I stumbled across Total Trivia a few weeks ago and, like most others, was hesitant as to whether it was all it promoted itself to be. Would it turn out to be just another clickbait? Would I realistically be able to win anything? Well, (1) it is, and (2) I did. I love this app. I've won some amazing prizes, all handmade and all beautiful. Like others, I've gawked at some of the prices, but I did check Amazon and other sites to do some comparison pricing. I found that the valuation of the prizes is in line with the purchase prices listed on Amazon, as well as reviews from customers who bought the items.
Regarding my other concern, as to whether or not I could or would actually win a prize, I am happy to say that I have won several that cost me significantly less than the listed value of the items. How do you win? There are twenty trivia categories from which you can choose to play. You need coupons to play, which are initially provided free from the game, and you need to be in first place at the end of the tournament you've entered. The cost of tickets goes up progressively per round (five questions to a round), as your score and ranking increase within that tournament round. During the earlier rounds, rather than use a coupon to play, you can opt to watch a short 15-30 second video. Once your score passes a certain point however, you will have to use your coupons to continue to play. When you run out of coupons, you will have to pay to purchase more. It is then that you have to decide how badly you want the item that you're playing for. Depending on the time of day or night that you're playing and the number of people also playing (no, you can't see how many other players there are in your tournament), items can be won at a lower cost than at others. Beyond using coupons to play the game itself, you can also use those coupons for in-game purchases. There is a "Fast Track" button, which will put you just outside of first place. There is also a "Booster" button, which will triple your score for the next five correct answers. If you really want to win something, combining the two buttons can easily give you a 2000-3000 point lead. If time is running down and the other people playing aren't as committed to winning as you, it can make a big difference to your chances of winning. There are two final things that you should know: (1) For every Fast Track or Booster purchase that you make, you will receive a discount credit toward purchase of the item you're trying to win. In other words, if you lose the tournament, you still have the option of buying the item, but you can now buy it at a reduced price. (2) If you win the item, you'll get a splash screen on which you need to click the Continue button to check out and confirm that you want the item. You'll then verify that Total Trivia has the correct shipping information on file for you. There is no tax, and there are no shipping charges. All of the items that I have won have shipped to me within 1-2 weeks of winning.
Thanks for this detailed review Brenda, I'm sure it will be helpful for other shoppers who have the same questions you had when you joined.
