on 7/28/15AirBnB is the worst. You might be able to go to the resolution centre, but previous posts are correct. Watch your money with them. Once they make an error it's hard to get it back. You may have to go through the credit card you charged it to and even then the dispute process might take awhile. Hopefully, you have other money to use in the mean time or the date of your trip is at least weeks out? They are asking you to "verify your ID" so they can gain access to your linked in, Facebook and google contacts. They say it's a security measure to protect you and everyone else but it's not. They are pirating your info. They take your contacts and use it as a marketing tool for themselves or sell the contacts to other distributors. It's very common with sites like this now. If you want to continue using AirBnB you have no choice unfortunately.
Hi Jillian, I find you have to watch your transactions with Airbnb very very carefully. Do not hesitate to call them, however try not to be disappointed when everyone passes the buck, and no one takes responsibility. I have recently cancelled my contract with them,
I had to dispute an airbnb charge with my credit card company, who refunded the charge to me and are trying to get $ back from PayPal or Bnb. Problem is they charge you right away, even although we cancelled booking with the host, they charged anyway, then refused to refund money. Perhaps contact your cc provider, it worked for me!
I just filed a complaint with the BB, they are the worst, they will take your money easily, but good luck getting a refund, even if they are wrong!
The three previous answers sum it up unfortunately. Erroneous charging is just another way for them to scam their way into profitability. Another friend of ours had her credit card information stolen and $8,000 worth of international travel booked. She's currently talking to her bank since AirBnB will NEVER issue a refund of any kind. Their customer service representatives are a joke as well. And it took my several calls and an hour's worth of listening to menus to finally find the right selection to talk to one of the world's most worthless "humans" ever...
I'm so sorry - there are good people on AirBnB, but the company itself is a joke with no cares who is a renter or rentee. AirBnB is all about those Benjamins...
It will take you forever to try to get your money back. They are quick at taking it but slow to give back. Then they claim admin fee. Just never ever ever use airbnb
Jillian, AIRBNB has recently made some changes due to $58,000 in damage done to a hosts' home in California by a guest. At the end of the news release, Mr. Brian Chesky (one of the three owners) states, ' if you can't get anyone from customer service to help you, contact me'. This site does not permit me posting Mr. Cheskys' email address but it is easy to find. PS, I emailed him in June... still waiting for a response. Good luck.
Had the same problem and never saw my money again. Best suggestion would be - Don't use Airbnb.
I have never been a guest with airbnb, however, I was a host for 6 yrs. As their business grew, their hosts and guests became disposable. Their $1,, 000,000 host guarantee policy is a joke. They stopped processing my claims, and when I had an incident that cost me $2500 out of pocket, they were only willing to re-imburse me $500! This was abruptly followed by all my accts. Being suddenly deleted and all the claims never paid. My attorney said due to their arbitration clause when you sign up with them, you must arbitrate rather than sue them so my advice is take them to arbitration for your money.
Stuff like this is why I won't use AirBNB again. I'll stick with VRBO.
