I've done 3 separate orders for US$ from travelfx.co.uk for varying sums all via the moneysavingexpert.com site's travelmoney comparison tool and if you follow all the instructions and submit the payment ontime then the money arrives as expected, no hitches no worries.
I placed an order for Euros 5 days before I was due to travel. I completed their online order form and paid the correct amount in sterling into their bank account.
They then found every excuse not to 'dispatch' my Euros. Firstly, they said they didn't receive my money until the day after (my bank has written confirming their bank received the funds on the same day I transferred them). They then said at 09:00 in the morning that they had finished dispatching monies for that day and they would dispatch the Euros the day before I was due to travel.
I told them that wasn't acceptable. I had to beg for my monies back, so I could go and purchase elsewhere. In exchange for me getting my money back they charged me £443 for cancelling my order.
When challenged about their delay in dispatching the Euros purchased, the cancellation fees, the latest excuse is that delays in dispatching currencies are now COVID related.
It is no surprise that the £ to Euro rate went down between my order was placed and when it ought to have been dispatched).
I shall be issuing County Court proceedings to recover the 'cancellation fees'
Allowed date to be selected which they couldn't meet. I placed order before 12pm and made payment, to be told it hadn't 'gone through' before 12pm, they didn't have the currency and that they were subsequently going to charge me £25 to cancel it even though it was down to THEIR issues! I'm now stuck with £900 less in my bank account and no money to purchase currency elsewhere! Thanks, Travel FX!
This company had the best exchange rate that I could find. I ordered money and paid via BACS by 8.30am on Thursday for apparently, next day delivery by 1pm. On Friday, no sign of my money. At 2pm I phoned only to be told that my money was dispatched. It's now Saturday and still no sign. Awful awful service and not what you need just before going on holiday.
Ordered currency at 09.28 am for delivery the following day before 1 pm.
Bank confirmed the money was transfered by Fast Transfer.
Contacted Travel FX on a couple of occassions before 11.00 am to question if money had been received by their bank.
Told they only check for bank tranfers after 12.00.
Since their documentation says following day delivery only available when money received by thier bank before 12.00 then it woul appear imp[ossible to get next day delivery under any circumstance.
These people are frauds.
24 hour delivery is impossible.
My currency was delivered after I had left for my trip some 52 hours after order.
This will have cost me £75.00 minimum for the priviledge of dealing with Mafia FX.
DO NOT USE THEM.
Have used Travelfx for last five or so years, I usually give a date a day or so before I need it, so it's not held up, best to allow a three day turn around, so order day one, dispatch day two receive day three, that way you shouldn't be disappointed if you leave it till the last minute to order.
Five star service, Great Ex Rates, easy to use website, good communication re order & delivery which was super-fast. Good denomination of notes, would certainly recommend and use again! Well Done FX
I ordered £800 of Euros last Sunday as we are off on holiday mid-morning on Wednesday. Although the payment went through ok on the Sunday, I did not receive an email regarding despatch by midday on Monday (which I was expecting). Rang them on Monday to be told that next day delivery (i. E. Tuesday) was not guaranteed, despite all the reviews saying the opposite, however paying an extra £20 (thereby my not making a saving on the currency compared to going to a bank or another bureau de change) would guarantee delivery before 09:00 on the Wednesday. Paid the £20 by BACS and later on the Monday received an invoice regarding the full payment. Busy all day on the Tuesday so not able to chase; net result I receive an email at 16:30 saying that I could expect delivery by 13:00 on Wednesday (by which time we need to be at the airport). Guess what, they close at 16:30 every day so there's no-one there to deal with this issue and they don't open until 09:30 tomorrow, approximately an hour before we leave for the airport. Next time I will go the post office or my bank; I won't touch these amateurs with a barge pole and strongly advise anyone reading this does likewise.
Bought the currency as they offered good rates but it took almost a week to process and I had already left on holiday. Cancelled the order and received over £250 less than I had spent.
