June 16, 2023

They expect you to now the the work with no help and made me re think my life decisions and made me regret all the times I said my normal school was bad in Kumon if you talk you get in trouble but in a normal school you can talk on a regular base and you leave when you are done with it then you can leave henry if you see this please try to let them have a reward when they are done or let them talk so they can make some friends and so you get more customers to make more money and for the good of the kid also in a kid writing this.

So I was just miding my own buisness, I got heavily sick for a few days and missed a lot of lessons when i came back all my work was late and my grades tanked. That's when my mom signed me up for kumon and ruined my life. All you do in kumon is sit around and do 5 pages of work (theres a back side on the pages too so it's basically 10) i sit around there and act like everything's fine but I am dying inside and want to kill myself, THEN, you also get a packet of homework (same packets you do when you're there) for everyday until you come back. It is soul draining and boring. This made me depressed and want to commit arson inside that building. So moral of the story this place is Sh*t don't waste your money on some stupid and fake place. Also, you might think this reviiew is fake, and you see 5 star ones on google. But there's a catch right now there are only 2 reviews i feel like this is so fake and they probably got there family or close friends or any relatives to do this. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS ABSOLUTE PIECE OF SH*T.

This facility does not care about their families. Their curriculum is set up to make sure you continue spending your money and they prolong their teachings by going 2 grades back to "refresh" students on material they already know just to keep you longer. I asked to stop the program and instead of being told the steps to do this, I was asked to call in to speak about it. Then, they would not relay my messages to the coordinator and if they did I still did not receive call backs and when I called she was unavailable.

I am enrolled into Kumon and I can tell you that it is not helpful at all and the most depressing place ever. They force you to do stupid math problems and reading questions everyday no matter what. Even during COVID, they set up an online call with you just so that you can do petty little math equations. They make you do homework everyday, especially on weekends, breaks, and more. As much as I don't like it, your child will hate it and immediately cry when they leave Kumon on the first day like I did. Never trust Kumon. Some of the people I've met at Kumon are not helpful AT ALL. If I ever asked for help on anything, it would 1 or 2 things. I would ask them a question like "I need help on this problem" and they would say the question "What is 10 divided by 5", then they would say "What is 10 spilt into 5" and I would say something like "YOU LITTLE $#*! THAT'S WHAT I NEED HELP ON" in my mind. Once I was doing an end of level test(not a big deal it's just a test asking questions that were from your previous level) and I didn't finish and it was time for me to go, I told the manager of the Kumon I was at that I had to go but when she found out that I didn't finish, SHE LITERALLY MADE ME STAY AT KUMON UNTIL CLOSING TIME TO MAKE ME FINISH THE DAMN TEST. It was painful and I was crying during most of it since those questions were pretty hard and I was forced to do it. When I finally arrived home I started crying and then started sending hate to Kumon and beating up my Kumon bag. I am telling you, Kumon is a child's worst nightmare. If any of your adult friends are thinking of enrolling their child into Kumon, tell them to look at the reviews and they will be ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED on how disappointing, disgusting, pathetic, and painful Kumon is.

Moral of the story: Kumon is like hell

It's awful. I do my kumon, forcefully, but then i realise tomorrow i need to repeat the same process. It got so bad, that when somebody would say kumon, i'd stutter for a while and jump back and look horrified. The questions are so annoying. Repetitive. Confusing. It doesn't give enough explanations. When they do give an explanation like 2/5 x (14/29 (4/29 divide 3)) =, they give longer questions.
It's so confusing. When there's long question, you are bound to get the question wrong. This was real in one case when they put like 12 equations and expected you to answer it.
The worst part is time management. How the f* do i do this in my GCSEs. HOW. HOW! OH YES LET ME FOCUS ON SOMETHING MORE IMPORTANT, AND NEXT WEEK INSTRUCTOR SAYS "why have you not done your kumon?" It's annoying. When I go out with my mates or somewhere with family, if we go for an hour or more, i start getting worried and anxious that i have kumon to do. It's annoying. I can't enjoy my holiday espceially because on my holiday i go and visit 7 hours of the day, so i barely have time to do kumon. And even if i do, i would only have very little time to relax. Never, never, ever send your child here. Summary 1: overexpensive. 2: Repetitive. 3: Boring. Hard. Alot of work. 4: Nobody cares if you're struggling in the kumon centre. Overall, 1/5..

