“Great sample site, if you have patience.”

Olivia R.

I see so many reviews here, and elsewhere, about how this site doesn't give them enough samples, or doesn't give them to them often enough. Jeez people, they're FREE samples, be grateful you get any and don't sound spoiled! I've been with this site for about 2 years and have received 3 sample boxes. They had a fun mix of products, and typically are geared toward me based on survey answers (one was a school related one, and I am a college junior, so that was fun!). Just check regularly for any new Virtual VoxBox (no physical sample, but often coupons and fun activities), and keep up with the survey questions. Be patient, and you'll get one eventually, and when you do I guarantee it'll be great! Usually 5-8 products, some VERY expensive normally like a Covergirl foundation I once received, and a good amount of time to sample and review before the event expires.

“Scam artists.”

Influenster is a pack of liars. They tell you you're getting this great product, only to have it not show up. They're scumbags, their customer service absolutely sucks and they've left me embarrassed and upset. Avoid at all costs, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.

The free samples are fine. However, they offer cash back on some products, but rarely deliver on that. Only order a "cash back" product if you would buy it full price, because they probably won't be sending you the promised money back.

Hi, I'm Influenster! Just jump through these forty hoops, spend a lot of your own money, and MAYBE we'll send you a prize!

They just sent me another offer to get $2 off my choice of $20 and over products (that I am supposed to pay for) so that I can post photos, tweet, and tell everyone about the product. Yeah, I'm going to do your marketing so that I can get rejected for ambiguous prizes... these people must be on crack.

I laughed and deleted their email.

I've been a member for a couple of years now. Getting products is not easy. You have to spend endless hours engaging with other users, submitting reviews, and completing surveys that they call "snaps" to potentially qualify for products. I've never received high end products; instead, I've gotten a few pharmacy brands. At this point, I haven't received anything in the past 3 years, but they still expect me to be active on my account. I emailed them to ask if there was anything wrong with my account or any limitations, but they said my account was in good standing and that I just didn't qualify for the products for whatever demographic reason. Long story short, with the amount of time you spend here you might as well get a job, get paid for it (which is guaranteed) and buy the stuff yourself.

The only reason Influenster is in business is to harvest your personal information and sell it. Unless you like having your email account flooded with spam and con artists targeting you, I suggest you steer clear of this place. Oh, and don't listen to the phony reviews praising Influenster for all the free stuff they give. They don't give out anything. On rare occasions they may toss a bone to someone, but that is only to keep the scam going because they are making tons of money selling your private information. Beware of this place. It is very dangerous.

When I first signed up, I received Vox Boxes regularly. Good stuff -- pricey beauty products, even a car seat system. Fast forward 6 years, and now I get nothing, no matter what I do. I suspect that it's related to my social activity: either because I refuse to post on social (never have, and it was never a problem before) or because my following is small. It's a bummer, because I really enjoyed the site.

Being harassed on other social media sites by employees of the app, including attempts to dox, is a no in my book. That crosses multiple lines. If you have anything negative to say about your user experience, they will find you on other apps. It's creepy and a safety issue. It used to be a decent site. It's gotten unusable since the merger. Employee aggression against users was the last straw. Don't give your information to these people. It's not safe.

Scam. Don't waste your time. I spend thousands of $ at sephora a year & this app didn't send me even 1 product to try. Not very smart seeing as im always kind in reviews unlike the crazy amount of bad reviews people leave on sephora, after actually getting a box. They just want reviews on old stuff & not actually promote anything. Oh & now they want to manipulate people taking photo reviews. Showing you how they want product pictures to look professional. Yeah I'll do that, right now. If you want a few tampon join influenster! If you want luxury products forget it, not gonna happen even if you're a frigging Rouge that would actually buy it & not just leave a snarky review after getting it. F+ OH yeah and the drug dealers on there is insane just posting blatantly offering fentyl, pills even horse tranquilizers. Trash.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use it. They're just fishing for free reviews and have zero intentions of giving you anything.

Products used:
One single tampon despite them continuing to ask for reviews of luxury products they KNEW I bought at sephora. Applied for several boxes never received one. Total scam for reviews.

I'm disgusted with influenster. I found this site when it first came out, and I told so many people about it I cannot even believe it. I am generally a happy person and if something is cool- I will talk to you about it. It is not cool. I dedicated hours reviewing my favorite things, including a detailed phone review that probably could have been used by the company itself and saved them from hiring a new employee. I'm not sounding too happy here- but the point is that if you want to dedicate your time to positively influence, make a blog! I wish I had typed everything on there instead of wishy washy sites like this. It is all the excitement of what you might get, very rarely do you get anything at all. Get a blog and maybe check out a subscription box. Best wishes

Sites like this are responsible for over inflated reviews that consumers think are true in turn making us, the consumer, waste our money based on fake reviews. Some people do say they received free products for review. I think a lot of reviews on websites are fake and anyone being paid (either with money or with free products) for giving reviews should have to state that in the review and I don't think they all do so. I only shop online and I make my decisions based on honest reviews not reviews that were paid for. I think this practice should be outlawed.

I love this site, the opportunities are awesome. It is, however, a little hard to get picked for a Vox Box which kind of sucks. But as long as you add all your social media and work at building it and your inflenster score you'll eventually get one. It's also important to stay active with the group and participate in any of the Twitter and Instagram parties they host.

Okay, personally I think its pretty ridiculous how many people complain about this app/website. They're very straight forward. Their ultimate goal is to exchange products in return for your honest opinion.

