I am soo pleased with the job that Ben and his helper Bob have done! He is polite, courteous and conscientious! He has worked efficiently and effectively in digging and planting new borders for me! I love my garden more than ever. Great price. Great service and a lovely person too. Would not hesitate to recommend him... next year I want him to return to re turf the front lawn. Thanks Ben!
I posted an ad on MyBuilder then selected a roofer to install some Velux windows in my house, based on them having decent reviews. Roofer stated he needed a down payment to purchase the windows, which seemed reasonable as it was approx £2000 worth. Roofer has now done a runner and it's only too late that I've looked into what MyBuilder claims is a verified review process: there's absolutely no verification required and anybody can claim to have hired a contractor simply to put reviews on there. Cost me £2000 to find that out

We paid £1000 to have our roof repaired and still it leaked. We had to get another company to inspect the repairs and they stated it was a mess. It will cost £1800 to have the roof watertight. In future I will contact Checkatrade if I require any work to be done in my house.
"VETTED" person turns up ruins our bathroom and they do a Pontus pilate! THEY claim they "introduce" when in fact they sell your details to people who they DO NOT vet. Online scammers.

We got them of mybuilder stay well away from them fitted my bathroom 3 leaks not able to use bathroom called text no response more cowboy builders of mybuilder site and look at the door he a joiner ffs
Mybuilder is great for securing work, can't fault it. However the feedback function can undo all your hard work with a few disgruntled customers - I mean we all want to be perfect in this world but keeping up 100% job rating is stressful and doesn't reflect reality.
The builder Big Bear Bros has taken over twenty thousand pounds stolen my hob my kitchen cupboard doors kept two radiators and left house unfinished. Due to him not paying his staff they expected money off me and when I refused they took their equipment yesterday morning after screaming at my friend and have left house unfinished. Not happy I got them from your site. Disgusted and I am now informing the police
From our past two experiences with a roofing contractor and bathroom installer through MyBuilder.com, this website allows potential crooks to quote for jobs and, when engaged, can be found guilty of practices contravening Consumer Protection of 2008 and Consumer Right Act 2016. This can cause customers to be left with unprofessional workmanship which must then be rectified by another contractor causing distress and further expense. Why are traders allowed to use the website without any form of vetting. Totally unacceptable.
Tip for consumers:
Ensure that the tradesme have been fully vetted and do not under any circumstance pay money up front. Ask for references, not just pictures.

