This business takes surplus, ‘ugly' and short stamped (expiration date is stamped too early on certain foods) foods of all types, discounts and ships straight to your doorstep. It's extremely customizable- size of box, how often you get it, easy cancels, special diets, and there's also a low income application for an even bigger discount. Seriously- check it out
We were shocked by the service! They asked for tea, brought a bag of tea with liquor and cereal, we hoped that there would be brewed tea and served in a teapot. Beer and pots, bottled HI, pots in a package, we hoped that it would be brought on a plate already unpacked and raped. Good that the beach was opened. There is nothing to the tea, no cake or pastry. Result: We decided not to come back to the cafe. Also no Wi-Fi.
I have been ordering from Imperfect Foods for over a year now. I rarely eat meat but decided to make a rib roast for myself and a guest. After cooking the roast I ate one rib and then noticed it was full of Maggots. I sent an email with photos and called to report what had happened. I explained how repulsive an experience it was and was assured a manager would get back to me. Instead of being contacted by anyone the price of the roast and a $15 credit was applied to my account. NO ONE ever returned my phone call to apologize. What kind of business are they running. MAGGOTS and HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
My produce arrived bashed to bits by cans of beans. I mean BASHED TO BITS. There was no effort whatsoever to put the cans on the bottom of the box and carefully package and add the produce. It was so cut/bruised/smashed that I had to throw most of it out. This is not SAVING money or food. I just don't understand. Apparently they are proud of their time- and packaging-saving "just throw it all in" methods, as I've seen them make comments about how these methods "save packaging." Well, that's convenient, isn't it. We don't package or bag or pad any of the stuff we ship because it saves money and time--but we'll hide behind the guise of "saving packaging materials." Ugh. This was my first order and I was stunned. I opened the box and thought OhMyGawd... what have you people done?!? I sent a message to customer service, and I received NO REPLY. Just wow. I will walk two miles (I don't have a car), wearing my mask, to my nearest Target to pick through their produce section in this COVID-19 apocalyptic era and take what's left and it will be a better value than this subscription service.
I appreciate the vast range of groceries available, and several of the Imperfect branded things are among my favorites.
When I first tried out this site, I was very pleased. I live in a town, that, although it is in the fruit and vegetable mecca, has very poor quality produce. I couldn't get fresh, regular, or varied produce with any reliability.
Imperfect foods was easy to set up, use, and although slightly more pricey, it was still cheaper in cost and better in quality than our local option. It was really nice to get really fresh vegetables and fruit with the use of an app or on the computer.
There were some glitches at the beginning, some items I ordered weren't in the box so I had to regularly check the delivered contents with the online receipt. At times, they would try and substitute in other items for the missing ones, but it wasn't always an equal exchange. Once, after I ordered over $15 of vegetables, and I got a mini pack of 8 chicken and apple breakfast sausages instead! However, the company was very good about refunding the cost of the missing items as soon as they were notified.
After some other small issues that they resolved quickly with refunds and credits, I experienced a stretch of regular, fresh, and reliable produce deliveries every Thursday. It was a TREAT! Fresh mandarins, celery, carrots, garlic, and seasonal treats like purple brussell sprouts, asparagus, and some incredible aged white cheddar.
About 8 weeks later, they changed the order days and the deliveries became more unpredictable and unreliable. And then the pandemic hit. The orders are canceled regularly after 4-5 days of "We're sorry your order is running late..." messages. So I may just "skip" my boxes for a month or two and re-assess.