HOWEVER there is no guarantee you will get anything. Here's the thing, if they send out a product in exchange for a review. They want that review to actually be seen/heard to advertise the product. So a big factor of you receiving a voxbox is based on your impact. And they also want quality reviews. If you're posting short vague reviews it's likely that you won't get picked often.

If you put in the time and effort to build up your impact score and write quality reviews, the odds of you receiving a voxbox will increase! It may take a while but you are getting it 100% free.

I personally have earned some sweet products, that I love!

If you're willing to actually work at it, then it's worth it!

Yes, you get free stuff. But it's not really for your honest review. When you get a box, they ask you to do things for a "badge." But all of those things include things like "tweet how fierce you are with xyz product" or "tell your friends why you love abc product." Some are even "create a Pinterest board with xyz product." How is that asking for your opinion?! That's you giving the company free advertising! And most reviews are "I loved this product! Thanks influenster!" without any serious review of it (pros, cons, etc). I couldn't stand sharing some of the bad products with my friends so I didn't earn my badges. Oh well...

I've been on Influenster for a while, have done a ton of reviews and interaction, and the first two months received a single inexpensive item to review. I truly feel that the majority of Voxboxes are targeted to people 18 to 35, as no one above that age is observed reviewing the better boxes on social media. There are even literal beauty experts and professionals who complain about not getting voxboxes for months, and they have large social media followings. Meanwhile twentysomethings with very small followings get deluxe boxes to try and review. Kind of a waste of time for 35+.

I've gotten so many absolutely awesome products from Influenster for free in exchange for my real honest review! They aren't asking for lies, they simply want the truth! And I tell ut exactly as I see it and experience it, and have recieved such fantastic products! Look at the photos, those are from just the last couple of months!

Tip for consumers:
I recommend this company if you are looking to recieve free products in exchange for a truly honest opinion and review, and if you're willing to be very active in their app!

Products used:
All of the beauty products they send me, as well as health products and coffee.

I have been a member for about 4 years. At first, before they sold the company, I would get awesome VoxBoxes. From companies like Dior. But I haven't gotten one in@ least a year, despite busting my butt on that site doing reviews and snaps. It's all based on your number of followers now whereas before it wasn't. This is really unfair to those of us who have been loyal to them. My advice: Unless you have all day to spend on social media, don't bother trying to get a box from these people.

Tip for consumers:
Don't waste your time.

Influenster is an app and website where people like you and me post reviews. Why post reviews besides genuinely liking to help people out? Like anything they ask a lot of questions just fill it out. They send you surveys based on your likes and dislikes. You fill out the surveys and you will either get a voxbox or not. Yes in the beginning its kinda a pain filling out all the snaps. But once you do it, it's done. Plus I have been with them for years. It's worth it. I'm a no body and have received high end brands like Dior. Helpful hint connect all your social accounts it helps your impact score. ( better chance of getting a voxbox. You never pay for shipping or anything totally free!

Tip for consumers:
Connect social accounts.

You have to earn badges, write a ton of reviews, create product lists, take surveys, link and bombard all your social media accounts(fb, twitter, vlogs, blogs, pinterest & take screenshots of all your activities) with their products and so far i've gotten ONE voxbox after doing all of that. It isn't worth your time. So much effort for a $9 product.

I have dark age spots covering most of my face and i noticed that on the second day of using The Forever Flawless Limited Edition White Diamond Beauty Set it is beginning to get lighter and my face is smother. I am amazed at what this product can do. Would highly recommend this product.

I love Influenster, it was a slow start at the beginning earning badges and and finally getting my impact score to high but after a few months I was on the short lists for campaigns and have received one box so far. I think it's a great way to try new products when you are a good fit for the campaign and it's also a great way to become more engaged with your followers, become a true influencer and share your honest opinion on products.
I've seen lots of people complain that they have to do too much for the products... You are receiving free product(s) to reveiw if you are selected for the campaign, if you want a guarantee of products constantly, pay for them through a subscription service such as Ipsy.

Just be honest with your products it's very important that your views know how the products are if is makeup than you test out the products your self and give your honest opinion about the products because your views and your family and friends and clients are going to see what you are doing and they going to want to know how those products are if it's good quality or it's ok or not good meaning they look for your opinion so there well know if there going to buy the products or not but it the look up to you

I really love influenster. I can agree with another poster who has mentioned the site is more for product "pushing", however i am always honest in my reviews. I have had badges that have asked me to post a picture of a product on instagram with certain hashtags and what not. I have done so, but with expressing my true opinion for that product. I have received quite a variety of items such as YSL makeup, food products, panty liners, Sally Hansen products, Eco Tools, Rimmel make up and more. It's easy on my downtime to answer a few questions and do a couple tasks. I have added all my social media to the site and my impact score is "high". I'm not sure if that truly affects voxbox selections or what, but so far I'm loving the site.

I've been a member of this site since 2012 and have received 7 free "voxboxes" from them, filled with full-sized products to sample. I'm not a youtuber or a vlogger, nor am I anyone popular on the internet, nor do I have thousands of followers, and yet I've still received things from them. They give out free samples of everything from makeup to food to pet products, but you have to be patient if you want things.

I review things on the site every now and then and always give my honest opinion whether I like it or not; bad reviews do not affect you getting free samples. I don't see many people on the site lying about things, and have seen many reviews on many products from where people didn't like them. So I don't think people are overrating products just because they got free samples or anything like that.

Tip for consumers:
To up your chances of getting free samples, watch the new youtube videos they post and participate in the giveaways!
