I need help with rides to the many, many doctors I now see, to the blood tests that seem endless and a ride now and then to get groceries. I am not totally disabled, just do not have a car. In the past I have used my bicycle to do most of these things, Even a ride of 10+ miles worked for me. But that was before my heart attack in Sept. 2012. That increased the # of doctors and must have injured my legs because they hurt a lot even for short rides. I find the "fee" I would have to pay just to contact a volunteer "scary" at best. I do not have much money so I must be so careful when I spend it. So my question is, "how valid is this organization? If anyone has experience or knowledge of it, please let me know at RODBERT@tampabay.rr.com. Thank you in advance for any insites you may have.
Sincerely, Roger (67 years old and trying my best to get by)

Our volunteers are true volunteers and do not ask for money. Yes, they do help elders for free. We ask for a $50 monthly commitment on a tax deductible donations to support our service. Volunteers help for free. They are true volunteers. Our job is to provide convenience and security in connecting them with elders. Our staff is not volunteer since any business requires daily operations management. Because we are not recipients of any private or public grants, everyone chip in a small amount, that is tax-deductible. Would you prefer to find an organization receiving government assistance, there are a lot of them out there. We do not force anyone to join our community. Our volunteers are true volunteers and do not ask for money. Elder help is free.

Every volunteer I have contacted has told me they have heard nothing from you since volunteering. They sometimes have forgotten they volunteered, it has been so long.
