I was looking for an English Bulldog, which can be a challenge. Good Dog vetted breeders so I didn't have to worry about a potential scam. They also followed up during the process and provided useful articles for bringing home a puppy. Overall, great experience.
I contacted a couple of breeders on GoodDog.com and one of them was KZAAM Golden Retriever (Patty Byler). Since we have had 7 Golden Retrievers before I am trained in how to select a puppy. You always look at the parents to see how they are. You would be surprised at what you will find out there with breeders that are not very good. So, I always ask the Breeder to provide pictures of the male and female parents. I require a picture of the dogs in the standing position with one pic of the side view and one of the front. Looking at both parents like this will give you a good idea on what the pup will look like when they are an adult. There is nothing like seeing both parents for yourselves. This way you can see the disposition of the dame/sire. If this is not possible, go with the pictures. This method of selecting a pup has always given us great Golden Retrievers that look like the Goldens they use on TV. When I insisted Patty to provide these pictures she finally said that she was not good with letting us have one of her pups. My response to her was, without the pics we would not purchase a pup from her. Just thought anyone looking for a purebred dog should know this before looking for a purebred pup.
I have several friends that use Good Dog that had 0 requirements to do any heath testing on their dogs or pups before joining the site. When I tried to join they wanted me to heath test my dogs and rejected my approval based on the type of breed I have! Good Dog is a biased JOKE!
Hello my name is Angie I was working with Jessica at Bartelt Breeders in Arkansas for quite awhile. She was very nice and answered all my questions. She was aware I was only interested in 1 dog named Shine. We had already discussed her being brought to me on July 5,2024 because she had another dog to drop off in Richmond VA on July 4,2024. On June 10,2024 we agreed we would FaceTime with Shine on the 11th. The next evening and she would give me the vet records and then I would make my deposit. When I called she did not answer and sent me a text saying someone put a deposit on Shine 15 minutes before our call and she has to honor that! Then she back tracked in saying she got the deposit on June 8,2024, which is the same day she asked me to fill out the application. Needless to say I was and still am shocked by the turn of events.Shine was always listed as available until she texted me that night. I'm very disappointed. I don't know if this is unethical or fraudulent but at the very least inconsiderate and unprofessional.
I have sent documentation to Tim Griffin, Attorney General Of Arkansas, Consumer Protection, Good Dog, Continental Kennel Club and BBB serving Arkansas. I feel the public should be aware of this. Obviously it was a lot of wasted time only to be left upset and disappointed.
Thank you

I purchased a Belgian Malinois through this site and requested training for which I paid Mychelle Stratton an additional $1,500. Training was to include house breaking, socialization, and obedience. The only thing the dog was taught to do was bite. He was not house broken, he was scared and skittish around other animals and people and had no concept of obedience. When Mychelle delivered the dog the only 'toy' he had was a bite sleeve.
I requested vaccination information for the dog but had to fight to get it sent. I question whether the paperwork emailed was actually on the dog I purchased. By then I had already started the vaccinations with my local vet.
Additional training was needed so I contracted a local trainer here in El Paso to train the pup. A 4 week training program has been extended to 7 weeks trying to undo the damage Mychelle's program caused. Even then additional training is necessary. One thing I learned about this breed is you don't teach them bite work as a puppy unless you are training them police or military jobs. Belgians instinctively know how to bite…the trick is teaching them not to. After all the time and money I have invested in this animal I am uncertain that I will be able to keep him. I cannot condone an animal that bites!
I don't have a receipt for the purchase but I do have the number where Apple Pay was used on 1 Mar 2024 to Mychelle Stratton. That can be provided if needed.

