Goodman 5 ton unit installed in my new construction home. Builder never told me I had to register the HVAC unit with Goodman. Two years in the coil starts leaking (I heard there was a dismissed class action suit about this). They have left me for over a week now with NO HVAC. I keep asking when will the part ship and they cant tell me and do not honor callbacks. It does not matter how good a system is or how long the warranty if the manufacturer does not honor the warranty. Reported them to Texas Attorney General local new stations.

Repeatedly tried to register my units online but their system wouldn't recognize the serials. Brand new units, no reason it should have failed. I forgot for a time about it due to it not working right away, and then when I tried again, still wasn't working. Now had to try to call in... repeatedly their phone system disconnected and hung up on me. Tried online email form. No response. Tried their chat. Put on hold for at least an hour ("wait a minute", yeah right), couldn't hold any longer. Finally got through on the phone... only to learn I'd missed the 60 day window at this point for the extended warranty. Think they would give me a break due to all the problems THEY caused in getting it registered? Of course not! Can only imagine what a nightmare getting service would be considering how much a PITA just registering the warranty was.

Goodman warehouses ft worthare awful to deal with. On phone for hour at a time and ignored. Can they just not find quality people or is it further up in management. If you call to order parts at 3 they close at 4 and you will get left on phone.

Bough an AC/HVAC unit in 12/2014 w/ promises of 10 warranty. First off that warranty only covers parts, not labor. Secondly, the compressor that went out last year 5/2019 they gave me a replacement part that went out barely a year after. Now not only am I facing having to pay labor AGAIN on a faulty replacement part, but they are saying my warranty information was never received & is not valid. Customer service was rude & hung up on me. I am recovering from spinal surgery in a sweltering 95 degrees w/ no resolution anywhere in sight! Run as far as you can from Goodman products. After researching this issue, I am finding this is a common ploy from this company.

We bought a package, air conditioner and furnace and on the first use, the air does not work properly. We have contacted the manufacture due to the run around from Linked Home who was the company we purchased this package. Tradecraft mechanical who are now trying to fix and they are as big of a scam as the product itself. NEVER buy a Goodman anything... period.

BOUGHT A GOODMAN TO REPLACE MY OLD A/C.
THE GOODMAN NEVER WORKED FOR 4 SUMMERS.
I HAD ONE TECHNICIAN SAY, ONE VALVE PARTLY OPEN AND HE FILLED MY GOODMAN A/C($156.00 later)
I HAD ANOTHER TECHNICIAN COME OVER, HE SAID, THE JOB WAS A MESS, A LINE WAS LEAKING AND HE CHARGED ME $700.00 TO FIX YOUR A/C. WHAT A DISASTER. SOMETIME LIFE IS NOT ROSSY. BRIAN.

I was sold a Goodman MSS9 furnace in 2017. Installed by an authorized dealer who swore by the quality of the unit with a 10 year warranty. It is 2020 and the unit has been limping by for the last 4 months, barely keeping the heat at 60 degrees. I have had 5 different companies look at it including the authorized dealer and no one knows how to fix. This has continued to cost me service call $$ each time it. Last night it tried to start for 15 straight hours while the temperature dropped to 50 in the house ( it is still winter in northern Wisconsin). I have a stroke victim trying to recover in this house and must be kept warm. The customer service line is a joke. The warranty is a joke. The service is a joke. The unit is GARBAGE

AC Tech 20 years
August 8, 2019

I have been installing Goodman for at least 16 years of the 20 no problems. But now I have had two units that the condenser was leaking or half full of 410a, I hate callbacks. I really like Goodman because they are simple in design, two times is enough for me, I hate callbacks! Paul

My unit is less than 5 years old and under manufacturer warranty. We have been sweltering in 100-degree weather, baking inside an all brick oven (home). Sent all my information to them and received a warranty from them back by email. Now the distributor won't order the part we have been waiting on this summer because they say the a/c is registered to a gentleman in Florida, but they refuse to give me the name. This is beyond horrific service expected from a namebrand company. The a/c tech says they do not install Goodman units because they have defective coils and they are cheaply made. Now that I know this, I can assure you I will NEVER buy one of their units again. I caution you about buying one of these cheaper brands, too. Soend a little more and get a different brand.

