I was scammef
April 22, 2023

Unable to book the motel I wanted on-line, I was forced to call. Although the room was only $60, the clerk kept me on hold for 20 minutes while she "looked" for a better rate" By the time she returned, the room was gone. She then recommended another, for twice the cost. I was trying to quickly book a room so I could get to Manitoba to bury my recent deceased father so really had no time to shop around. I checked the map provided and the property was shown near the Walmart center in Regina, Sk. Basically across the street from where I had wanted to stay so I booked it.
Upon arrival 3 things became apparent. 1. It was no where near where it was shown on their map, but in the seedy part of town, 2. I could have walked in off the street and gotten a far better rate than what they charged me and 3. It was the same motel my husband and I had been forced to stay at, pre-covid, and the thermostat hadn't worked, the door didn't close properly, I had fallen in the tub trying to take a shower, and we were kept awake all night by a truck roaring in and out of the parking lot, delivering drugs and prostitutes. In fact, that same truck was parked in the parking lot when I arrived.
As there was no way I was staying there alone, or with anyone else for that matter, I immediately left, and found accommodations as where. I immediately contacted reservations.con and had to ask to speak to a manager as the clerk was less than useless. Her first question was if I spoke to the motel clerk to which I reminded her that I did not make the booking with the motel, but with them, and there was no way I was getting out of my car in that neighborhood. She said thatvI agreed to the no refund policy and if the motel eas not willing to issue a refund, which,of course, it was not, there was nothing they could do. I reminded her that not only did they lie about the modtel's location and amenities, they had scammed me from the beginning by not immediately booking the room I asked for and keeping me on hold until it was no longer available. Plus, I asked how she or anyone could think that the property they recommended to me was appropriate for a single woman, or for amy decent person. She responded that she really didn't understand what the Lesser was and there was nothing she could do.

THEY ARE BIG TIME SCAMSTERS (IMO)
September 15, 2022

In MY OPINION & experience, their services equate to SCAMSTERs.

I live in Canada, & was booking a hotel in a Canadian city. I typed in the Hotel Name & the first link that came up in Google Search was this site.

SCAM 1 - The page is designed to look as the hotel site. It does not look resemble a normal reservations site (like booking.com or Trip-adviser). I thought I was dealing with the hotel. I wasn't. Scam 1.

SCAM 2 - With such pathetic ratings on multiple sites, they do not deserve to be at the top of Google Search. They have IMO paid people to bump them up to highest on Google Search. Scam 2.

SCAM 3 - They show prices in $. Not C$, not US$. Just $.

Now every single booking site I've used from Canada (Trip-Advisor, Booking.com) displays the price in C$ for Canadian hotels automatically, as they should. Not this site. It displays in US$, yet does not show the U$ sign; just $. Scam 3.

SCAM 4 - The price they showed included only the Hotel Fee. Not taxes. Not their booking fees. No breakdown. Just the daily hotel fee. Further, this is the amount shown on the page where payment data is input. When people reach the payment input page, they assume the $ shown is the payment amount. Not for this site. Scam 4

SCAM 5 - Usually, genuine businesses process transactions in the following steps:
(a) Inputting payment data on the 'Payment Data Input' page, & Enter,
(b) The next page is usually a 'Payment Confirmation Request' page, with a full analysis of total costs, asking for final confirmation. This is the page people review their intended transaction before accepting. Hit Enter.
(c) Only after that is the transaction complete, & a 'Payment Confirmation' issued.

For these scamsters, there is no step (b). Hitting Enter on (a) completes the transaction, & (c) the 'Payment is Confirmed' is displayed! Scam 5.

SCAM 6 - It is only on the 'Payment Confirmed' page (c above) that one realizes (1) The total is in U$, not C$ and (2) the total costs is far more to what they had shown. This page also says their service fee of U$19.99 is non-refundable. Scam 6. Yet the scam does not end here.

SCAM 7 - When I phoned in to cancel RIGHT AFTER my scam booking, they informed me I am cancelling within the penalty period, so I will be charged CIRCA U$199 (?) rather than $19.99. In most proper sites, the penalty kicks in if cancelling less than 24 hours before check-in date. Not so this scam site. I wanted to cancel nearly SEVEN DAYS, yes, 7 days before check-in. Yet they refused. The final scam.

All in all DISGUSTED. From a short 3 day business trip for 1 person which I was tricked to believe would cost me C$ 300, I am dishing out around C$ 550.

I would rate them zero or negative stars if I could. They are the sort of sites which make you want to persuade Internet Gurus to add a negative star button.

I will investigate if it is even legal to (a) not show full price PROMINENTLY before payment, & (b) not allow a Confirmation Request page (to allow the customer to review the transaction before payment is finalised).

IMO, one word. SCAMSTERS.

