I work on Amazon Mechanical Turk and there are many dollar amounts to be made. It is great for small amounts at a time. The money can go directly to your bank or Amazon account. 2 Draw backs I can see is the time it takes to get paid from some hits you do and being able to get paid through Pay Pal. That would be good if they did that.
I am so sick of being treated like this. All i wanted to do is get another going after i stopped using my old account years ago. That old account was suspended. Then i tried to make a new account and they said i am not "permitted" to work at amazon m turk. Truly disgusted with the unfairness. I hate being treated like this. I just get walled out for some ungodly reason. I hope you enjoy these bad reviews mturk cause im just getting started.
Mechanical Turk was originally a way for people all over the world, and in poor countries in particular, to make small amounts of money easily. By 2011, there were workers in 190 countries. Because a mastery of English is necessary, at some point Amazon started taking only American applications. (If anyone knows when the change was made, let us know in your review.)
Because workers are independent contractors, i. E. self-employed, the US minimum wage law doesn't apply. So there's no Turk in Third World countries, where a few dollars can be meaningful income, while Americans create all sorts of ways to be successful at working for pennies. That's the irony.

I tried to contact the company through their toll free number and customer service support was excellent. They asked me a few clarifications regarding my account details twice which I answered after which they permitted me to work from the next day.
The payment is sometimes good and the work type is varied and interesting. I find some of the tasks very well paying while some do not pay as much.
Tip for consumers:
Please be careful that you don't false information about your account. Also work on tasks that you are comfortable with. Most tasks offer preview mode which is useful before accepting it.
It isn't a scam but it doesn't make much money. According to Forbes "estimates of what workers can earn on these crowdsourced tasks range from about $1.20 to $5 an hour without any benefits. Employers treat them as independent contractors not covered by federal minimum-wage legislation".
In April 2012, I joined Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) and began earning over $600 per month through the platform until 2017. However, from 2018 to the present, my monthly earnings have decreased drastically to just $80. This is due to Amazon Mechanical Turk increasing their pricing from 20% to 40%, which has resulted in clients leaving the platform in disappointment. I am frustrated and saddened by this change, as the platform's management has behaved rudely and shamefully. This increase in pricing has resulted in losses for everyone involved - MTurk, workers like myself, and clients. It is disappointing to see such poor management decisions negatively impacting the lives of so many people.
As a requester I can say that more than half of the 'people' you recruit for your jobs will be bots or scammers. That's just how this platform works and Amazon doesn't care. If you want real results be prepared to slog through rejecting the same number of fake results. Also be prepared to have some fakes slip through.
This is great for me as a small side income. Pay a bill here and there it's obviously not a full-time job but if you're a stay at home mom it is a great way for extra money. It's very small pay it first but as you keep going some jobs will pop up you qualify for with higher pay. I have done my first transfer and everything went smooth. No problems yet. Hopefully it continues to go smooth
If I could give zero stars I would. I had a Mechanical Turk account but haven't used it for awhile. When I went back online to try to find some work, I received a message that my account was suspended.
Can't get a reason why or anything because all three requests I have sent to the appeals email they provide have gone unanwered!
Made a "free" AWS account as required. Within a week it was hacked and I was charged over $270. I was then forced to spend over 8 hours changing the settings for a "server/database" the hackers created as AWS claims they can't close the account or credit without everything being reversed by you. Even if you didn't want ANY of the scam services Amazon shills. It has been over 3 weeks and I still do not have my money back. Avoid this scam and AWS needs to go bankrupt. $#*!ing thieves
This is a joke. Amazon should be ashamed of this crap. The majority of the tasks don't work and just waste your time. Seroiusly makes me want to reconsider wether I should even continue doing business with Amazon.
Complete piece of junk. They reject your application without giving a reason. Am an AWS and Amazon customer, will stop using their products and services. They don't forget to bill you for their services and religiously follow up with reminders/alerts. But when it comes to supporting your side hustle initiatives, they give you a thumbs down. MTurk is a fraud
I tried to sign up with Amazon HIT, set up my account, and I get an email back saying that due to security restrictions they can't open an account because they can't verify my information. I have had the same address, email, and phone number for 20 years! I have been an Amazon Prime member for many years. When I called (several times) and sent emails, the response is they can't tell me why! They said set up a new email account and try that. This is astounding! Don't do it.
What a joke I could not use amazon turk because of the stupid amazon payments why? Because for some reason they disabled my account because they could not confirm my information, but would they tell me what info no. How can I fix this they said you cant. End of story. Well what a waste of time now my bank info and ssn are stuck on that site and because it is disabled I cannot even delete them! Customer service was a joke dont even bother calling
They will suspend/close your account with no explanations or details given even if you've had your account for over a decade! Even if you are a top performer and never had any issues. There is no one to talk to or appeal. You will not be able to access your account at all and lose all the money earned and pending. If you are making any money on there know that at any time they can close your account.
It's ok. I've been working on mturk for a long time now and I can tell you it isn't what it used to be. Now that they changed over to the new worker site it is even worse! I do the best I can on it with scripts to catch but, there isn't much work anymore. Mturk just isn't worth it these days.
I randomly received an email stating that MTURK was denying my application to be a worker and I will not be "permitted" to work with them. The thing is, I never applied. How did they get my information?
They do not mention the criteria for approving or reject your registration.

