Bought a pair of Billie boots by Frye. Had for 2 years. I do not wear daily. There are holes in the soles of the boots. I have taken to get resoled at a tune of $70. I paid $300 2 years ago. I've wore Ariats for 6 years, thru mud, water and wore a lot never resoled and now Dingos.
The resale site sold me a "pair" of shoes that one was like new the other was worn out. The ad only showed the good shoe. Definitely not a pair of shoes. I have been on a customer service treadmill ever since with no one taking responsibility or even caring that I was scammed
I will new buy from Frye or RECURATE ever. I would have gotten better support from ebay.
When my boots arrived with light cosmetic damage (a small silver mark on the leather and a loose stitch on the sling), I was afraid of how an attempt at an exchange would go, due to the poor reviews on this site and a few others. Fortunately, my experience could not have gone better!
I had ordered the boots express in preparation for a vacation that's around the bend, and had no idea if an exchange would be possible within my limited time frame. When I reached out to customer service (via email) to explain the problem, they wrote back within 24 hours, immediately apologized and promised to send me a new pair within a few days.
Sure enough, a new pair in perfect condition arrived as promised - an impressive feat considering it was Labor Day weekend and the mail delivery can be iffy at best.
I could not ask for better customer care; my boots are beautiful and true to size (Veronica Combat, size 8, for the curious -- though just to note, I tend to fit well in narrow shoes, which these are); and they wear comfortably so far. I'm happy I took a chance on Frye!
I used to love Frye products. That is until I learned that Frye doesn't even stand behind its quality claim. After normal use, 2 of my 3 Frye bags developed broken handles/clasps holding the straps to the bag. After jumping through NUMEROUS hoops, the first bag was sent to be repaired, and upon its return, was slip-shoddy quality at best. For the second bag, my option was, again, to have the bag sent away, at my expense, to be repaired, but Frye would not GUARANTEE the work. This is unacceptable! I have spent thousands of dollars on their products, and was told they will only warranty then up to 30 days. DO NOT BUY FRYE!
I placed an order for $400 pair of boots. This was not a sale item; I paid full price. When I went onto the site, it said that I would receive free 2-day shipping, but when I received the order confirmation, it said that it was being shipped UPS. I immediately called Frye (this was within minutes of placing the order) and was told that there was nothing they could do to honor this offer. I then directed them to cancel the order, and they said they couldn't do that. I then sent an email to their customer service department who also refused to honor the 2-day shipping offer. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I will never buy products from them again.
Just received my newest and last pair of Frye boots now that they are being made in China. They your being an american company since the 1880's, that just isn't the truth.
My husband bought me a pair of very expensive boots for my birthday not realizing he only had 30 days to get a refund if they did not fit properly when he called the company they refused to give any help and I am left with a pair of boots that do not fit I have bought Frye boots all my life and I've never experienced customer care service like this shame on you frye they refused to take into account that both my husband and I had Covid and so extending the delay of returning a pair of boots that did not fit
I have been a loyal customer of Frye Boots for almost 30 years. I recently purchased a pair of boots where the shipping company claimed they were delivered and they weren't. Later they changed the status to being held for pick. I reached out to the Frye Boots to make sure they had used the correct address, etc. The response was you didn't pay for the shipping insurance so we will not assist you. These weren't cheap boots mind you. I was able to reach out to the shipping company and thankfully their customer service was quite good. Frye had not put my street address on the shipping label and that is why they weren't delivered. After jumping through a few hoops the shipping company was able to get my boots delivered the next day. Kudos to the shipping company. My response to Frye Customer service was, after 30 years I will no longer be a Frye customer, please remove my contact information from all your databases. Frye Customer Services response to that was, no problem we will remove your contact information. Apparently Frye has no need of loyal customers or repeat customers.
