I had an absolutely horrible experience with this company and wrote a review last night and now it has mysteriously disappeared.
I am not surprised. If you scroll down you will see the title of almost every review (except for the the fake 5 star reviews) say: "scam", "stay away" "shady" "thieves ", and all sorts of other very accurate descriptions for this company.
When I first went online and filled out the repair form I was busy didn't have time to print it out and package the glasses before I went to work and they immediately started started harassing me several times a day with phone calls, emails, and texts about sending in my glasses for repair. That should have been my first clue from the beginning. Then I was quoted a higher price for repairs than the glasses even cost themselves so I requested they to be sent back to me. Many days went by and I figured my glasses were on their way back to me and would arrive any day now and I could send them off to a reputable company to get repaired. But then they reached out again and the representative said "My boss has lowered your repair cost to (what was originally over $200) to $69". Seriously? Who does that!?! Try to overcharge me first and then when I say no to lower the price and try and squeeze some money out of me. That was my 2nd red flag.
Then I had to request 5 times over 2 weeks and it wasn't until I threatened to report them to the Better Business Bureau that they finally were sent back to me. I paid for return shipping on Nov. 3rd and I thought well I'm glad that is over, now I can get my glasses back and leave this weird experience behind me. But the shadyness and nightmare was jutst beginning... it was several days after that I received the email offering to fix them for a lower price. I had to send 5 more emails and they finally sent them back, only after I threatened to report them to the Better Business Bureau. I finally received them on November 19th... 4 weeks to the day of starting this whole debacle.
Then I received an email saying "your customer service rep is requesting a tip" WHAT?!?! I was blown away. (See attached screenshot below). Ummm... DEFINITELY NOT. Then last night the owner started heckling me at 3:50 in the morning via texts! It started with a text saying "your customer service rep is requesting a tip" and I said no and told him I was very unhappy and he texted back "sorry I thought you were my ex". What?!? Clearly he has many enemies, NOT SURPRISINGLY. See screenshot attached below
He also sent me several emails today harassing me for my review and he said "You must have a lot of time on your hands", and I replied that he was just making himself look worse and he responded again saying "Once again you have nothing better to do"
WHAAAAAAT?!?!?! I cannot believe this company! Horrible awful terrible experience, and I wish I could give negative stars. I am completely shocked. I am going to find a way to report them for harassment. This has been unbelievable from the beginning to the very bitter end.
If you look at all the other horrible reviews and then see his responses to them you will see that the owner is an argumentative, shady, agressive person, with LOTS of unhappy (ex) customers, and I think one of the reviews said they did some research and discovered that the owner is a convicted felon? I would not be surprised at all if that was true.
This was the worst experience I have had with any company ever.
In a nice twist, it turns out turns out I am sending my Maui Jim glasses to Maui Jim to get them repaired for free!
Eyeglasses depot I hope you go out of business
