On January 15, we were in the middle of preparing for a combined Baby Shower/Birthday Celebration we were hosting for 40 people at our residence the next day at 1pm. That morning (1/15) I noticed the toilet in the upstairs guest bathroom was leaking from the bottom. Thought it would be a simple fix and since we used Mike Diamond in the past -- gave them a call. Turns out the initial toilet install was not exactly even with the floor, and the plumber just used two wax sealers to "correct" the problem.
The techs explained the problem and I was able to see clearly what they were saying. They explained they would have to make the correction by cutting a hole in the garage ceiling and reinstall piping, and it could take until 8pm to finish the job (the time he said this was about 11:00am) The problem is that their estimated cost was $4,304. For 40 guests (including kids) we felt we needed at least 2 functioning toilets. Turns out they finished by 4:30pm and much of that time was spent getting parts at the local Home Depot. Since it took much less time to fix than originally stated and the labor was not complicated, we asked for a reduction in the price, which was politely but adamantly refused. I believe we were taken advantage of, and I despite the big gathering happening the next day, I should have just declined the job and gotten another estimate. I take accountability for my poor decision. However, I believe Mike Diamond knows how to game the system, and that this price was intentionally inflated.
Will not be using them again or recommending them to others.
My washing machine drain pipe was overflowing so I called Mike Diamond Plumbing. They sent Rigo out the following morning. Rigo was clean, polite and efficient. He determined right away the cause of the overflow and made a few suggestions to prevent future problems. He gave me quotes for the suggested work, and for future work I might consider. He took care of all the problems, and put everything back in place. I asked him to write his suggestions legibly as sometimes in the past I have been unable to read the plumbers writing, and he did so. He left his card in case I had any problems. We were very satisfied.
I had a kitchen sink that was clogged. I saw that Mike Diamond had a $99 unclog price. They were great when I called and sent someone over right away. I'm no plumber but I knew they could snake the drain and unclog the pipe. When he looked at it he told me it would be $500 because he would have to make a clean out pipe to get the drain unclogged. I asked him what the bell looking thing was on the wall under my sink and he said "I don't know" later I found out it was the clean out that he could have stuck his snake down and unclog the drain for $99. I feel like they are taught to up sale and get as much money out of every call. There is always 2 sides to a story but a clogged drain that I though could be snaked for $99 turned to a $650 fix...
Ulysses from Mike Diamond Plumbing went above and beyond to provide excellent service when he installed 2 new toilets for me! He was on time, friendly, quick (but thorough), and explained everything to me very well.
The service was a bit expensive, but worth it overall.
