I ordered a silky straight wig from WowAfrican on June 17th, but what I received was not what was advertised. I rarely wear wigs and decided to wear mine for the first time on February 17th. After a week, I decided to wash it for the first time. After just one wash, the hair became wavy/curly, proving that they had simply styled it straight rather than selling actual silky straight hair. This is blatant false advertising and deception.

I reached out to customer service, providing pictures, and instead of admitting their mistake, they tried to gaslight me into believing that silky straight hair is naturally wavy or curly! First, they told me their "straight hair" isn't really straight, which makes no sense... silky straight means straight, period. Then, they had the audacity to claim they sell a different type of "permanently straight" hair, something that is nowhere to be found on their website. They literally made things up, assuming I was too stupid to notice their contradictions!

After weeks of back-and-forth emails exposing their lies, they still refused to take responsibility. Instead, they expected me to pay €33.50 to return the wrong wig they sent. Why should I pay for their mistake? Any legitimate company would cover all costs when they send an incorrect product.

WowAfrican is running a scam, knowingly misleading customers and using manipulation tactics to avoid refunds. If you're considering buying from them, DON'T. They will gaslight you, send the wrong product, and refuse to fix the issue unless you pay extra. Avoid WowAfrican at all costs!

I am writing to formally complain and warn other consumers about the subpar quality and deceptive practices of Wow African Wigs. My experience with Wow African has been nothing short of disappointing and frustrating, and I feel compelled to share my story to prevent others from falling victim to their unethical business practices.

After reading numerous negative reviews on platforms such as the Better Business Bureau and Trustpilot, I decided to reach out to Wow African before I even received the wig I had ordered. Despite not providing a specific reason at that time, I informed them that I would be returning the unit. However, upon receiving the wig, I was initially impressed by its beauty and considered keeping it.

Unfortunately, my initial positive impression quickly turned sour when I discovered significant issues with the wig. Despite the description stating that the knots were bleached, I found that only the parting area was bleached on the 13x4 unit. Furthermore, within just two weeks of wearing the wig, the hair went from soft and manageable to matted and shedding excessively, resembling wool rather than quality human hair.

As a result of these issues, I can no longer wear the wig as it looks unkempt and unmanageable. Throughout my interactions with Wow African, I experienced attempts at gaslighting and poor customer service, leading me to seek a refund through Afterpay, which unfortunately was denied.

I urge other consumers to be cautious and avoid purchasing from Wow African. The glowing reviews from influencers on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok are misleading and do not reflect the poor quality and deceptive practices of this company. Save yourself the money, time, and frustration by steering clear of Wow African.

I have attached some of the email correspondences between Wow African and myself to provide further context to my complaint. I hope that by sharing my experience, I can help prevent others from being misled and disappointed by this company.

I originally submitted a review to their site, but they haven't approved/posted it and it's been weeks. Beware that they pick and choose which reviews to show.

I ordered a reddish-brown body wave HD wig. The cap construction, lace, and sizing were good. I'd say about 70-80% of the knots were successfully bleached. However, the hair quality is not good enough to justify the price. It is dry, making it prone to frizz and tangling. It also sheds more than any other wig I've had, especially around the edges. Every time I wash it, chunks of hair fall out. I hoped this wig would last a long time, but I feel that its longevity will be short. Overall, I do not recommend this company.

I wish I could give this company 0 stars. They sent me TRASH HAIR. Used it once and the hair in the front came out in CLUMPS. 354 USD gone down the drain. That's what I get for believing the sponsored reviews. I tried to get a refund through paypal and they asked me to send back the wig (I have to pay for shipping) in the same condition as it was when I received it. OBVIOUSLY IT'S NOT IN THE SAME CONDITION AS THE HAIR SHEDS LIKE CRAZY AND CAME OUT IN CLUMPS WHEN BRUSHING THROUGH IT. I'm so sick of these wig companies scamming people. I refuse to buy another wig. I'll just rock braids and my own natural hair from now on. I'll never make that mistake again. PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NO SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS COMPANY'S "HUMAN HAIR." They are scammers and liars and they know full well that they're not selling 100% human hair as advertised. I'm going to tell my cousin who has over 300k followers on IG to post about this experience. People need to know that your company is an absolute scam. I'll do my best to make sure that everyone I know avoids your company like the plague.

Do not order from them. EXPENSIVE but poor quality. My wig is matted/sheds so bad! They don't care!