I recently purchased a "antiqued brown, Veronica bootie in the size I've been wearing for 4 decades. First off they were not antiqued, barely! I did not try them on immediately KNOWING I ordered MY size! I decided to "distress" them myself, I love the "worn" look, just not thinking whatsoever about the fit! After I was done distressing them, I TRIED like heck to even get them on! (I know my fault for distressing, and could not get a return) they run ATLEAST a WHOLE size smaller than your normal size! After I got one on, it was so tight on my foot, I couldn't get it off! Once I did, I used a "shoe stretcher" on them for DAYS! And STILL can't get them on my foot! I measured up to other numerous boots of mine, and they are indeed, ONE SIZE smaller than what label states! Oh I'm pissed! Buyer beware! Order larger, and the antiqued look MUCH better in photo than in person, they are NOT! OUCH!
I am very disappointed with the incredible decline of quality with the Frye product. What once was an admirable company is now terribly poor.
I ordered two pairs or boots from Frye. I paid $25 for overnight shipping and placed the order on a Sunday (2/14). On Monday (2/15) I received notification that it was shipped and I'd receive it on Tuesday (2/16) as planned. On Wednesday (2/16) I received a notice that Inwoukd now receive it on Thursday (2/17). I contacted Frye and asked for them to refund my overnight shipping cost since they failed to deliver it overnight. On 2/16 (before it was delivered) they told me that "The package was delivered within the correct time frame as the order was delivered with the next business day shipping as the order did not ship until 2/16."
When the package arrived on 2/17 - 3 business days after I placed my order, one box of boots had a left size 10 and right size 9.5 (for one paid of boots). I notified them and asked to overnight me the correct pair/sizes and refund my overnight shipping. Here's was their response:
"
Great News! We have processed the exchange for you. You will receive an email containing a return label to return the unwanted item within 24-48 hours. You will then receive an email with the new order information for the exchange. Please allow 5-7 business days to receive the new item"
I reminded them that I had paid for overnight shipping which they failed on and would t refund me, then they made a mistake and sent a pair of different sizes boots and now they were going to take a week to send me the correct ones!
I was pissed and told them to cancel everything and send me a return label for my original order. They said they would not and could not do that as they had begun to place my new order. I told them that I would not accept the new order and that I wanted to return the existing wrong order. They still will not provide a return label. I'm now going to call my credit card and contest the charge as Frye is refusing to allow me to return these boots. Terrible service and a terrible company.
They took my money and never sent me my shoes. Sent emails with no response. Had to actually file a PayPal claim to get my money back
I bought a pair of frye's about 9 years ago- for the first two years they were my every day knock around boots - they are the best boots I've ever owned and after getting them resoled about 4 years ago they still hold up great. I have another pair that I wear less frequently (but still quite a lot) that I got about a year after the first pair and they're still in great condition
BUT - just last month my boyfriend got a pair of Bowry Bals that he saved up for because I talked the company up so much, and they were the absolute perfect style. After wearing them three times the glue attaching the leather to the sole of the show started to degrade and the leather started to separate. He went in to try another pair on, and in the same size the fit was completely different and one of the eyelets had a sharp piece of metal sticking out that cut him.
I could not be more disappointed in how their quality has gone down from when I got mine. Looking at the other shoes, there were defects in so many styles and trying on certain pairs the sizing was all over the place. The leather seems thinner and less durable. A one time fluke is one thing, but for such expensive shoes, seeing this happen again and again is not acceptable. From what I've heard they've started outsourcing their production to Mexico and China, and in the past 6 years their company has changed quite a bit.
I hope they start having a higher quality standard, but until then, I can't trust/rely on them anymore. We returned the boots for a refund and will be looking elsewhere - on the plus side, their customer service was absolutely wonderful, their managers in store were fantastic and very generous and kind. If the product was better quality, I would stick to frye just for their customer service and great designs. But for $400, there are other options.
Frye has a rating of 1.4 stars from 54 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Frye most frequently mention and customer service. Frye ranks 175th among Leather sites.