Kumon ruined my life
April 20, 2023

I was just a normal kid. Until Kumon came along and made it torture. Everyday I'd be doing math above my level. I'd cry when no one looks so I can deal with it and when I try to take a stand no one listens. The tutors barely helped out and when I go into the center to this day, I see at least 2 kids crying in one session. But that's not the worsr part. The worst part is that they give SCHOOL HOLIDAY HOMEWORK. Giving homework in the holidays removes the entire point of having one! Not to mention since most people I speak to this about have busy holidays so we don't have time to do the homework and then when Kumon finds out it's a big deal. WELL NO! WE HAVE OUR OWN LIVES THANK YOU VERY MUCH. OUR HOLIDAYS SHOULD BE HAPPY RESTFUL AND FUN. NOT MISERABLE. THE AMOUNT OF TIMES I CRY TO KUMON MAKES ME WANT TO BLEED OUT AND BREAK MY ENTIRE SHOULDER. It may help my grades, but it ruins my mental health.

1 star. I wish I could give negative.

Not worth it, at all
April 20, 2023

Too much stress, overly repetetive, methods aren't up to date, they don't teach anything at all, you figure everything by yourself, the examples barely help. Not worth it at all.

Before the pandemic, I went to Kumon, and it was back in early May 2019. I thought it could improve my reading skills. However, the worksheets were boring and repetitive. When I took the exams, I had to memorize everything. Also, when I did classwork, many times it took me so long to figure out the correct answer for the reading passages. The reading passages were very useless and I was very unprepared for the SAT reading section. Due to the system of Kumon, I got frustrated so many times that I eventually had to withdraw from the program. Overall, do not waste your time and money on this. If you want to improve your reading skills, use Khan Academy, or hire a tutor who can actually help you with your reading skills.

Tbh it made me traumatized me. The main teacher scared everyone and most of the time I would see kids younger then me running outside crying and lying to leave quickly. Try anything else but this place. Your kids will never enjoy learning as much ever

Its just stupid
February 14, 2023

Overall it's just stupid, I'm currently in it right now, and ever since I started it my mental health has been going downhill, it's just so stressful, and their methods are $#*!, I continuously have to juggle kumon and school at the same time, and their packets don't help me at all at school, and its just a big waste of money, so do not enroll in it.

I'm very grateful to both amazing Kumon teachers (Ms. Lydia Wong & Mr. Keith Wong) and the staffs at Garden City Kumon.
My kids have been successful and passionate in Mathematics because of the teaching, guidance & the support they get from Garden City Kumon. I'm so pleased of what my boys are doing at Kumon. They're not only learning math beyond their grade levels, but also building up their confidence, independence & accountability. Thank you for shaping my boys' characters along the way! Years well spent in Kumon.

I would highly recommend Kumon to all parents to build a strong & solid foundation for your children's academic development. A big thank you to Lydia & Keith for sharing your talent and continuous hard work to teach the younger generations. You guys are awesome and our children's role models :)

Don't go to kumon
January 24, 2023

When I went to go take the test they put me to D because I got only 1 problem wrong, I got a the algebra problems correctly, when I was finished and I got on H, I asked for help for a few problems because I kept getting them wrong, when I asked them for help, they just tell me to skip it or do it at the end, I was literally crying and hiding my face but they didn't do anything and they acted like I didn't exist. I would prefer you to take other learning centers like Sylvan because it helped me with algebra and all the way I got to precalculus when I came to 9th grade, I am surpassing all of the other kids at my school and I have an avg GPA of 3.9. I am also taking Physics on sylvan tutor for college and it is really helping me. This company doesn't even deserve a star.

I am a sophomore in highschool and I have completed up to level M in kumon mathematics. Unfortunately, I STRONGLY do not recommend this program. First of all, students focus on the same subject for 200 pages (which is 1 level). The reason this is bad is because it takes a long time to complete one level and if students are focusing on the same thing, it takes them a very long time to move on to different subjects. You might be thinking "well they are just trying to get you to know the subject," but kumon basically just takes the same 35 questions and repeats them. Second reason is that it is VERY expensive. For worksheets that are not that effective, they make you pay a lot! So in my opinion, I would recommend other programs because this one is not good at all!