Tip for consumers:

To know that Reservations.com, from what I have experienced & IMO, has been set up as a sophisticated scam from A to Z. Their swindling is not a breakdown of services in a company with genuine intent, yet a cleverly-thought-out scam. Google Search Engine should tighten their controls to prevent scam companies with pathetic reviews from customers hiring people to bump them to the top of the Google Search List.

Horrible experience with horrible customer service!
November 9, 2021

I booked a room at the MGM GRAND SIGNATURE Las Vegas, Nevada for my wedding. My arrival date was September 30,2021 and my departure was October 4,2021. I was told from the rep when I booked that once arriving at the hotel I would have a $60 essential fee but when I arrived I had a $300 essential fee. That was the first lie! Once I got settled in I noticed that my linen had dried blood and the headboard had dried human body secretions on it. I immediately called the concierge and was told because o booked with reservations.com that I had to contact them. Well I did and everytime I got someone on the phone and explained my disappointment they hung up on me. Each time I called back I spoke with someone different and they said we had bad connections. But even after all that they did nothing. So, I called house keeping and the supervisor moved me immediately to another room and attempted (per her supervisor) to refund me $175. The reason I say attempted because this is November 9,2021 and I have yet to receive my refund that they put on a ghost card. To top all that off there were no dishes in the room. I had guest coming and I asked for dishes just to be told I would have to pay $45 for dishes to be delivered to the room. So. I was ok with that considering I had guest coming but then they refused to bring the dishes because of some dispute between the hotel and the owner of the condo. They told me to go buy paper plates and cups... yes that's what I was told. I did what I could to pull off my dinner and prepared for my wedding. Once I arrived back home I called reservations.com and made a formal complaint and I even called with the housekeeping supervisor on the phone because she wanted to ensure I received my refund. Yet I have not received my refund of $175 that was put on a ghost card so it could be credited to my credit card. I've sent several emails getting nothing back from reservations.com but some lame excuse about it takes time for them to investigate and once there investigation is complete then it takes time for they're accounting department to get the request and honor it. My suggestion to anyone is to absolutely never book with reservations.com because their integrity is Deplorable. I have pictures of the nasty linen and headboard and yet they have not accommodated me at all. I explained more times than I cared to that this was my wedding and they did nothing. So if at all possible do not book with them because they have horrible customer service and I'm sure you will be devastingly disappointed.

Worst Company Ever! Pop Up Screens making you believe you are with the hotel- 50%+ fees
May 24, 2021

This is the worst company I have ever done business with in the last 50 years. They are a complete scam! They have built a search engine that interrupted my normal hotel inquiry, leading me to believe I was booking with the hotel directly.

AFTER I completed the reservations, and received the confirmation email, I saw:
1. The rate was not the rate I agreed on, but higher.
2. Fees and taxes had been assessed that equaled MORE THAN % of my rental.
3. A non refundable provision was added in the receipt.

When I called to complain, they told me not only did the fees appear before I was to have "confirmed" the reservation. They also conveyed in addition to the fees, there was a no refund policy posted as well. That was it. They basically said have a nice day and hung up. What I think is astounding is while they lay claim these "fees" and non refundable policy was clearly written before confirming the reservation, I have just read through countless complaints on this site where people have alleged like me, they received no notice. What seems clear is regardless of whether the notice of fees and the non refundable policy was actually posted, if it was posted, it was done in such a way that counted consumers were able to navigate through their reservation site without every being aware these policies existed.

My only hope is you are upset as I am this company has scammed us and are willing to take a few minutes to file a complaint against them with the Attorney General's office of Florida where they are headquartered. It is a quick and easy process. I am providing the link here.

http://myfloridalegal.com/Contact.nsf/Contact?OpenForm&Section=Consumer_Protection_Division

As grounds, I would suggest conveying (1) their site "popped up" while you were trying to make a reservation. (2)The rate advertised was not what you got. (3)There was no advance warning of the fees. (4)There was no advance warning it was not refundable. And please include (5) the fees assessed were more than 50% of the actual reservation. (My hotel, $62. The fees and taxes assessed, $46!)

Horrible!
August 14, 2020

Be very very careful of this. My parents and I had driven 8 hours to get to my uncles house. He'd passed away and we need to get there and take care of things. After we got his house taken care of, we drove to fairfield inn and the woman was on the phone so I figured I'd go ahead and book while we waited. I went fairfield in jacksonville, NC on google and clicked on the link that came up, not realizing it wasn't fairfield inn, it was reservations.com. I get that it's totally my fault, but again, circumstances were difficult. I booked and then showed the woman at the desk. For some reason the reservation had switched to florida and had billed me for TWO nights two rooms not one night two rooms! So I called immediately and explained the situation. After much discussion and difficulty with understanding... the woman told me they'd refund but it had to be in the AM. when their business office was open. That they'd expedite it to the right place but to call back and verify. So I did. And after being disconnected several times while being transferred and finally getting a person she told me I'd see the refund in a few days. They just had to contact the hotel first. Well. Still nothing. This site is a scam. Please be careful when booking and certainly do not use Reservations.com if you can help it!

