Suck place!
January 13, 2023

I sent my child to Kelmscott Kumon Centre, Perth. My child hates Kumon because of the repetitive & mind-numbingly boring worksheets. Endless memorization. Staff are high school students who grade and don't teach.

Waste of money
January 9, 2023

Kumon is a memory based process which is for dumb people, they don't have any methodology for brain improvement.I put my kid at kumon and after a while when I asked new Lynn branch head ti explain me the method she was very rude and could not explain anything. As long she was making money she was extremely nice and when you question her she turns total opposite,I believe that says a lot about it.lots of parents who are not well educated they waste their money without understanding the methodology and its not going help their child in any way.I do not recommend Kumon to anybody.Jolly Sen(child -Pearl Ghosh)

Terrible
December 28, 2022

It was torture. They force you to sit there and do every problem till it's correct and give so much homework. I was at my lowest when I was at Kumon. Absolute torture. DONT PUT YOUR KIDS IN IT!

I would give it 4/5 but it got into my life too much like how am I supposed to enjoy the holiday. I get that I could just completely erase the gaming part of my routine but that's just going to make the entire day boring. More stress than it's really worth tbh

It sucks, so much.
December 6, 2022

I go here still, but it SUCKS. First of all, they give SO MUCH homework. It's terrible. And they time you. They say "mastery" but it's really speed and answers. Not even taking your time, it's so stupid. 2. honestly, the teachers aren't professional at all. I swear they hired some random young ladies and trained them for 10 minutes and called them skilled mathematicians. If your gonna own a math company, at least hire skilled people. 3. the so called "teachers" don't do ANYTHING. They are so lazy. They just sit there and use their answer book and write a big 100. They don't even help you. If you have a new concept, expect for them to say "figure it out yourself". I don't think anyone's paying for math for $100 a month. This is more like torture. 4. i have trouble focusing and a teacher likes to startle me. They also scream at you and say "PAY ATTENTION" like, excuse me? You could've said it quieter. 5. they all sit on their phones most of the times they aren't grading. It's so stupid and we're paying for nothing.

Straight to Collections
December 1, 2022

Read the termination requirements carefully as they will send you directly to collections and then to credit report without notification. Attempted to dispute with collection agency as requested, as Kumon NEVER even called me, and without a single response to my dispute I took a hit to my credit rating. Draconian practice and ruthless money grabbers. Foretold is forewarned.

Kumon is DUMB as $#*!
November 28, 2022

It just really sucks. Complete torture. The best way to make kids go into depression is to send them to Kumon.

I am now 18, but I was put in the Kumon program when I was in 4th grade and then taken out when I was in 6th. This program looks amazing with the "extra help for your kid", but it's also A LOT of extra work for a child. In the program there are 2 days where you come in and get "extra help" on your current work and receive work for the upcoming days. In the two days you spend inside the building it seems like they would help you out with work but actually they just told me OH THAT WRONG and sent me back to my seat, I actually cried in front of everyone because of how overwhelmed I was. I remember when I wanted to have a fun time with my friends in the summer but couldn't because I was spending time inside doing my Kumon work alongside with my primary school work. I also remembered how when I was in 5th grade I did extremely difficult math(for my age) in Kumon compared to what I was actually doing in my classroom. What would be ideal for Kumon to do is help students with their school work and catch them up, instead of piling extra work on them. Lastly, I'm a huge advocate for people who battle anxiety and depression. Let your children have a social life and enjoy their early life. It's important for children to be on the right road to success but this program causes so much excess pressure on kids.

Decatur Kumon
November 17, 2022

My mom enrolled me and my brother when I was in 4th grade and he was in kindergarden but he got on grade level work meanwhile I was put at a lower level and were flying by the problems so after a while my mom takes us out only to put us back in when I was in 5th grade then again my brother got grade level work so did I but they were lessons behind from what I was actually learning so it was hard for me because it wasn't what I was learning at the time and it was really confusing me and on top of that THE HOMEWORK was awful if I was on break from school I could forget about it because I STILL had kumon homework and had to go to kumon on top of that the graders we're doing anything but helping you and I had a new grader who was rasict and failed me on purpose but luckily my mom saw what they were doing and how what they made me do and what I was learning was not the same thing and took us OUT I am happy but PLEASE DON"T TAKE YOUR CHILD THERE it's a waste of your time, gas, and money

My mom enrolled me in Kumon in the 2nd Grade, because I was slow at math. It was ok at first, but slowly, it started getting worse and worse. When I was having difficulty, instead of helping me, my teachers shouted at me. And instead of helping me learn the lesson when I was having a hard time, they just made me do the entire worksheet over again. Kumon also assigns homeworks every day, so when you were on vacation, you couldn't even relax. On top of all that, it was hard to balance Kumon homeworks and school assignments. So either I wouldn't do my Kumon worksheets, or I would do my Kumon worksheets but my school assignments would be past due. Overall, I $#*!ing hated it.

Waste of time and useless
September 23, 2022

In my opinion, it is just so depressing to go there. The homework is just bad. They make you remember the anwser for each worksheet. As a result, you do not learn anything at all. I do not recommend other people to go there because it wastes time and money.

Horrible experience
September 10, 2022

Repetitive and extremely frustrating to do alongside school work. It's honestly like a suicide mission to do all this I highly recommend to hire a personal tutor that won't murder your child.

Kumon had been great and helpful program. My kids used to go to Kumon after school or sometime weekends to study for their school works. However, I found out about this online tutoring website for kids called Beestar from some friends of mine and surprisingly, it worked well for my kids. The fact that it is free and fully online, I've saved a lot of money and could spend more time with my kids and help them with their study.

Kumon isn't that bad
April 21, 2022

My mother enrolled me in Kumon when I was in second grade, and even though I've never liked doing Kumon that much, I recognized how massive of an advantage Kumon gave me when I was in fifth grade. In fifth grade, I was already doing seventh-grade math and some basic eighth-grade math. Right now, I am in sixth grade and I am currently doing tenth and eleventh-grade mathematics all thanks to Kumon. When I think of Kumon now, I can't think of any bad things about it other than it repeating the same worksheets over and over again for a long time in level F, which wasted alot of time, but I assumed it was probably just so we could do better in higher levels that require a solid foundation of level F.

Repetitive and Pointless
November 4, 2021

It's ridiculous don't waste your time. They put you at a lower level than what you go in for and don't help at all. I resorted to just cheating on my homework because it was so repetitive. Everytime I got close enough to pass a level they sent me back down to the 20s to restart. Thankfully band got in the way and I couldn't go anymore.

Not the best
April 15, 2019

The kids did not like the drill questions. I completely understand it is to help students with learning the basic skills and to have it memorized by heart but the whole system is just too exhausting for the kids. We use other online programs and so far Beestar has done a great job for the kids.

Medford, NJ - I enrolled my 10th grader to improve geometry. We never received the work we needed. She was begun at an early level to learn to add figures quickly. While this may be helpful, it was not what we requested. It was taking too long to advance, and my schedule became busy so that I wasn't able to continue after about a year. It would behoove center owners and managers to ask how long clients could realistically stay with the program and what their goals are to design it with the customer in mind. In addition, it would be helpful for them to ask periodically how happy we are with the service. With dissatisfaction comes negative word-of-mouth, which reduces possible business. It's up to the client, then, to be firm about their time frame and exactly what they want their student to learn if they are to be successful with Kumon, especially with an older child who is on a schedule. I trusted the owner, however, I passively accepted her guidance. I think many others have been dissatisfied as it is almost impossible to find even one review! (I searched diligently to find this thread.) Remember, you are the client - be firm about what you want your money to buy!