I have used Travel FX in the past with no issues and their rates have always been reasonable BUT everyone should be aware of their new scam. I ordered the equivalent of £300 of Indonesian, Malaysian, Thailand and Singapore money just so my friend and I can have a bit of cash on us when we travel to the far east on a cruise we were going on. Plus $2000 to spend on the ship. A few days prior to my order, I received an email from travel Fx encouraging me to pay them by bank transfer. Sounded like good idea as it would save the credit card fees. When I tried to do the transfer, my bank blocked it and flagged the transaction as potential fraud. I called the bank and they tried to warn me not to do the transaction. I was confused why not. I contacted travel fx who basically reassured me there was no issue. Because like everyone else, I have had good experiences before, I ignored my bank and authorised payment of almost £3000. To cut a long story short, on receiving payment, travel fx refused to send my currency unless I provided them documentation which included my date of birth, national insurance number, address, bank account details, evidence of where I worked, how much I earned, where the money came from, my flight details etc. Not only that, they asked me to send this via normal unsecured YAHOO email. They claimed this was to meet their MONEY LAUNDERING obligations and illegal activities from HMRC. I said I would send most of the necessary information via a secure platform not email but they insisted they needed all my details. On speaking to my bank and others I was advised not to give them more than the statement from where the money came and my flight and hotel details. This was still not enough so I had to cancel the transaction. However they charged me almost £200 to do the cancellation. Someone should please let me into the trick of how to do illegal activities in a country with £150 per person! I should have listened to my bank. If you must use them, use a credit or debit card. You have been warned.
Hi all,
Both thumbs down! I have used Travel FX previously but am disappointed at their service recently. Placed an order on Saturday and was under the impression that I would get the order by Tuesday the latest. Afterall, it's clearly stated on their website that "it's next day delivery". How untrue! I suggest they change it as this is most misleading! I'm aware there is an asterisk there which refers to a tiny print at the bottom of the page that's only if they have stock! This should be on top of the page NOT at the bottom!
When I called to check they said the money won't arrive until Wed! They say their couldn't accommodate my request despite I pleaded with them (I was travelling on Wed itself). They essentially said either I pay £25 to cancel the order or just have to proceed with the order despite they actually haven't ordered the currency when I rang first thing on Monday! So too bad for them they will loose a customer and I will discourage my family members / friends to use them.
PLEASE AVOID THIS WEBSITE AT ALL COST!
These people are crooks and very unprofessional! They have ruined my first holiday in 8 years by cancelling my order less than 24hours before I'm due to leave. To add to the insullt they tried to blame me for their mistakes claiming that because I was rude to staff their is nothing they can do for me. Newsflash I wasn't rude I went easy on them considering they made a huge $#*! up and left me upset and angry. They even had the cheek to tell they can't put the money back into my account and that I have to wait for cheque. Newflash a cheque isn't good enough! They have got £503.14 of my money! Do for godsake avoid this company for your mental health!
Avoid this company at any cost. They are not regulated by anybody whatsoever. They are NOT FCA registered which is a requirement. Information provided on the website (e.g. HMRC registration etc) is fake too. They are filing dormant accounts with companies house. The parent company is mortgagefx which is very poor company with negative assets.
Once you paid money in to their account they will endlessly keep asking for documents and rejecting them under disguise of Money laundering regulations. There will always be something more they need and usually something which you may not have to hand at the time. If the market moves in their favor you MAY get your money at the old rate. If market moves against them they will fail your authentication and keep a large part of what you paid as cancellation fee. Either way they win. Even to receive the remaining part of your money will be an uphill struggle. In most cases where large amounts are involved you are likely to get nothing back. You may decide to take legal action but in the long process they would have changed the company name and you will end up with nothing. imsfx.co.uk are also part of the same scam.
STEAR CLEAR OF THIS! ITS FALSE ADVERTISING ON ITS BEST
If this was an honest company they would change their sales pitch to we will deliver at some point and "we will try our best to be next day" or we will sell you the burger but keep the patty.
We started our dealings with these people 4 days before our honeymoon, even in a third world country like Brazil where my fiancé is from that is plenty of time to get things sorted.
First transfer of £9k bounced back not their fault, we lost a day, and because they come out as capable of delivering your order the next day, we trusted the image of the company and placed the order again. After advising them of the delay we paid the money a second time at 1400 we heard nothing from travel fx, no emails on junk or inbox.