Update: they kept telling me they could not get a hole of the manager at the Fairfield in in Jacksonville who would need to OK the refund. I called myself and spoke right away to Amanda who was wonderful. She assured me that of course she would agree to a refund and they just needed to call. They obviously weren't. I mean... the manager ANSWERED the phone! I called Reservations.com back. I was on on hold 30 minutes. Got person. She again told me she'd expedite it to management and they would call me back in whatever amount of time but most likely the hotel would not agree to a refund. I told her I'd spoken to Amanda at Fairfield and she had agreed to a full refund. She put me on hold again. 20 min later. Ok we will get to your refund in 4 days. No. You'll get to my refund now. Back on hold. Comes back. Ok, your refund for $533.08 ave been processed. You'll see in on your card in whatever amt of days. I did have an email upon hanging up with her. My only concern is it was two emails were sent for 266.54 which makes me wonder if perhaps they aren't refunding 266.54 and send the email twice to act as though they credited the full amt. I guess I'll have to see. If not I will file a complaint with the credit card.

BEWARE OF DECEITFUL AND MISLEADING TACTICS
August 13, 2020

This company is THE MOST DECEITFUL AND MISLEADING company I have ever dealt with. I went online to make a hotel reservation, I clicked on the hotel, had no idea at all I was on reservation.com because the website is designed to look just like the hotel website. I got the room I wanted and wanted to confirm, however the page never showed me a breakdown of fees. The cost of the room was $139.00, I clicked on that and the next thing I know, I get a screen saying that my transaction was complete. I did not know the total until I got a confirmation email- the total I ended up paying was $193.02! I immediately called the customer service number (which was on the email I received) to tell them to cancel the transaction and ask why I was never given a breakdown of fees prior to the site confirming the reservation. I was sent a breakdown of fees in an email, the sales tax was DOUBLE what the actual hotel charged in sales tax. I asked how that is possible, they said that they have to charge a third party tax. WHY WOULD ANYONE USE THIS WEBSITE? Of course when I told the useless customer service representative I wanted to cancel my reservation, she informed me that all of their transactions are nonrefundable. Of course they are, this is what thieves do! My friend booked at the actual hotel website and only paid $150.00 total! I'm not sure how this company gets away with this. They make their website look just like the hotel website so you have no idea that you're about to get screwed out of money. I couldn't continue with this review without giving it a rating. That is the ONLY REASON that there is one star rating! BEWARE OF THEIR UNDERHANDED TACTICS

Scam, across State Lines!
September 25, 2019

I booked a Hotel room with Reservations.com a couple of days ago, they were offering a room $40 cheaper than other sites. When I filled in the forms and clicked on to pay I was charged $80 more than their listed price!

I managed to get through to their "customer support" I asked them for an explanation, to be told "it's all in the T&C's, we charge a booking fee.

I've no problem with paying a reasonable booking fee but the amount should be made clear on the Room Rate page, not hidden in the 11,551 words of their so called T&C's!

If you read a word a second of the T&C's it would take you over 3 HOURS to read!
Is anyone going to do that!

I told the girl that I wasn't pleased with the extortionate fee to be told "I can cancel the booking for you" she was KEEN to do that, but I had noted that if the booking was cancelled there would be no refund at all, so how would that help me!

I repeated my displeasure to be REPEATEDLY asked "DO YOU WANT ME TO CANCEL THE BOOKING". I wasn't going to fall into that trap so I said NO! And left it like that.

After looking on the www to see if anyone else had a problem with them, or one of their many subsidiaries I find that these guys have perfected this SCAM. They offer rooms $30 to $40 less than other web sites, then when you click PAY you are charged HIDDEN fees and finish up paying $30 to $40 MORE than other web sites!

If that's not bad enough, if you complain they automatically cancel your room and take your money anyway! Perfect SCAM!

Could it get worse, well, yep, folks have turned up at Hotels to find that either they haven't been booked in, even though they have a Booking Confirmation from Reservations.Com then they have either to Pay Again or find another Hotel!

No matter which way the cat jumps THOUSANDS of people have been ripped off!

Luckily for me my buddy lives in Orlando where they have a "registered address" not that he will be knocking on their door, but he will be registering a complain with the Local Police Dept in Orlando, add to that as this SCAM is repeatedly operated across State Lines it will be brought to the attention of the FBI.

With that in mind it will help referring them to sitejabber to get an idea how often this SCAM is being perpetrated.

If you have been affected add your name to the list, I WILL keep everyone informed.

The bottom line is, don't touch these guys with a flag pole!

Paul.
