On Monday, July 11,2022 at 2:17 p.m. Eastern Daylight Savings Time (EDST), I signed up for "Unlimited Person Report Membership - 1 month - with Data Monitoring," a one-month subscription of Instant Checkmate, LLC for $35.12. Before I signed up with Instant Checkmate, LLC, I called their phone number *******985 to discuss which product would be best for my purposes. I wanted to look for lost/deceased classmates for my upcoming high school reunion on August 26,2022, plus update my personal address book. I was advised that Instant Checkmate, LLC's "Unlimited Persons Report Membership" would be best for me, so I signed up for that membership. At the time I called, I was told my one-month subscription would end on Friday, August 12,2022. I was told of no other limitations to my one-month "Unlimited Persons Report Membership" subscription. In fact, I was told that my membership would give me "unlimited reports."

On Saturday, August 6,2022 at about 11:00 a.m. EDST, I was locked out of Instant Checkmate. Instant Checkmate, LLC, is closed on weekends, their phone hours being Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time Zone. I made every effort to unlock my account by myself as suggested on Google, i. E., by resetting my password. That did not work so I had to wait until Monday at 7:00 a.m. Pacific Time Zone (10:00 a.m. EDST).

When I called Instant Checkmate on Monday, August 8,2022 at shortly after 10:00 EDST, I was told I was locked out due to overuse. I was then told I was allowed 25 searches per day, which no one explained to me when I signed up for this on Monday, July 11,2022. Furthermore, I had been using Instant Checkmate fervently almost every day since I signed up on Monday, July 11,2022, so I am sure that I used Instant Checkmate for more than 25 searches per day previous to Saturday, August 6,2022 without being locked out.

I asked them to unlock my account and to extend my one-month subscription for the days that I was locked out. They were willing to unlock my account, but NOT extend my one-month subscription for the days that I was locked out.

Furthermore, they told me that it would take 48 to 72 hours to unlock my account. As it turned out, my Instant Checkmate account was unlocked on Thursday, August 11,2022 at 5:29 p.m. EDST. So, I was without the use of my one-month subscription for almost six (6) days!

My one-month subscription to Instant Checkmate ended on Friday, August 12,2022 at 2:53 p.m. EDST.

However, Instant Checkmate did offer me an alternative. They told me that my Instant Checkmate account would be "instantly" unlocked if I signed up for another month of Instant Checkmate. I did not want to pay $35.12 for another month of Instant Checkmate, so I did not choose this alternative. I could have completed what I need to do if I had not lost those six days of use of Instant Checkmate. And frankly, at this time, it is too late for those "extra" six days to do me any good.

It is my belief that Instant Checkmate locked my account near the end of my subscription to encourage me to subscribe to another month of Instant Checkmate. This is an incredibly unscrupulous business practice. When they could unlock my account "instantly" if I paid another $35.12, how come I had to wait over 72 hours for them to unlock my Instant Checkmate account? A very unconscionable practice.

TO THE CEO OF INSTANT CHECKMATE. YOU OR YOUR STAFF DO NOT KNOW MY STORY. AND I HAVEN'T GIVEN YOU PERMISSION TO INVESTIGATE MY BACKGROUND THAT WAS IN BAD FAITH BY OTHER PEOPLE'S PERSONAL OWN GAIN. I HAVE NOT GAVE YOU ALL THE AUTHORITY TO WRITE ANYTHING ON ME IN MY GOOD NAME. DURING 911 MY LIFE WAS THREAT BY A SERIAL KILLER THAT WAS AFTER MY COMMON LAW MEXICAN HUSBAND. AND I WAS FRAMED BY THIS SERIAL TRANSEXUAL MURDER WHO LIVED NEXT DOOR TO US. THE LIES WERE SPREAD BY THIS SERIAL KILLER. SO YOU DO NOT KNOW MY STORY. AND I WILL BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY PROTECT MY SELF FROM THESE TYPES OF PEOPLE THAT'S OUT TO DESTROY ME AND OTHER Good PEOPLE. THE SERIAL KILLER WAS A BLACK MAN THAT WAS OUR NEIGHBOR. WHO LIVED NEXT DOOR TO US. ONE DAY THIS SERIAL KILLER, THAT I THOUGHT WAS A REAL WOMAN AND OUR NEIGHBOR, GOT A RIDE FROM ME AT THE SERVICE STATION IN OUR HOOD. WHILE RIDING WITH ME THIS MAN VOICE CAME OUT OF HER MOUTH. SHE TOLD ME THAT, SHE COULD HAVE CUT MY THROAT, WHEN I DROVE HER HOME. THIS TRANSEXUAL WOMEN WAS A MAN AFTER MY COMMON LAW HUSBAND. SO A MISUNDERSTANDING TOOK PLACE. AND I TOLD IT TO GET OUT IF MY CAR. AND TO STAY AWAY FROM US. THIS THING PLOTTED A CONSPIRACY ON ME TO GET MY COMMON LAW MEXICAN HUSBAND. WE BOTH ASSUMED THAT THIS YOUNG LADY WAS A YOUNG LADY. SO THIS TRANSEXUAL USED HER SEX ON AN OFFICER OF THE LAW TO FRAME ME TO GET TO MY MEXICAN COMMON IN LAW HUSBAND. I NEVER DID ANYTHING. MY COMMON LAW MEXICAN HUSBAND ASSUMED THAT HE WOULD BE FRIENDS TO THIS TRANSEXUAL, THAT HE THOUGHT WAS A WOMEN. AND WHEN HE SNEAKED AND WHEN OUT WITH THE TRANSSEXUAL NEIGHBOR, HE WAS RUNNING BACK SAYING IT'S A MAN! BUT I REFUSED TO LET MY MEXICAN COMMON IN LAW HUSBAND BACK IN THE HOUSE. BECAUSE HE WAS OUT THERE RIDING AROUND WITH WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS A REAL WOMEN. I NEVER DID ANYTHING. BUT TOLD THAT THING TO STAY AWAY FROM US EVERY EVENING, ME AND MY COMMON IN LAW HUSBAND WOULD BE SEEN TOGETHER AS A HAPPY COUPLE. WE DID HAVE PLANS FOR THE FUTURE. BUT, AFTER I SAW WITH MY OWN EYES, MY MAN RIDING AROUND WITH THAT TRANSSEXUAL. I CALL IT QUITS BUT WHEN MY MAN CAME RUNNING BACK TO ME SAYING, IT'S NOT A REAL LADY IT'S A MAN. I TOLD HIM TO GO BACK WHERE HE CAME FROM AND I NEVER LET HIM BACK IT. THE TRANSSEXUAL CONTACT HIS DETECTIVE SEXUAL FRIEND AND THEY FRAMED FALSE CHARGES ON ME. WHEN NOTHING NEVER HAPPENED. IT WAS ALL LIES. I SUFFERED FOR FIVE YEARS DURING THAT SAME TIME 911 HAPPENED. TO PROTECT MYSELF AND MY FAMILY I TOOK THE FALL. ESPECIALLY, AFTER I WAS TOLD BY THE TRANSSEXUAL FRIEND THIS SERIAL KILLER REAL NAME AND HIS CONVICTIONS AND HIW DANGEROUS HE REAL WAS. I DID AN INVESTIGATION ON THUS TRANSSEXUAL AND IT WAS HORRIFYING. SO, I KEEP QUIET AND I DID Five YEARS AWAY FROM MY FAMILY TO KEEP HARM AWAY FROM ANYONE ELSE. BUT, THAT LOCATION HAD Never BEEN MY RESIDENT. IT'S WERE I WAS FORCED TO BE. I BELIEVE IT WAS ONCE RHE RESIDENTS OF THAT TRANSSEXUAL NEIGHBORS, WHO CAUSED ME UNDUE STRESS. NOW, YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPEN TO ME AND I HOPE That THIS Tragedy WILL NEVER HAPPEN EVERY TO ANOTHER NICE COUPLE IN THE HOOD OF THE USA. INNOCENT PEOPLE MUST STOP BEEN FRAMED AND JUSTICE MUST STOP BEING BLIND. I NEVER DID ANYTHING. IT'S WHAT WAS UNETHICALLY DONE TO ME.

