Problem playing movies and they have no clue
February 15, 2019

I have about 833 movies on their site. I was trying to watch Xanadu (don't judge my guilty pleasure) :) It would not play. It would sit there like it was loading even though I let it sit for 5 minutes. Other movies played fine. I will have to assume all 832 movies played fine and it was just the one. Anyway, I tried it with Edge, IE, and Chrome. I then tried it on a laptop and did IE, Chrome, Firefox, still the same problem. I contacted them and told them what was happening and the next day they respond back asking for info I already gave them. They wanted to know what version of the app I was using and what movie it was even though I told them it was through a browser and Xanadu. This time they wanted more information while still ignoring that I had already gave them half that info in my original ticket. I replied back with all the info they wanted and letting them know that they had half the info already. They reply back the next day and once again want to know what version app I am using and they want me to uninstall and reinstall the app. They also asked for the same exact information they did in the previous ticket. So I have had 2 replies from VUDU tech support and I am no further along then when I first submitted my ticket. How stupid do they have to be to keep asking for the same information each time they reply and keep replying as if I am using an app. I stopped using the app 2 years ago when I had another problem with their app and they said to use the browser and they would contact me when they found a fix to their known problem. Two years later I asked about my ticket which was still open and was told that they stopped using that program so they did not find a fix. How nice of them to let me know even though I had replied to my message every 6 months or so but they would not even respond to it. I had to open a new ticket to get an answer from them. The only reason I still use them is that when they were in beta testing I had converted a whole bunch of my Bluray movies to digital. I was stuck unless I wanted to repurchase them on a different site. Little did I know that most of the sites I would have used have all merged their libraries and I could have used a different company but too late now. That and it is relatively easy to convert physical Blu-rays into having a digital copy. Digital copies are so much easier to take my library anywhere I go. Right now my physical copies are taking up 3 bookshelves:)

Their customer service and usability were far superior when they were beta. I am guessing once they suckered enough people in they realized people were stuck and they couldn't go anywhere else. Of course, iTunes isn't any better but who knows they may have changed in the last 3 years. Hahaha.

Vudu sells 4K UHD movies that you cant play anywhere with their app
January 23, 2018

Vudu sells 4K UHD movies that you cant play anywhere with their app. I recently purchased Geostorm from Vudu online in 4K UHD format. I get ready to watch the feature on my Samsung 4K 65 TV. I bring up the Vudu app, and low and behold, the max resolution setting in the app stops at 1080p.no 4K setting. I go the web and Google the issue thinking maybe I am doing something wrong. What do I find, lots of posts stating that Vudu claims Samsung is blocking their 4K streams. Samsung claims the issue lies with the Vudu app. Well, guess what? It is an issue with the Vudu app. Here is how I know. I first tried the app on my 65 inch Samsung as mentioned previously, and the max resolution setting in the app was 1080p. I then went to my Samsung 40 inch 4K UHD (late 2016 model) with HDR and load up the Samsung appsame issuemax resolution setting is 1080p. I then load up my Apple TV 4K which just hit the market. I bring up the Vudu app, and guess what, max resolution setting is 1080p. So finally, I go to my new Sony XBR 4K UHD blu-ray player, load the appand you guessed itthe max resolution setting is 1080p. So here the deal, if Vudu is going to sell 4K UHD movies at a premium price, they better get on the stick and fix their app so that it is capable of streaming 4K UHD pronto. I think it might be time for us to band together and start a class action suit against Vudu.

Vudu Customer Sevice and "Management" is Horrible
August 4, 2017

Let me start by saying I loved vudu at one time. I was able to put our movie codes into it for easy access to stuff on the go and I was able to buy and rent movies easily. Now, this was a total of 62 movies total on my vudu account when all was good and then turned horrible.
One day I just couldn't login. I called. Because it turned out my account was taken over by someone else. I was told I'd hear back in 5 days after review. I had them delete my billing information in the meantime. I had to keep calling back because I never heard from them. Two weeks in and still no resolution. I was able to verify all the billing information and card number used on the account and still no help. Three weeks and four weeks and still nothing. And they say it has to be submitted up to the top tier because they are the only ones who can make decisions based on payments. And still nothing. And they tell you that you cannot speak with the top tier people and the top tier people will only email you when they are ready. Still. Nothing. And now I have lost the ability to access my 62 movies that I paid for and can prove but it doesn't matter. And they can't change anything because the person who called and changed the account to their name has all the billing information too. A complete and utter mess and they said I could despute the charges with my bank to then have the account locked and never accessed. They actually told me that would be what would happen. So I'd only recover the money for the movies I purchased through vudu and none of the digital copies out in. And even then they said they could not guarantee that since I did admit to buying the movies when I was speaking with them on the phone. Completely horrible customer and managerial services from vudu. How hard is it to see a person used their card to purchase movies and say okay this is who the movies belong to. It's not rocket science and shouldn't be that complicated. They do not take care of their customers and their customer's private account information and they get out of it by citing they have "policies" in place that create these so called rules.
Do not recommend you ever use them. It may be great for awhile but the moment an issue arises where you need to call them for help... you will be left feeling robbed and helpless. It's a horrible feeling and they don't care. That's the worst part. You know they could do the right thing but they choose not to.