They close at 1630 so we assumed someone was dealing with our order and an email would follow. It did but it was at 8am the next day asking for extra security checks. The money had not been dispatched.
Called the customer service to only receive the most appaulling treatment we have ever experienced, asked to speak to the manager Darrel and it was even worst, they must be on some kind of power trip that they operate from the office of the Wolf of Wall Street
BOTTOM LINE
The only conclusion that we come to is that the 5 star reviews are fake and the only real ones are the ones to mention the delivery issues. Its almost like they try hard to not fulfil their promise.
Beware!
Horrible customer service, didn't receive the dollar's I bought, or got my money back! Next day delivery? Maybe next week! Avoid!
Avoid this Company like the Plague, Bought some Dollars ( $1,500 worth) online and the payment went through, then I got an email saying that my payment hadn't gone through and to re - pay it, but when i went to my bank account, it showed that the money had gone through, it had left my account and was paid into there account, so I contacted them to say that my money had gone out of my bank account into there bank account and too see what was the problem, got a stroppy remark and was told ' NO THE MONEY HAS NOT BEEN PAID ' so once again I checked with my bank and was told that the funds had definitely gone into there bank account, so once again I contacted them, to be told that its not there problem and to speak to my own bank staff, these are the facts 1/ I bought some dollars online, 2/ the money went out of my bank account and into there bank account. 3/ my bank told me that Travel Fx Ltd definitely had my funds, but once again was told by the Travel Fx staff that they didnt have my money and it wasnt there problem, So I now think this Company is a Fraudulent Company, You have to be extremely careful buying from this Firm, I can only suggest you don't bother, because the stress this has caused me today is something I wouldn't like anyone else to suffer. I still have no dollars and I still have a huge chunk taken out of my bank by these people. Avoid Travel Fx Ltd.
I ordered euros from TravelFX who I have used for a few years now. The money did not arrive and so I contacted Royal Mail who had no idea what had happened to it. After two days and two trips to the sorting office they confessed to having LOST it.
That was not TravelFX's fault clearly but I was disappointed when they told me I had to wait until they had ordered a refund from Royal Mail. I was leaving for my holiday and so had to buy more euros from a high street bureau (at a less favourable rate). On my return two weeks later Travel FX told me they were going to make a refund. This was of my sterling and not a redelivery of the euros I had bought. I was happy to have the original order repeated as I could use the euros later but as the rate had slipped they refused to honour the purchase. I explained that if I bought a kettle online that did not arrive I would expect it to be redelivered and not refused on the grounds that their prices had risen in the meantime. It is no nearly two months since the original order and I still have not had a refund. I will not be using TravelFX again as their attitude has been appalling - they don't understand the meaning of customer service and are quite happy to lose a customer who has been using them for years.
I found a high street bureau who were offering a better rate than TravelFX - give them a try as you can pick your money up and not have to worry about it not arriving - eurochange (they have branches over 100 branches).
Got receipt of money on Wednesday last week delivery promised today still NO CASH Cant get hold of TRAVEL FX staff via telephone or email. Going on holiday tomorrow with no cash.
Ordered our currency. Currency arrived promptly. Got the best rate on the market. Can't fault this company.
Answer: Fully agree this company is so unprofessional! They had me in tears
Answer: Hello, apologies for the delay in responding to this question. We have only just created a business account with sitejabber. We currently only offer Bank Transfer as there are additional payments with card and we are trying to keep our exchange rates low. We are however currently looking at integrating card payments into our business plan so we will keep everyone updated on that through our website and social media channels. We do not have a physical store which you can visit as we are an online only service. We use Royal Mail Special Delivery which is fully insured and a very reliable service. We hope you decide to order with us in the future. Regards, Travel FX

Answer: Be careful with bank transfers. They will receive your money and it will be confirmed in time BUT they may withhold giving you your currency unless you provide them with all your sensitive personal information e.g DoB, 3 months bank statements, work details etc. via unsecured email. Your decision ultimately if you want to provide because if you cancel they will charge a huge cancellation fee of something like 10%. Always best to use credit card with them.
