Avoid At All Costs
February 8, 2024

I want to say most of the Customer Service representatives I talked to were fine. They were doing things by the book they were given.

That being said, our experience was fairly poor. It is frustrating to be given a date and time for pickup during work hours consistently. My wife and I work medical jobs where we have patients scheduled out weeks in advance. We made arrangements to be available at the time/date/location given. The day before our pickup, the instructions disappeared from the website. When I called to see what happened, it turned out that the drop-off was rescheduled to the next week because the breeder did not get the dog to the vet on time. The only reason I found out was because I called. I rescheduled patients to be available the following week. This was rescheduled 2 days before pickup day to the next day due to weather. This was not PuppySpot's fault but frustrating. I rescheduled patients a 2nd time. The day before our pickup, the instructions disappeared from the website AGAIN. I called and PuppySpot did not know why our dog was not picked up. I had to call the transportation company who told me that the breeder thought the pickup was next week and the 31 week old puppy "was not ready". Our concerns were elevated to a manager who offered us $100 off the delivery fee but there was no flexibility on their end to ensure our puppy was delivered. We did finally get our puppy the next week but the saga continues.

The puppy we received is terrified of humans. He was clearly not socialized enough during his time as a young puppy. He won't let us pet him. He is scared of almost all noises. We cannot hold him to give him a bath. If we walk towards him he runs away. He won't eat treats so training has been tough. We have to keep a leash on him at all times just to be able to collect him in the house for walks or crate training. We are doing everything we can. We are going to work with an Animal Behavior Specialist. He is not a bad dog. He means well and is sweet. He actually gets along with our dogs very well. He just is scared of us and this falls on the breeder. The medical paperwork is covered in white out and edited dates. It indicates his rabies vaccine was given on his birthday. How? Again, on the breeder.

PuppySpot did little to nothing to help us get our dog and they clearly do not screen their breeders. The puppy we received was clearly from a Puppy Mill, something PuppySpot claims they never work with.

VERY Dishonest! Employees paid by commission and say anything for a sale!
December 5, 2023

I recently bought 2 puppies through puppy spot. I was told by the representative, *, that the company is very proactive to make sure they only use the best breeders including doing unannounced visits to ensure the dogs are gettiong great care. * also highly recommended Premier Puppy Transport (they get a commission on the sale as well). * at Puppy Spot said there were no more that 8 to 10 puppies in the van at a time, there were 25 (per the driver)! I would have gone to pick them up as I did not want them to have to listen to a bunch of barking and possibly be traumatized. She also said the puppies would arrive in about 18 hours as the drivers would drive straight through to minimize any trauma; They arrived in 2 days! Puppy Spot also put my 2 puppies from 2 different litters in the same crate without my permission and still charge the same price as if they were in the same crate! * gave me a quoate of $400 I recieved documentation from Puppy Premier Transport the charge was $435 BUT Puppy Spot charge my credit card $700 EACH! When I picked them up the driver put baby powder all over both of them to try to cover up the smell of urine and poo all over them. BOTH puppies had giardia and were SIGNIFICANTLY under weight per the vet but it was really obvious and did not take a vet to tell me they were under weight. When I call Puppy Spot the management, *, was absolutely ignorant and condesending, saying "you don't know where they got the infection (giardia)." Which ofcourse since it is a 21 day incubation period the puppies got it from the breeder. They would not tell me when a site visit was last done at the breeder as * said it was "confidential". Puppy Spot also charged me $125 for a bunch of crap that I did not want! On the phone * told me they would be sending a puppy package but never said they would charge my credit card $150 for each puppy. Puppy Spot is an awful business that is part of the problem of puppy mills! I met a man at Pet Smart that bought a bernadoodle from the same breeder in Ohio who had the same experience. Because of the giardia - NO POSSIBLE WAY the breeder and the transporters did not know the puppies had the parasite as it has a very distinct color, greenish/ grayish in the stool and smell- I spent 2 1/2 weeks just taking them out every 30 - 45 minutes (every 1-2 hours at night) and have to throw away 2 very expensive rugs. The total cost of the each puppy was $4k which I was ok paying "knowing" they were coming from a good breeder and would be transported in a van with a vet tech that would take them out on a schedule and play with them in a play area as scheduled per * at Puppy Spot... none of which happened per the driver and management at Puppy Spot. * said to certified vet techs would be in the large Mercedes van and as one was driving the other would be taking the puppies out to put them in the play area and change the pads etc. Do not use Puppy Spot! Or Puppy "Premier" Transport!

Tip for consumers:

Puppy Spot is part of the puppy mill problem. Please do not use them!

Products used:

Puppy Spot would not give me a partial refund even though the puppies were VERY ill and under weight and the puppies had so much lose stool over a couple of weeks I had to throw out 2 very expensive rugs.
