It is worth paying a $5.00 monthly fee to NetSpend because I get unlimited transactions and I get paid direct deposit money sooner than anyone I work with. NetSpend also gives me free text alerts describing each transaction made so I never have to wonder what my balance is. NetSpend is a trustworthy prepaid card. They will even cover me if I overdraw up to 10 bucks since I have direct deposit. Just read their policies; very simple to understand, choose your plan and you won't be disappointed.
NetSpend is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. Their customer service reps are a complete joke. DO NOT USE NETSPEND. If anyone has any negative social media links, please share with me so I can spread the word.
I agree never use this company ever. They only want your money. I concur! Netspend told me that a company, whom I did not authorize to charge my card. I called netspend to get my money reversed back onto my card and they explained that I need to cut up my card. WAIT 20 DAYS TO DISPUTE THIS TRANSACTION. Thats when I said this a CRYING SHAME. Bought a prepaid card but when I went to activate it I had no idea you had to send them a picture of your social security card and a ID like wtf no business should ever need you to send them that kind of information online so I refused and wanted my $40 refund back which they said they can only send me a check but when I got the check a week later I couldn't cash it anywhere because not one single bank or money place would accept it which to me is because netspend is shady af and their checks are considered a third party check which no one wants to cash so ya even though they gave me a refund they still made sure I got screwed over. So I guess my 40 dollars just went down the drain. So all i could say is DO NOT ASSOCIATE WITH NETSPEND IN ANY WAY

This company thrives on fees due to their own errors.
Charged me $5 to add a $200 check to my account. I then went to a restaurant, (with $200 in my account) and my card was declined. Tried twice to use the ATM to pay my bill and was declined. Hmm... what to do? I was out of town, no cash, card declined, ATM declined but owe for food I had already eaten. Luckily my waitress was kind enough to pay out of her own pocket, embarrassing.
So let's see, I paid $5 to load a check, $3 for two ATM transactions and can't use MY money.
I then check my balance which was not only empty, but in the negative. Laughable right?
Sent an email to the check loading company that Netspend uses and also an email to Netspend. Inconveniently, I'll have to wait 48 hours for them to reply, but miraculously I get an email stating my check couldn't be loaded. (After they charged me $5 to load it and it said check was accepted)
Still waiting for a reply from Netspend and can only imagine what nonsense they'll have to tell me.
It's obvious how they make their profit.
I'll give them a chance to make it right and earn their trust, but don't see that happening. And then I'll be on my way to cancel card and find a legitimate company.
I'll also add that this is just a fraction of my disappointment with Netspend, but have wasted enough of my time.
I would not recomment this company, this company closed my account # *******792 for no rason, this company forced you to have a mailing address, about about if your are homeless, well that is the reason why they closed my account because
I could not proof them my address, please, closed you guys account do not open an account with this company, IRS gave me my stimulus since march ever since have not received it.

Please do not ever use NetSpend or HEB debit which is actually a part of NetSpend but it would seem that the NetSpend customer service don't know that. Do not use these accounts because if your account is ever compromised they won't even have the courtesy of closing the account for you because I've asked and mine is still open and still being used by someone else!

My husband debit card wa stolen with his license. Whoever took it went to another state to 3 different banks and took 13,900 from us. We called after talking with 13 reps 3 supervisors, and also sent them proof that we was at work during those transactions also sent police report identification fraud report still havent recieve funds. NEVER USE THEM, i cancelled 2 subscriptions a week before and they took out the transactions anyway with out the companies requesting it or my approving it and then cancelled the card with out my approval and held up my money for 2 weeks so i had no cash at all and they could care less! They charged the card with out any approval from anyone or request from anyone. Use a different pre-load debit card! AND STILL DONT HAVE MY MONEY FROM THE CANCELLED CARD AND MOST LIKELY WILL NEVER SEE IT AGAIN EITHER!
I filed my taxes in 2021 and I received them on an NetSpend card I was able to use some of my money and then they blocked my card and close my account I had a remaining balance on my account that I have not been able to touch since last year because they keep giving me the runaround telling me yes your checks and issued or they put me on hold and hang up on me or the supervisor gets on the phone and tells me not to worry that the issue my check I should be getting it by such day and that day comes and I still haven't received anything it's been over a year since I have not been able to get my income tax money and it's very frustrating I want to sue them

Well, I bought pre-paid debit card, not knowing they are related to ACE CASH SERVICES. When I tried to activate the card over the telephone, they told me the transaction could not be completed. The system then transferred to the customer service, after waiting a short time, the system then told me it was after hours and would have to call back. I have sent all the information requested from me and still waiting! Oh, by the way I have money loaded on the card:(
My advice to everyone is to avoid the NETSPEND or ACE Prepaid debit cards!
I had hell trying to get card activated and then they got the nerve to charge someone 1.50 for every transaction. Thay is just to steal money. There is not A need to charge for every transaction. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS CARD. NEVER EVER GET RIPPED OFF LIKE THIS. BY CHIME OR GREEN DOT ANYTHING BUT NETSPEND. THEY DESERVE NO STARS.

