I am the owner and operator of a small 11 room hotel. We've been in business since 2006. We were continually tele marketed by YELP for many years. My answer to them was always "please stop calling, YELP does not reach our demographic". A few months back I got the usual call, but this time I was called by someone who managed to get my attention. His name was Brandon Weedon. Brandon was an amicable guy and managed to convince me that YELP would reach my demographic. My hat is off to Brandon for his salesmanship. For the record I never advertise without some definitive method of tracking the business generated by the ad. I set things up accordingly. The end result; after one month and $1,000 (one thousand) dollars in fees NOT ONE reservation was garnered via that YELP ad campaign. I'm not sure what demographic YELP reaches, but sure doesn't reach mine. I've been saying YELP is dead for years. YELP may not be dead to some people, but YELP is surely dead to me!

It's a crap shoot on both the guest and hosting side. I have done both. If you're looking for a place to stay just call a real hotel or an established B&B. If you're thinking of renting out rooms then open a hotel or establish yourself as a real B&B and get your personal items out of the guest areas. AirBnB is amature hour for the hospitality industry.