I initially became aware of InstantCheckmate.com in 2015 through an online pop-up ad and decided to explore the product. I was curious about the information available (which ultimately seemed pretty limited relative to what you can find on your own). I provided my VISA debit card # because they did not accept American Express, my only other card. I just recently learned that my VISA card has been debited $28.85 every month since initially trying their service, for each of the past 50 months, for a total charge approaching $1,500. I'm a senior citizen who watches my expenditures carefully, so this was quite upsetting. I used their product for less than ONE hour on ONE single occasion in 2015. I pursued resolution on this by calling Customer Service. After waiting on hold for a Customer Service Representative, she explained that renewal notice emails are sent out monthly. Yet, I never received a single renewal notice or email to make me aware of the ongoing charges. In following up with another call to another Customer Service Rep (more time waiting on hold), I was told that at the time of my use of their service in 2015 the company was not yet in the practice of issuing renewal notices. Why on earth would they not include all prior users on these renewal emails when they finally decided it was the right thing to do? They had my email address.

If you look at the company's landing page today there is no visible indication that this is a subscription service. The pricing speaks of 1,3, or 6 month memberships. If you know enough to look really hard at other secondary pages on their website there is a single brief, almost hidden mention about automatic renewal. Why not make this evident on your landing page in a more visible manner? Most elderly people are familiar with magazine and newspaper subscription models that send you a renewal notice if you want to continue receiving their products. Those types of reading material do not just "automatically" renew. Judging by similar online reviews that I've recently Googled on this company, their product offering is misleading to many other people as well. Is Instant Checkmate oblivious to these reviews? Why have they never become more transparent?

The final point I'd like to make, which is like rubbing salt into the wound, is that while they've been debiting my VISA card for $28.85 per month, the current 1 month membership is $6.00 less. Even if people wanted to renew their service, they'd want to do so at this cheaper rate, not $6 more per month. Keep in mind that these types of practices are likely being carried out on 100's of thousands of citizens. I pursued resolution of these charges through the Customer Service 800 #. They initially offered me a refund for a measly $115, which they then increased to paltry $173. After speaking to a Customer Service Supervisor they increased the refund to an embarrassing $346 (on almost $1,500 of hidden and what I consider fraudulent charges). I asked Customer Service, is this fair? The Rep replied, "No, however, that is the most that our system will allow me to refund." The "SYSTEM". Yet, their system was perfectly capable of charging me into perpetuity until who knows when, every month at the highest membership price! This is BULL$#*!.

I was then told to write an email to the Customer Service Technical Support group who would contact me. I was led to believe that they would call me and that there was good hope that they could do more for me. I took the time to write them a clear and full description of what had occurred. No one ever called to speak further. I did receive a short email reply saying that they were "unable to do more for me". The Founder/CEO of this company which is based in San Diego should be concerned that people have such strong and vehement views of being unfairly treated and misled. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND IT'S PRODUCTS AND SERVICES! Their business model is a SHAM!
