Gixen works well for me. I use it to bid on 2-3 items per week (average). When I find an item I want, I copy the item number from the listing, figure out my maximum bid, switch to Gixen, enter the item number and my bid, and ADD the item. I can check back regularly. Gixen lets me know if a bid higher than my bid is placed prior to the end of the auction. Gixen lets me know at the end of the auction whether I won or not. Gixen meets my simple needs, and would probably work well for more active eBayers. I use the paid option, 2 years at a time, and get two bids placed at the end, one from the regular server and one from the mirror server.
Shortly after regestering as an Ebay customer I realised that I was losing bragains as other, more savvy, bidders were waiting until the last few moments before making a winning bid. Thus I too made an initial basic bid and watched the clock count down. I then placed a bid with about 30 seconds to go but still found that other undeclared bidders were bidding in the final seconds!
Soon the concept of Sniping became clear and I discovered GIXEN. Joy of Joys I could now leave all the bidding to Gixen, could set up a hierarchy of bids with Gixen ceasing to watch after a successful bid and all of this for a measley $6 per year.
No need to declare myself as a "Watcher", let alone a bidder, although importing a "watch list" is simplicity itself.
GIXEN is a terrific service, works 100% of the time and offers amazing value for money.
(Other than as a user I have no connection with Gixen at all.
I have used Gixen for over two years now. Works great, easy to use and most importantly has saved me money!
Cheap subscription fees which are soon recovered by the money saved by using Gixen for your Ebay bidding. Has always worked perfectly for me every time.
A major plus point for me is that it works for items on Ebay sites in other countries, not just Ebay USA. Other sniping websites I have tried only submit bids on Ebay USA so if the seller wouldn't ship to the USA my bid was automatically rejected. And all these websites were more expensive than GIXEN, were not as easy to use and I lost items as they were so slow at making bids.
I am very happy with the GIXEN service and would recommend it to anyone.
Gixen is Great!
I have been using Gixen and Gixen Mirror service for years. As long as someone else using "Gixen" doesn't bid higher than you, the service usually wins the auction you are bidding on for you! I would and have recommended Gixen to other Ebayers for as long as I have used it.
I have been subscribing to Gixen for around 10 years. I will not bid on Ebay auctions without it. I have purchased thousands of items on Ebay using Gixen. The bids I win are all fantastic bargain prices. Knowing what items are worth, I use Gixen to bid a LOT less than they are worth. I may get a winning bid on only 1 out of 10 or 1 out of 20 items I bid on, but what I get is worth a LOT more than I paid for it.
Gixen is a little gem, I participate in both in auctions for rare items, that showes up every now and then and I must have them (obscure test equipment) and in day by day buying of normal household items and clothes.
In both cases Gixen have saved me a bundle, and while at the beginning I was very wary of sharing my EBAY logging data with a (at the time) almost unknown site, in the almost 10 years there was no security problem, no spam and no troubles, I remember only a couple of short outages over the years.
Also the interface is super simple and intuitive to use and there is no aggressive advertising, no spam and nothing but the fast, intuitive and responsive interface. Also in case of trouble, the support forum is very responsive and the site creator himself comes and answers questions.
In the end I can only recommend for everybody to use Gixen and buy the (modestly priced) subscription, you will get your money back at the first non-trivial auction won.
I have been using JBidwatcher for a number of years and found it to be useful software until it had problems with accessing EBay. However, having found this facility I am even more pleased as the bidding takes place outside of my PC. There have been occasions with JBidwatcher where my Internet connection went down or MS decided to download updates and tried to restart my PC. However, couldn't get my PC started as password protected. These are not JBidwatcher problems I find that GIXEN overcomes that problem.
I have only been using it for about a month but no problems except others bidding higher than my max. I have not had any malware problems with it.
I would have given it 5 stars but I don't want the whole world to know about it. Selfish I know!:-)
I actually did not want to write a review since I did not want to encourage more people to use the service since it would then enable them to snipe against my bids but after reviewing my thoughts and sense of fair play I would now like to let people know that I find this an invaluable service and it has helped me secure many a purchase. It is one of those smart software packages that makes ones life easier like LASTPASS and support is always close to hand. Very recommended.
Very useful tool which has always worked well for me:-) Mario, the developer, is very good at keeping registered users up to date with enhancements, etc. I particularly like having his 'add to Gixen' button on the eBay listings I veiw, while his Android app comes in handy when I'm away from my PC:-)
Gixen is truly the best auction sniper I ever used. The only auctions I failed to win were the ones on which I didn't bid high enough.
I subscribe to it, first because it is only fair and ethical to do so. The subscription also allows me to use the mirror system; it bids for me from 2 separate places at the same time and thus prevents any miss due to errors or snafus at eBay. The serious philatelist will subscribe to take advantage of the mirror system.
Gixen is astoundingly cheap. Other auction snipers I subscribed to in the past were far more expensive and couldn't deal with the "catchaps". They made me lose items I ought to have won. That never happened with Gixen.
The Gixen "dashboard" is clear, simple, very easy to use. One can increase or decrease a bid in under one minute. There's a good archive of former bids. The phone app is easy to install and works perfectly.
I am very grateful for Gixen. It has made my bidding on eBay a lot easier, more relax and efficient. I don't want to imagine what, for me, it would be like to do without Gixen.
My many thanks go to Mario, the founder, and his team. They constantly improve the program and provide a fabulous service for peanuts.
Answer: TOTALLY LEGIT! Been a paid up user for over a decade and never had a single problem.
Answer: It is obvious the reviewer had all the problems that he incorrectly blames on Gixen because he has visited other websites that have put malware/spyware/keyloggers/viruses on his computer. He won't admit that his problems are his own fault so falsely blames GIXEN for his own incompetence.
Answer: I have not needed to reach Customer Service. Their online help is pretty good. Just read.
Answer: It just works. Simple user interface. You can just "set it and forget it". Maybe the best online tool I have ever encountered.
Answer: Nothing at all. Gixen main service is free up to 4 winning snipes a month. Reliability for the free service is 99.5%. If you want higher reliability you can subscribe to Gixen Mirror. In that case your bid is sent twice, from two servers in different regions to minimize chance of failure. Gixen Mirror is inexpensive, around $6 / year, and there are different subscription types that can be seen on the settings page.
Gixen has a rating of 4 stars from 507 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Gixen most frequently mention many years, mirror service and ebay auctions. Gixen ranks 6th among Auction sites.