They are very shady about protecting bad breeders and their on-boarding process is VERY discriminatory! They won't accept my breeding program because I can't link them to instagram/Facebook or whatever. I DO NOT USE social media. I have AKC, indoor raised, genetic tested, vet checked pups coming soon but they will not approve me, likely due to my complaints to them about a horrible breeder that I dealt with on their site, who they have protected to the fullest because she cranks out litters like a vending machine thus giving them LOTS of revenue in fees! My female has been approved to breed by my vet and I have TOP quality dogs in my particular breed. Their customer service reps are clueless about common dog/breeding terminology when spoken to by phone. ALLLLLL GoodDog cares about is MONEY.
Hi Julie,
Thank you for reaching out. We’re glad that a member of our Screening Team was already able to connect with you and share more information about our Community Standards, Good Breeder Code of Ethics, and Policies, and how they may apply to an individual breeding program.
Every breeder in our community goes through our screening process and must meet or exceed our community standards, including our Breeder Code of Ethics and our minimum health testing requirements, before joining Good Dog. As our team shared with you, we are unfortunately not able to move your program forward in our screening process at this time, but we’re glad that they were able to share with you the necessary changes we’d need to see in order to re-evaluate your program in the future.
We understand that not everyone will agree with our approach, but we know that you, as a dog breeder, are working very hard and that you have a breeding program to be proud of. We hope that answers your remaining questions, and wish you all the best.
Kind regards,
-The Good Dog Team
I put a deposit down on a puppy then a couple weeks later that I received an email and a voicemail from Good Dog saying that the breeder was no longer recognized by them. However, they don't disclose information of why they don't represent a breeder anymore. They gave me the option of continuing the purchase of the puppy on my own as a private sale between me and the breeder, or my deposit could be transferred to another breeder. I elected to continue working with a Breeder because I had already chosen a puppy, the breeder sent me pictures and video of the puppy, so I was already emotionally attached. I will say that when I spoke with Madi from Good Dog, she was very helpful and letting me know that the breeder had received a $200 deposit and then I can continue the purchase of my puppy. Madi was very professional, gave good information, and very kind.
I thought it was a good dependable way to find breeders, but it turns out that good dog is not dependable. It’s a parent that good dog takes your money, not give it to broader after charging your credit card, and when they decide not to work with a breeder they totally ignore you. I am extremely upset at the multiple times I’ve tried to contact the dog and they will not respond to me. That’s bad business! STILL HOPING that good dog doesn’t the right thing and refund full amount, $221.00, back to my credit card.
Hi Mary,
Thank you for reaching out! We’re glad that a member of our Care team was able to connect with you to resolve this issue and clarify that your deposit was successfully paid, so if you’d like to continue working with the breeder, you’re all set to do so outside of our platform.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if there’s anything else we can do to support you!
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team
From beginning to end I found every person I spoke with to be courteous and very professional. They answer all my questions with care and made sure I thoroughly understood. I will recommend Good Dog to any and all friends who are looking for the perfect pup.
Thank you for your time and participation.

Your reputation with several breeders.
Found the dog we wanted, paid the deposit through the website. My wife flew across the country to pick the dog up. It was a completely different dog. We questioned them... Immediately they refunded our money and left... There will be legal action with the breeder and the website. Just horrible people. There are many other websites out there that are 100% legit... Do not use GOOD DOG... YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY!
Hi Jack,

A puppy we bought through your site was in sorry shape. He was evidently kept in a dirty environment, per our vets opinion. He had eye and ear infections, tape worms, gastrointestinal infection and GRD. He's only 12 weeks old. The picture advertised wasn't the same dog we received. He has turned out to be our rescue puppy, which we still love and adore. I'm going to describe this experience on various social media forums so people know what type of breeders are on your site. You need to do more thorough research on your breeders before allowing them to sell and take money on your platform. You have a great idea but you fail on execution.
I have them a 2 rating instead of 1 only because we love the puppy.
Hi Rob
We see that a member of our Care team reached out to you to learn more about this situation and take the first steps in working through this issue with you. You can feel free to reply directly to the email we sent you on March 7th, or give us a call back at 855-446-6336.
We look forward to hearing from you so we can help turn your experience into a positive one!

