I subscribed a few times this website on behalf of someone whom was subscribed before. My general impressions. The site is for free, but you get allways ennoying messages from admin that your profile is possible scam or other in orde to pay a fee of one sms and 5 euro's to pay pall. This never stops... each two day you recieve such a message. Another trick to scam money is to subcribe with a fee of allmost 20 euro's a profile from their website in order to make a good profile. They also go further by making themselves fake profiles and contact you. This is for me an example of scamming, stealing and malhonest conduct in spying on your computer by sending fake messages and other means. This is a pure crime organisation which is legalised. Let me address each point of your email, one by one.
Every new account that we add to our site goes through a strict automated verification and approval process the results of which are often double-checked by our live moderator. All suspicious profiles that fail to meet our standards do not get approved. Still, we give the people who try to set up substandard accounts a chance to verify their veracity. They can either confirm their identities by direct contact with our customer support or pay a small one-time fee which gets automatically refunded to their account for later use should they choose to buy from us any additional services that we provide. That means that anyone can always join our site for free. We never initiate contact with anyone who has attempted to open an account with us and was not approved. Those whose profile failed verification can only see our non-approval notice -- with an explanation about how to remedy the situation -- when they try to log onto our site via their non-activated account.
We do offer our members (both existing and potential) a service where, should they feel the need, we write (or re-write) their profile for them based on the info that they provide. Obviously, that service is non-obligatory, it comes with a fee, but we never contact anyone with solicitations in that regard.
We do not create fake accounts or make money off our members' correspondence volume (if it were true, we would have been millionaires years ago), and only 0.5% of our clientele pay for their membership. Our revenue comes exclusively from advertisers.
As for the unsolicited messages that you mention, please contact our customer support, so that we could try to trace the true origin of those emails, as they were not sent from our office.

However there are issues with this:
1. Online verification does verify that someone is real but it does not verify that they have a genuine character
2. The crediting of this small amount to your SMS account betrays the site's claim that it is free. It means that to continue to use the SMS features that one will continue to have to pay to use this feature of the site.
