When I found topstackresume.com and the personal recruiter service I thought that I would have a huge advantage and perhaps even save myself a lot of time in the job search. I. Was. Disastrously. Wrong. Everything started out great. The initial call was encouraging, the person I was assigned to sounded engaged, interested, and fully capable of assisting me in my search for a new job. I paid the first month, and that is when things started to backslide. Things seemed to take longer than expected. Engagement seemed to wain and expectations didn't seem to be a real priority. I requested that a resume be submitted for a specific position and would check in on a weekly basis and it would be excuses. "Sorry, I forgot about that", "Slipped my mind", etc. It took a full four weeks for that resume to be submitted. I paid a second month and am now 2,300 dollars in and things have only gotten worse. I paused the service so that the personal recruiter could get caught up. I'm now a full three months in from the date I started the service and we STILL have not met the agreed upon conditions of the first month. I have even helped and supplied what would be 20% of the leads for positions. I'm not sure if my recruiter is overbooked, or perhaps they aren't enthusiastic about me... maybe they just don't like me. I started feeling like the only time I am on their radar is when I schedule a call. Short bursts of activity crop up during calls, often without the results landing in my workbook. The status of applications and resumes has never been updated by the recruiter, which is something that is listed in the service. I finally decided to put this to the test. I didn't schedule a conversation for two weeks. My theory holds water. Absolutely nothing has been done. Furthermore, there has been deception occurring. I have been advised that I have been submitted for jobs, but when I go to check on the status of the resume there is nothing there. This is on the exact same account we have used on previous applications and those previous submissions show up, but not the new ones that were discussed. Feeling frustrated, I went and checked the reviews. The recruiter I was assigned to has some great reviews. So why is my case so different? Regardless, this has not been a productive or fruitful relationship. It has been one dropped ball after another, and a nearly unbroken chain of failures and unmet obligations.
My experience has been that this is a waste of time and money.