Can't contact anyone to find out how I'm going to get the dog I already paid for shipped to me or when. Can't call them. I don't know if I will ever get the dog.
Good Dog was extremely helpful to choose our fur baby from their listing of reputable breeders. It gave us the confidence in purchasing and bringing our new pet home safely.
To help find a healthy and lovable pet to be part of our family.
My wife and I could not be happier with the puppy we got from Jan. We acquired him at the age of 4 months and he was already trained for pee pads, sitting and shaking hands! He meshed with the shih tzu we already had at home in minutes and now they are inseparable. He is VERY smart also. All papers were included and the price paid was more than reasonable. My wife and I would highly recommend anyone seeking a shih tzu to consider Jan!
Our breeder was super responsive and did an amazing job with raising this dog and the logistics for adoption!
It was so easy to search and filter to your preferred do
Regardless of the questsions at hand the website was easy to use and kept checking on my progress with reminders and encouragement.
By chance...
Sabe and Shabe Dachshunds had what we were looking for. They checked us out and we checked them out. They socialized their pups, had a lot of good info and reviews. Sara was gracious and answered many questions I had. We met up with Sara and she introduced us to our pup. Again more good info on crate training, feeding, first few days suggestions, and warnings about staying clear of people, outdoors and other pets before the second vaccinations. As we travelled the three hours home, the puppy slept in my daughter's arms, and after an hour whimpered a little, put the pup on a pee pad and she peed on the pad. Three more times the same thing. Once we got home the pup slept in my wife's arms. Never any signs that she missed her mates. She was very well accustomed to people. The first night was a little rough in her kennel even though she was right next to our bed, she cried and whimpered for a while. We quickly found out that crying was for attention, but the whimper was to go potty. Second night went much better and within a week she slept through the night. Sara and her family had really done a lot of work with the pup to make sure we would be a happy family. They also gave us a little going home pack.
We chose Good Dog because of the quality of breeders and the standards they reinforce.
They do not let you take the service fee off. I even called and they told me it would be on the next page after entering in the card info. However I was then charged and never saw the option for "Friends and Family" at 0 cost. Now they are not responding.
Hi Lloyd,
Thank you so much for reaching out! We're glad to see that a member of our team was able to quickly assist you and take care of refunding this optional Protection & Support fee for you. Finding Good Dog was a gift. I felt confident that the Breeders were being held to a high standard. I also felt more confident and safer in the process knowing a reliable Company had my back in the event I needed assistance.
I chose Good Dog because I liked the vast options with respect to accountable breeders and number of dogs available at the price, location and availability time that worked for me. Having pictures of the puppies and their parents as well as the health history of the bloodline was a sway point for using Good Dog. The flexibility to search for my new dog at my convenience (over time with no pressure) in combination with the security of third party facilitation of the communication between myself and the Breeder (regarding the contract implementation and payment process) was a dream. I liked the ability to make payments and I appreciated the security of the contract. I liked being able to keep in touch with my Breeder while waiting for my pup to be old enough to come home and I loved sharing pictures and hearing updates on my pups life as she grew via this secure website. The customer service Good Dog provides is excellent and the extras with respect to information about what to expect, pup training and even pet insurance are super.
This app is a scam. They offer buyers protection and then don't honor it. I paid a $500 deposit, a $60 plane ticket, a $100 pet in cabin, a $76 dollar vet appointment because the breeder told me the day before she was too busy to get the puppy her 2nd shot, $75 to Uber for a ride to airport, $50 for crate to fly puppy home, plus toys and food for puppy. One hour before I had to leave for airport the breeder messaged me to tell me the puppy got bit by a snake. I have not been refunded any of my money. Please don't use this site!