I am an HVAC contractor and have been in business for 13 years. Over the 13 year period I have installed nothing but Goodman brand equipment. Hundreds of installs of Goodman equipment and 13 years later, I have filed warranty 5 times. (2) blower motors, (1) inducer motor, (1) compressor and (1) coil. The compressor failure was just that one in 5,000 lemon that failed from the factory in 2 days. Replaced for the customer at no charge and 5 years later, it's still kickin. To the person with 5 failed coils, it's impossible to have 4 coils fail on the same unit like that. Installed should have checked and replaced the Schroeder valves on the outdoor unit for approximately $5 and chances are you would have stopped losing refrigerant. I've seen it too many times to count where companies assume leak is coil related. As for any of you paying for labor when you feel it should be warranty related, find different a contractor. I back all my work with 10 years labor and register all the products I install for the customer and send them the registration certificate. Why would I give 10 years labor warranty on products that, according to many of you is junk? I would be out of business in no time. I've never had one problem getting warranty exchange on the 5 items in 13 years. The reason I can back my work for 10 years while using Goodman equipment is because I'm installing the equipment correctly. My advice to you all with bad experiences, find a new contractor not a new brand. Brand means nothing as I've seen Trane, Lennox, Bryant etc... all fail in under 5 years because of incompetent installers.

I purchased 2 Goodman heaters. The one in my house flooded my upstairs shortly after I installed new carpets. The unit is only 2yrs old and a gasket in the unit that collects condensation went bad. Upon calling Goodman I was told that since i had an independent handyman install the unit it voided all warranties. When I explained that installing the unit to the ducting had nothing to do with the internal components I was told that it didn't matter. I was also told that the warranty only covers parts and that I should have purchased a separate warranty for labor. Seems Goodman was just trying to find a way not to stand behind their product.

Unit I had when I bought the place was dead within 1 year after buying (within 8 years of install). New unit from Goodman has failed within the first year. I'm in Southern California where 100 degree weather is common (especially in my area), and here I sit with no AC, and no parts available in a major metropolitan area. When discussing with the general manager at Goodman, the copout answer is we can't keep parts there, it's not good business. (Translation, we hold our parts in TX because we don't have enough to replace the failed components in our system, and dole them out as needed to all of the hotter locations in the US. We don't ramp up production on the parts to make sure every region has them.

I understand people say Goodman air and heating units are the cheaper brand but for people like me who doesn't have the money made it somewhat more affordable. I had it for a little over 5 years and the compressor died. Warranty was for only 5 years so I need to pay out of pocket. The Pat Walsh plumbing, heating and cooling company installed it and told me Goodman gives 10years warranty yet when called in, I wasn't even registered as a buyer and explained it was good for 5.1st, why didn't pat walsh let me know about the warranty and didn't register it. 2nd, did this company know it'll last only 5 years so it was warranted for that time only? 3rd, I hate how companies have a way about warranties so we the costumers get screwed over. I know I wouldn't purchase Goodman product again. So whomever is reading this, ask and know about the warranties. For a few more bucks for a better product is always a win. It's so sad the companies make cheap, crappy products that doesn't last like it used to. We give and complain yet thats all we can do. Glad your pockets get deeper.

I purchased a new A/C for my home about eight years ago. After about two years, the coil in the unit failed, and had to be replaced. Again after the unit was out of warranty, the coiled had to be replaced again, at a cost of about $2500. 00. That lasted less than a year. After the fourth failed coil, I had a completely new A/C installed. Through a dealer, was told that Goodman still sells and manufactures this crap! Right now there is a class action lawsuit against Goodman. I can't wait to join. Goodman is located in Houston. If I were near, I would picket their facility. All in all, they cost me about four grand in repair costs.

Repair and company states it is not register for the inside unit. This is bull i have paperwork where it is registered. Goodman said if the service company that install would sent register in again they would review. The serviceman is now deceased so that win\ll mot happen, they ar arip off. I bought a goodman furnace in may of 2016 and it has never worked. I live in Nebraska where it gets cold. Unit freezes up. I hope this helps someone wanting to buy a goodman to go to some other brand.
