I'm currently making money on this site as a graphic designer, every time I encountered a few problems (which is normal for this kind of site), supports are easy to reach and they always have a quick response. I really recommended this site.
I spent hours upon hours writing articles for an employer on freelancer.com They paid my fees to freelancer.com but then freelancer.com without warning banned them from the site and are withholding any money that should have been paid to me. I tracked down the employer as they told me to do, he hasn't been refunded any money like they told me he had been. They basically told me it's up to me to chase him despite the fact that all invoices were done through freelancer.com I intend on putting in a complaint with consumer affairs.

Tip for consumers:
Don't do it. Go elsewhere, try upwork or fiverr.

Did a job for Freelancer. Tried to get payment for 4 months & they just keep delaying. If indicative of other parts of company do not deal with them.
UPDATE: Gonzalo from Freelancer contacted me after I placed the above review. He was very helpful and was able to assist me in getting payment. Funds have now been paid to me.

This is just an awful company. I don't know where to start...
I have been ripped off, had work not completed, had useless customer service, been charged for things unnecessarily, just everything you expect from a poorly run company.
I am in the process of closing my account and they have said it will take four weeks to refund me my remaining balance and close the account. That says it all. I could walk to Australia in that time.

My first time using it was not a good experience. Freelancers bid without reading the Criteria. My freelancer failed to complete any tasks. Did not listen to me when I ponited out he was not following my instructions. He assure he was an expert in the area before I awarded it. My mistake was releasing half the project value at the beginning. I did end up getting back the remaining balance which was something after a battle by going to a dispute. I would not recommend unless you are totally confident freelancer can do job and make milestone smaller

Recently... my previous client asked me to refund his money even its already finished over a month ago.

Unfortunately, the two freelancers I awarded my project to were only interested in driving the price up without any real work being done. One even changed the name of the person who the project had been awarded to. Not sure if ths website is as trustworthy as it makes out to be.

We live in the time of internet and globalization. Nowadays for a lot of tasks it simply does not matter at all where you are located. So when I needed a webpage for a new company I was founding I thought why should I pay appr. 2,000 in Germany if i can get in from a remote freelancer for appr. 300. I looked up the internet found freelancer.com and just tried it. It was simple as pie. I found a great freelancer Mahima from India and she did great work in now time for a very cost-effective price. So my conclusion is that everyone who is not using Freelance.com - well I do not want to offend anyone but you understand what I want to say. Let´s use the possibilities of the 21st century. My freelancer was good, the platform is good and the support team with the chatter function fast and always able to help. Great stuff all of this.