VUDU/VOODOO: I Blame Myself. The Name Alone Should've Had Me Running
June 9, 2017

There isn't one issue on site I haven't experienced since signing up with VUDU/ VOODOO, and I'm pissed, because I expected this, and yet, I signed up for it, which makes me the model consumer in the eyes of WALMART/VOODOO and the other new age giants who have stripped consumers of their rights to expect good service, respect and some modicum of privacy when it comes to our information.

But nooo, I started to believe all the hype. It was everywhere, and there were people who loved what they thought would be a CONVENIENCE, but I knew better. There's never been a convenience offered without the eventual price tag attached to it, and when it comes to anything digital, the American consumer is still feigning ignorance to the reality that services like VOODOO/VUDU/VOODOO and WALMART have succeeded in having their cake and eating it, too.

Think about it: every last one of these selfish, elitist power hungry CROOKS - AMAZON, VUDU, GOOGLE, et al, have carved out and designated "space" making it their own, giving it a catchy name (The Cloud), and then sold us on the idea that it was possible to both "lease" and "sell" to us at the same time. Talk about two different actions occupying the same space. I can't speak to this impossibility from the position of a scientist, but as an English major, we have been led down a path of delusion that dystopian authors have written about since the first screening of the film, "Metropolis."

It's now official: These men of business, these corporate clowns, -these LIARS-intentionally create products that don't fulfill the promise. Period.

Each and every call made to a service center, every minute over 30 spent waiting for tech support, or the hours you have to make up at work, in order to stand in long lines waiting to talk to short-tempered techs, shows the utter disdain of people like "The Sam Walton Family," now considered an "american institution,' which may be a legitimate designation, when considering that the practices of "VOODOO-VUDU-VOODOO" are so much like the policies of its sister companies, Walmart and "Sams Club," both of which are now trying to model itself after Amazon and Hulu. Even as I write this, I'm almost certain Sam Walton probably calls Bezos once a week to see how he doing. They're competitors, not enemies. At least not in the sense that we've grown up to believe.
But I guess we're not to take it personally, because everyone's doing it, and these companies have sold us on the idea of wanting what we want, when we want it, and preferably getting it before we know that we want it. Such is the situation with Walmart's newest bastard child, "VOODOO/VUDU/VOODOO." What's really funny is that Walmart's "VOODOO-VUDU-VOODOO" isn't even TRYING to be as good as AMAZON Prime Time Video, which means that they'll settle for the profit that comes from the promises they make - to be the next best thing to Netflix, but, that's not likely to happen.
Still, we, the consumer continue to see, hear, touch and believe the claims of the "bright and shiny," and we buy it, only to get pissed off at the lie.
Who knew at the time that the space claimed by Google and Windows would one day represent the consumer, trying to get out from under the heavy mist that has settled on the brain and fogged the minds of people who are more than willing to be wooed by the not-so-sweet-smelling scent of companies and corporations that care not so much for money, but power.
Isn't it time for the consumer to ask themselves what they're willing to sacrifice in order to demand good business practices from predators like "The VOODOO-VUDU-VOODOO fly trap."

Meantime, I'm waiting for someone to discover how to put my movies on a disc -with or without Sam Walton's permission. Amazing. We now root for the hackers. They're the only ones keeping the rest of them on their toes.

Customer Service Can NOT Help You
March 24, 2017

I normally only use VUDU for redemptions but sometimes there are some great deals on movies I love.

Then they came out with Disc to Digital for PC and offered that if you converted more than 10 of your current movies, you'd get a discount of half off. So I started scanning my movies Thursday night, and when I woke up in the morning I finished another two movies. The discount specifically said it would apply at checkout and not to worry about the full price amount. So I went to check out where it displayed which movies I had selected, and then I went to order and SURPRISE! No discount was applied.

I immediately called them as soon as they opened, and after waiting on hold for 25 minutes (which is astounding because they had just opened), I reached a customer service agent who literally could do nothing for me. And I mean exactly what I just said, this was her actual response to me when I explained the issue. She said that the way their system was set up, there was no way for them to give a discount on a purchase or refund a purchase, REGARDLESS OF THE REASON, because there was no way for them to know that it wasn't already downloaded to the PC. She apologized and said that the half off sale ended midnight (just 7 hours before I made the call), and even though VUDU did not notify me that stuff in my cart was no longer half off, they were not responsible for the error with the discount. I thought this was a joke. I asked if she could just remove my entire disc to digital order and suspend access to those movies because I didn't want them for the full price. Her reply, again, was that there was NO WAY for movies to be refunded or discounted once they were purchased.

I asked if I could dispute the charge with my bank because she was sure she could not do anything for me at all. Her response was this, and this is what should scare any customer away:

If you file a dispute with your bank, and it becomes a chargeback, your VUDU account will be suspended.

I laughed at first and asked if she was serious because I had tons of movies in my collection that were already redeemed or paid for, and she said that she was serious and that my account would be suspended. I asked about what would happen to all the movies I've paid for or redeemed, and she replied "I don't think you'll lose access to them, or you shouldn't anyways". In other words, if I dispute the charge with my bank, I could stand to lose all of my movies.

Don't EVER purchase anything from VUDU unless you're absolutely sure that regardless of what issue arises, you're okay with losing the money you've invested in the movies you have with them.