I've worn extensions using a silk based closure for over 10 years. Because of Covid, my regular hair suppliers were closed and not shipping so I was desperately seeking a new hair provider. After some research, I found WOW Africa and decided to give them a shot. I ordered a silk based closure with 2 bundles. I received an all lace closure, and 2 bundles that were not the type of hair I ordered. On top of that, the hair smelled so bad, I literally gagged when handling it. I contacted "customer support" and explained the problems and asked for instructions to return it. I was immediately notified that I'd be charged a bs restocking fee (which I believe is how they really make their money). The rep informed me that I had indeed received a silk based closure, even after I sent pictures that clearly show the closure was all lace. I was advised to wash it which I refused to do knowing that there was no way they'd accept the return if I washed it. SEVERAL back and forth messages later, I finally got the return information I requested. I followed the instructions and mailed it back. ALL OF IT! A few days later, I receive a message informing me that I wouldn't receive a refund because I didn't return the closure. At the time, they were not aware of the fact that I was within driving distance of the return address. I politely volunteered to drive to the address and handle the problem face to face. Soon after, I was informed that the missing item was found and that my refund was being processed. These people are shady and should not be trusted. The quality of hair was a joke. BEWARE!

I ordered a wig with bleached knots and received one with half orange and half unbleached knots. Customer service was rude and unhelpful and I ended up paying a fee to return it. They also do not post negative reviews on their site.

I received my wig very quickly as usual and the quality of the hair was decent but as soon as I tried to fit the wig on my hairline, the lace on the left side ripped down the side! I immediately contacted customer service and while they were kind at first, it soon because clear that I wasn't going to get any kind of replacement or refund. I even sent pictures and a video as requested. I was told to try and cut the lace to make the sides more even. But when I did that, it took off more lace than I wanted and the wig was even more useless! I went back and forth emailing with them and was only told to try and fix the problem myself. I was told to "send a picture after you repair it" so they could potentially "ask the production company for a solution". The problem is the production! I would be happy with a replacement wig but I couldn't even get that. I basically paid for a wig I can't use and customer service was a joke. I've had good experiences with this company in the past but this experience has soured me on them for good.

I prefer silky straight hair and I purchased there reasonably priced Indian hair and it tangles and sheds terribly. I bought there premium Brazilian silky straight hair and while it's much better quality, for the high price, the amount of hair on the weft is despicable (what I mean is if you normally need 4 packs for a full sew in, you'll need at least 6 packs of their premium hair... it gets expensive). I used to purchase from them all the time in 2016/2017 but there prices have skyrocketed while there products are worse than before.

I have bought two wigs from this company, a year apart. The first one I still wear daily, but I have been wearing it in less than optimal conditions in India for 9 of those months., and have been unable to properly care for it. It has been tangling a lot, especially in the past couple of months, but I believe that may be my fault. It needs a deep conditioning. Having said that, their hair is so soft and silky. I liked it so well that I bought another one this year, which I have not yet worn. But the hair is soft and smells amazing.

I have ordered 3 wigs from WowAfrican. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively. The quality of the hair in all 3 wigs was superb. The first 2 wigs were ordered from the overseas store and fit perfectly.
The third wig in 2019 was ordered from the U.S. store in California. The cap on the US wig was too small, although I kept it anyway. I did not order a specific size from the overseas store.
Are the wigs in the US store a different quality/

I'm so disappointed in this place! I waited a long time for customer service and it seemed like only 3 people work in this office. After I waited a long time, it seemed like the lady didn't want to help me! I believe her name is Bee and another girl with short hair! When I got into the office room, they had dirty and dusty wigs on display. The two told me that It's by appointment only and that I could only try on three wigs. They made me feel uncomfortable and limited! After I tried on two wigs that I picked I told them that I wanted a natural look and my natural hair texture is wavy. They gave me an Afro and told me it looks more natural but it's not good hair. How insulting! I'm never going back!

Ordered and paid for the 150% Density 360 Lace Wig Natural Wave Brazilian Virgin Hair TLW23 total price was $346.00. After waiting for about a month without receiving my purchase, I wrote to the service desk inquiring about the purchase. I did receive responses from supposedly representative but with the responses I became more furious because their replies did not make a lot of sense. They told me that they needed to call me to verify the purchase since it was a big order. This was my first red flag! Then I sent them another email and I received an reply stating that she is on vacation on a beach until a certain date and then she would reply. This was a red flag! Needless to say the replies that were sent back to me were totally unprofessional with misspelled word and very bad grammar. Needless to say, I never received my order

I purchased a wig from Wowafrican about 5 years ago. That wig held up for about 3 years. I washed styled and colored it repeatedly. There was some shedding but nothing drastic. NOW... a month ago I purchased a silk based closure and 2 bundles from them. BIG MISTAKE! The hair shed soo badly! There is hair everywhere in my house and I only had the sew in for 2 1/2 weeks. The closure basically went bald. There were huge embarrassing patches of baldness in it due to all of the shedding. They used to have quality products but not anymore. For a page with 100k followers they're a little light on the comments under their pictures and some pictures even have the comments turned off. That's a huge red flag.

I want to return the wig because the front hair of the wig is too fine. They say i dye it and i didn't after sending the pictures requested by them. And i ask for the return address they give me a China address which cost a lot to send the wig back to them. And i know in my head i purchase from USA not China.
When i'm going to return it, while i'm in the post office, i'll make a video of the wig because i don't trust them be careful with this compagny