I changed phones and phone numbers, thought I had updated all my apps to use the new number. Turns out I forgot about Mturk. When I try to log in it tries to send a verification txt to the old number. I explained to customer service that it offers no other way to verify me. Not even through email. After going back and forth with customer service through email, and getting responses from them that look like copy/paste answers...I told them to shut the account down. It was a waste of time if they won't give support for there service. Id rather use the QMEE app. They pay better.
Tip for consumers:
For a company that normally has there act together, Amazon Mturk is a joke. No support, hard to make any money. Truly made me hopping mad.

Mturk surveys
Well if this email from them says anything, it screams idiocy. Here it is:

What the hell about a review process is proprietary? Are you kidding? What was proprietary about it? It is because they only hire Americans now. Because of this review, a friend here in Canada who uses MTURK has cancelled her jobs so now she will use clickwork.com
We deposited over $700 to run surveys in Amazon MTurks. They removed our access for non valid reason and have not response to numerous emails and have not giving our money back.
I called Amazon and they are no help since they said a different business.
I fond Bezos and Jassy's email and sent to them - no response.
These guys are terrible and robbers.
I applied for Amazon Mturk and I provided all my information correctly, then they ask for my documents to show my identity and I provided my passport and all information and all of them was correct but they still didn't approve me. My Amazon Mturk account didn't approve for payment and I emailed several costumer services but no one even helped me with this issue. There's also no number to call or talk to someone about this issue. When I get responses, they mentioned tó email *******@amazon.com. I emailed to that many times but never got a response. They get your information for free then suspend your account for no reason. This is insane.
They ban you for no apparent reason. When I found tasks that I can do and started making money off of the tasks. That is when they closed my account. These guys are crooked and scammers. The worst thing about that is that they are the only ones (yes, I've searched up and down the internet) that has a wide range of tasks. All of the other tasks sites either have way too few tasks or the tasks are just out right scammy in that they do not intend to ever pay you. MTurk has all of the tasks that will pay you as well as those that won't and if you find the right types of tasks for you, they WILL BAN you.
Now mturk become worst, all requesters left mturk because increase in commission from 10% to 40%. In 2013-2016 boom in work, daily 10 to 20 projects to work, but now 1 project in couple days. I don't know who is head of mturk, he is worst person.
Mturk sucks they closed your account without warning and when you send email and ask why they close the account they do not reply I send servral email and it has been over a month and no reply because they sucks and don't want to pay for work done and have no care for the employee.
I went through reading the instructions, answering all of their questions, waiting 48 hours, only to find out I'd been rejected with no reason given. Complete waste of time!
