy from them again!
Only shipped partial order. Noted at delivery and was promised a follow up. No follow up, had to contact twice. Very unhelpful and refused to make it right.
I ordered a generator. I was sent a fedex tracking that doesn't exist. I can't get in contact with anyone and I need my money back. They are SCAMMERS!
We bought a generator from them last year, and it sat in our shop for about a month as the job we were using it on wasn't scheduled until then. When we went to use it we found that all of the parts it had come with (including the cold weather start kit) were for a totally different generator. They would not work with this one. We immediately tried to get in touch with the salesman we had bought it from but he was completely unresponsive. We tried calling customer service, also to no avail. Finally we got in touch with Cummins directly and purchased the correct parts from them. We then went back to Electric Generators Direct to return the incorrect parts but because the job had stretched on so long (due to confusion from incorrect parts being sent) it was far past their return time of 30 days. Mind you, we hadn't even been made aware of what parts were sent within 30 days. We went back and forth with them by email and on the phone but they refused to rectify the situation. Our hands were tied on the timing, and there was nothing we could do. We have spent thousands and thousands of dollars with this company (never an issue before this order) and were in a position to give them a lot of business in the future. When you have customers, you should take care of them. You make exceptions to policies when it makes sense to, such as extending the return time when it's due to your own screw-up. They did nothing of the sort. They refused to take back $600 worth of parts THAT THEY SELL and in so doing have lost a very good, long-time customer.
I ordered a backup generator to be delivered, I have waited for two different delivery appointments, and now they have just showed up and told me they only deliver to the curb (my driveway is 300ft long... so how am I supposed to get a 650lb generator down the drive on my own... that's why I paid for delivery!) I called Electric Generators Direct and they told me "we only deliver to the curb its on our website" I went back through their website and the purchase flow and there is no mention of this at all... now they want to bill me $500 to return as generator they can't deliver... and they were rude about it. Fortunately I bought it on my Amex so the dispute will be resolved. But save yourself the hassle and buy your generator from a reputable dealer like a Home depot or Costco, not some rinky dink outfit with a website in BFE which is pretty much what this experience would indicate Electric Generators Direct is.
