I haven't used my account for months and I got a notification that I was violating terms of service with "high activity". Depending on the two different emails received. I asked because I'm concerned for my private information and due to "privacy and safety" they won't answer any of my questions. Not only do I have no way of knowing what they are doing with my information, I have no way of contacting them. BEWARE
I finished a project fair and square and they sent me an email saying that I have violated their Terms of usage and my account has been suspended forever for fake feedback. No asking for an explanation, no chance to explain, nothing.
I did not get my payment and got suspended... Very disappointed...
Here or elsewhere isn't easy at the beginning, any successful freelancer will tell you that; but at least in here you can't throw an excuse about few job posts: at this time, Is the Internet's crowdest point of intersection between freelancers and work to be done.
Im growing my business and feel leveraged by Upwork. They guide me and care for their freelancers. Specially when it comes to disputes and money.
They are very serious about identity and much much more serious than other freelancers apps.
Its great to find the kind of places to work like upwork.
Thanks!
I started using upwork last week, so far I am not impressed. I have been trying to get my payment but it has taken me a week with no success. I do not know if this is the same for everyone but, if that is the case, I do not see the reason for its existence. Either improve on the treatment towards freelancers or get off the web. Patricia
This company is a scam and a waste of time. They give you all these jobs you can apply for but wont let you. I am constantly told i have to update my profile (which i daresay costs money, i wouldnt know the option to do anything with your profile is not there! Also its damn near impossible to contact them directly which also waves red flags. I would stick with online surveys etc. At least they pay out even though its rubbish pay.
Upwork is an excellent platform that helps freelancers to connect with clients. I have been working on Upwork for more than 3 years, and I appreciate Upwork for providing me a great opportunity to keep my freelancing career up and running.
I`m yet not sure this platform is better than the older ones were, but the policies are definitely more strict than there were on the former sites. I`m still working for them at times and will update the review if necessary.
Absolute privilege to be part of Upwork for last 5 years. Earned thousands of dollars and helped number of businesses around of globe providing accounting and taxation services. Thank you for adding value in my business by providing an excellent platform.
Title is self-explanatory, Upwork just wasted hours of my time for no reason and disrupted my business by freezing my account a full week before my card expired.
They froze the account literally the day after successfully billing me, even despite the card still being active.
It has now been 36 hours since I updated my card details and the account remains frozen. Support takes over 15 hours per response. Totally unacceptable.
UPDATE: Over 48 hours later, Upwork finally replied and unfroze the account. No apology or explanation offered. My business operations were disrupted for two full business days and Upwork support is completely unapologetic.
Massive waste of time, very frustrated & unhappy with Upwork's service.
Answer: They are horrible. Every freelancer I've gotten from Upwork has cost me more to fix the small job they have done. There's absolutely no customer service! I would stay away
Answer: This is not the place to inquire.
Answer: No, just 20% of your job when we talk about fixed price, and same for hourly but after some week it's been 10%
Answer: Go to Settings › Contact Info › Click the Close my account link. If you meet the requirements, click the button to confirm that you want to close your account.
Answer: I am a customer and have had a really horrible experience. Upwork claims a 100% guarantee before you pay anything. That is not true. The process is actually quite horrible. You put money in escrow. You only get your money back after a bad contract if the freelancer agrees to release the money. If the freelancer refuses, you get a bargain offer to still pay them something but still you are paying for a bad job you can't use. Then, if you refuse to bargain over a bad job, you are told that it will cost you an additional $389 to arbitrate with a 3rd party affiliate that the customer (me), the freelancer (scammer) and Upwork (ripoff enabler) has to pay. I took it all the way to arbitration with the end result being that Upwork decided that I was just too uninformed to know their policy and that they would give me a one time only refund of my original amount. What they didn't tell me what that they just gave me a "credit" of my original amount and that was the end. So I am still out the original amount and can't get my money back. This sight is a ripoff. Plain and simple.
Answer: Because of their policy changes which are geared towards the client rather than the freelancer. They have dug their own grave with their policy changes of late.
Answer: Go to Get Paid on PC or Mobile, you will see 3 dots in front of your payment method, tap to select edit/remove to change them. Go to Billing Method on PC under Billing Section and tap three dots to change (edit/remove). Thanks
Answer: Be part and see, dont look at the sold mine reviews people, upwork can bush you to reach.
Answer: I agree with Sam. This place is a scam. They have bad reviews everywhere. Katrina is probably working for them!