Wish I could give them zero stars. They are a scam. Our daughter received their card from her grandfather for her birthday. He thought it was a gift card, as it is deceivingly placed among the gift cards in the stores. To access the money, you have to call and give your Social Security number and open an account. Because we didn't do this for over 90 days, they tried to tell us the card had expired, and that there was no money. I argued that there was $50 loaded on there. Eventually they agreed to forward my money to an account. This was in Dec. The card was came while I was on vacation, so when I got to activating it in early Feb, I found they had been deducting a $5.95 fee from the month of Aug - 4 months prior to when I called to activate it! My balance was $14.95. I was able to recover some of the fees, but after the fee to send a check of the remaining balance, I walked away with $32. They stole the difference of $18 from a two year old child. Truly, they are a deplorable company.

I had netspend for almost two years no issues. I went to reload my card and could not. I reached out to netspend and was told fraud activity was reported so I would have to get a new card which I did, only when I tried to activate I could not. Then I call netspend back, I'm told I can no longer be a customer, for no explanation what so ever. I put 500 in card and told I have to wait for a refund in check form and it has to be 10 business days. I should not have to wait that long to get my money, it's my money. I reached out to corporate and they are a bigger joke than their customer service. They never sent me anything in email, phone, or mail there was an issue with my account. And corporate email says they for security reasons can not tell me why they shut my service off, I have never ever seen or heard anything like this? Until I researched and seen they gave done this to several others and FTC even filed suit against them for this. How are they still in business and why is this allowed? From my research I can basically see most are shut down after they use card for larger card or multiple card reloads after taxes, unemployment retro pay etc. which is stupid on netspend part to shut people down thinking this is a security issue. It's common especially during pandemic. Omg I despise their whole dumb company and wish I never ever used them,
I will not recommend anyone to open an account with netspend they suck. They know I reported my card stolen my card is still not here it's been 14 days what is going on

My name Damon I received 1200 from my stimulus from the irs and they deposited in to the net spend account they lied to me saying they sent out my card and never did then I ask for account closure and they closed the account and suppose to return my balance in 7 to 10 business days and I never received anything and been going thru this since June 19 of this year I have gotten a lawyer whose going to open up a claim because this pain and suffering I have documented all phone calls all emails and all chats all they did was lie to keep my money and I'm almost homeless because of netspend

After my home burned down I was about to received my insurance installment and since I no longer have an address to receive a check I went with NetSpend to have it direct deposited. I called to make sure the temporary card wouldn't pose any issues, I was told no problem we will order your permanent card and you can use the temporary one until then. OMG WORST MISTAKE EVER! After the transfer was made even after it showed posted they still put a hold on it until I receive permanent card and the day before card was to arrive they rejected the deposit. I am on the street and they are telling me it will take 6 days for it to be returned. WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT OF A TEMPORARY CARD AND THEY ORDERED THE PERMANENT ONE JUST TO USE THAT REASON TO DENY THE TRANSFER. I AM TIRED OF THEM EXPIRING MY CARD EVERY 6 MONTHS! I have a card and have NEVER received the Permanent card with my name on it. WHen i go to use the card it declines. When i call NETSPEND, they tell me that my card expired even though the date on it is 2 years into the future and waives the processing fee then when i get the new temp card, it charges me a $5-8 processing fee. I've HAD IT and they won't get my business ANYMORE! DUECES $#*!ES!
Got this card as a gift card from a friend. Trying to activate this without any social iDs and they would not allow as their ONLY INTENTION IS TO MAKE MONEY THROUGH INACTIVITY FEE IMPOSED ON THE CARD.
They keep transferring you to the IVR to reset the PIN and IVR does not have that option.
THEY ARE A FRAUD... DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR SOCIAL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.

When you have an un authorized payment coming in customer account you cancel the transaction NOT CUSTOMER CARD and then you keep customer money lock in your bank! Worse your representative offers me a new card with option to pay 25$ to have delivered 1-2 days the card or I'm waiting for 7 days for new card. Do you will pay my late fee penalties for my bills or you thing I will feed my family with grass? IDIOTS this is my money and you never should to block my access to take my money and pay you maintenance fee and fee for new card.