I was in search of a puppy for a friend. I found Bea on this site, it was perfect timing! My friend now owns a beautiful puppy to fill the void of losing his other one. The breeder was fantastic about getting in contact with me. I love the fact that Good Dog does the vetting for it's customers.
Honestly, I found this site by accident. After reading about your breeder requirements I felt confidant is selecting the puppy off this site.
We brought Glori Grace home when she was just 8 weeks old and weighed 6 pounds. Now she is almost 11 weeks old and weighs 10 pounds. She has had most of her shots and will complete them pretty soon. She is so precious and we adore her. She can be a little feisty at times, but then puppies are like that when they are young. We feed her Farmer's Dog food which is the BEST food on the market. Trust me! And she loves it. She has tons of chew toys, 2 pink crates, tons of chew toys and 3 doggie beds. We love on her, hold and pet her all the time and we are a close family. We are so grateful we found her breeder, Paula through you. Glori Grace is the love of our lives!
You first of all offered a lower price and because her breeder was within driving distance. So glad we found our puppy through ou and our breeder!
We got a delightful small Maltipoo with Big Ears ready for flying. She has a wonderful disposition and is very energetic and fun. The breeder was excellent and took a great deal of care to prepare us and our pup for our new life together.
Location of breeders close to our home so we could visit the dog before we bought one. Liked the standards established for breeders.
Breeders were honest. I was worried about losing deposit. I have heard bad stories. It was smooth as silk.
Looking for a pretty rare dog. Wanting a Borzoi, aka Russian Wolf Hound, for 25 years. I'm done. Push through text
I had a wonderful experience with Good Dog. I was able to find my awesome breeder and as a result have brought home my dream puppy. I like the fact that the financial transaction is done through the app. I think that is a plus for breeder and seller.
I found my puppy on the app and felt confident and more secure dealing with a breeder that is part of your network.
Gooddog is continuously making updates to make it a better site for breeders and buyers to find the breeds of dogs they love making it a safe place to purchase without being scammed.
I personally love gooddog because they take the time to interview each breeder to make sure they are legitimate and if you have any questions or concerns they are always there to answer them.
Love Good Dog, I am a breeder and they do check each breeder to see if they are ethical and breed to standards. They offer many classes that a breeder can take advantage of to further your knowledge on breeding. The breeder will receive certificates of completion. They have webinars with so much information. They believe in what they do and I as a breeder stand behind them and proud to be a Good Dog Breeder..
Tip for consumers:
Do your research on any breed and Breeder.
I hope that someone learns from my experience. Do not use this website or any of their Breeders. I purchased a 9 week old cockapoo. The breeders paperwork from her vet signed off as healthy and normal in all aspects, including oral cavity and legs/gait. I took him to my vet, who immediately noted an underbite and bow hind legs. My vet issued Unfit for Purchase certificate.
I presented all of this to the Good Dog Care Team Manager. She said the breeders vet said the puppy was fine. So, the congenital defects just happened in 4 days. I had the puppy sent from AR, over 1,300 miles away. I can return him, at my expense and hope that I get reimbursed. The horrible breeder, *, at PineHavenDoodles still has puppies listed on GoodDog site. They haven't even removed her. Statement from GoodDog is that the Breeder meets their standards. Apparently they have no standards.
I can't believe I fell for this.
Please listen to all the reviews unless you want nothing but heartbreak for the future.
Hi Marie,
Thank you for reaching out. We’re glad that our team has been able to work with you through this issue and communicate with the breeder on your behalf over the past few days
We understand that the breeder has offered you a full refund of your dog payments, as well as additional funds that can be used towards transportation costs of getting the pup back to the breeder.
As our team shared with you, we take enforcement of our standards incredibly seriously and have a process in place in which we conduct an independent investigation of all complaints in order to ensure that our standards are enforced consistently and fairly. In line with this process, our team reviewed all documentation provided and determined that the breeder is in compliance with our Community Standards at this time.
We hope this answers your remaining questions, and wish you nothing but the best.

Best friends made here. Good Dog makes it simple for people to get dogs from good sources and for reputable breeders, shelters and rescues to put their dogs in good homes. And we provide all the support and guidance you need to feel confident every step of the way!
Hi Chris,
We’re glad that a member of our team has already been able to connect with you and share more information about our Community Standards, Good Breeder Code of Ethics, and Policies, and how they may apply to an individual breeding program.
As they mentioned, all programs that are recognized on Good Dog must meet our Community Standards, Code of Ethics, and Policies (linked below), and may be subjected to periodic audits to ensure that our Community Standards are upheld.

-https://www.gooddog.com/good-breeder-center/good-dog-article-toc#good-dog-policies
We understand that our Compliance Team let you know about the necessary changes you’d need to make to your program in line with our Standards, and that should those changes be made, we’d be happy to re-evaluate your program at the end of the six month timeframe our team communicated to you.
We understand that not everyone will agree with our approach, but we know that you, as a dog breeder, are working very hard and that you have a breeding program to be proud of. We continue to wish you all the best.
Kind Regards,
Good Dog Team