Hi I'm a tradesman, Gas engineer.
This site is a scam.
You have to pay £10 odd to be 'shortlisted' for a job which means you can just have the supposed customer details.
I did this twice and the 'customer' was some random call centre in London.
So I think they have people create fake jobs to get money from 'leads' fraudulently.
I can't be bothered to pursue just paid £18 to stop getting harassing emails and deleted account.
Avoid my builder and rated people. They do not care if you get a trusted tradesmen as long as they get their commission on job leads. You could get a cowboy tradesmen and if your a good honest reliable and trustworthy tradesmen you can also fall foul of online fake advertising magazines. These include community first RC media who publish a fake crime prevention magazine and ask for payment for a magazine that is never distributed. I received 1 copy along with an invoice for £234. This is online publication fraud. I spoke to trading standards and they advised me about this scam. My details were passed on through my builder.
I had Niall who came to help with assembling my wardrobe, oh man was so incredible amazing, like the wardrobe didn't come with a manual he didn't stress but worked it out. I was really amazed of his work he didn't even take much time. He is kind I highly recommend him for any service you may need. Thank you once again for your good work Niall, and my builder your service is excellent. Thank you
Beware of reviews - if it's unfavourable or neutral they will find an excuse to delete it.
Also builders in here without insurance are carrying out work - one of them broke items and then refused to claim for them saying he didn't have any
Finally workmen are often rude to customers.
Tip for consumers:
Only use their messaging app that way they can see how it's going
Excellent site. As landlords we often need assistance very quickly, MyBuilder has been wonderful at getting a response from builders to jobs without the time consuming effort of looking through pages and pages of tradesmen, not knowing what they are like. The feedback reviews are priceless.
Easy process and communications came through well. Job was arranged and done well to good standard. At least you can pick tradesman that are under constant review etc and generally I have had no problem putting jobs on site
All I did was ask 2 builders if they'd like some work and Mybuilder website have been emailing me everyday with underhand marketing. I didn't even tick the box or give permission for them to contact me. Just 2 builders. Theres not even a unsubscribe link on any of the emails, which is illegal.
In our opinion and the information we have collated, MyBuilder website do little if anything to check out the Traders that they charge for using their website. And whilst with everything, there are genuine people and tradesmen out there, there are also those who are most definitely not. We have encountered a really poor bathroom/kitchen fitter from Abingdon, who is bankrupt, did not turn up, did not finish the job ect. However, as the Tradesman can put his advert on, do a couple of jobs and take the advert down, you are not able to leave a review, thus accurate records are not evident. The Tradesman can then, just re-open his account a few weeks later, and all previous feedback is closed. Take care
No quality control on tradesmen. They do no checks on tradesmen. Anyone can join. In my case they said they can't even contact the tradesman who has left the with half done and never returned. Later I found the tradesman had bailiffs and police after him. My Builder washed their hands off and took no responsibility. This is what they wrote:
"They are not our client, they are a member of MyBuilder, we provide them with a service. You are their customer and they should be addressing your complaint. I'm very sorry but I will have to close this case".
Joined as a trader, getting leads but they go out to all tradesmen and to many get shortlisted, they take about £250 for a loft project and no one get the job, client can list bogus projects or just list for a quotation without even wanting the works done, the only one that earns from it is my builder. Absolute bad management, rip off company. Even after my account is restricted they still allow client to shortlist you and charge you approx £50 a time. Absolute joke. There are much better company's out there. Watchdog need to investigate.
Would be good web page but unfortunately I guess they are cheating with fake job offers to charge the builders more. Lots of times I been shortlisted by client (what means have to pay fee to mybuilder) and didn't get any respond from them afterwards. Also I noticed that when you win the job they deleting other builders from the list. So it looks like just one person applied to that job.
Mybuilder.com makes money by charging contractors so it favors them. The contractors on mybuilder.com are very rude and many times dont even come to the site for an appointment and waste time. When you report this to mybuilder they wont do anything.
MyBuilder are the worst 'review' website if you want to get truthful reviews about the traders they charge commissions from for referrals from their site. The business model allows rogue traders who change identities to keep old 5 star ratings from closed businesses and does not remove rogue traders even when they are given documentary evidence of the dodgy activities that led to the trader changing identity. MyBuilder are clearly only set up for one purpose - to retain all the traders they list at all costs to keep their commissions flowing in.
The builder was wonderful to work with. Built a solid foundation and that was it. The contractors he hired to sheet rock, paint, put the finish touches that make a house like the cabinets (which were awful) and the trim inside were terrible if you use this builder hire your own contractors. The people at Dalton Floors in Jasper and his tile people were wonderful. Also the heating and air people, plumber and electrician were top notch. Just very disappointed the builder did not check things after the work of the cabinet person, we have a lot of cabinets and from the outside it looks good when you look closer you can see how cheaply it was made without any care or concern with how the inside doors and draws were designed with cheap wood. Loved the builder, wish he chose better qualified finishers. The paint job inside was sloppy and after many attempts still not finished to our standards.
Please all traders stay well away from my builder. They dont have the best reviews due to their attitude and behaviour when it comes to solving issues with accounts. Especially when it comes to charges and fees.
Closed my account and discriminating me for someone else despite having 100% feedback and never a complaint.
My experience is shared along with several other trades persons. The service they offer works like this you pay a fee when you are shortlisted but that does not mean that you are in with a chance to quote for a job. On two occasions I have been shortlisted and could not get the client to agree to meet with me. I asked for a refund from my builder and was refused twice. It now makes me think that there are bogus clients out there that do not exist very similar to dating sites loads of photos of people who are not members and are not available my advice is be very suspicious of My builder and certainly don, t expect a refund.
Used JDH Roofing for some general, the guys were brilliant and did a great job. Other people who I did not proceed with, we're polite and accepting. Do not touch TAFA Property, he got pretty abusive when I didn't proceed with his quote so had to report him to My Builder. A tender from AG Parker Ltd was not accepted and he called me unprofessional!
Official site - MyBuilder helps you find great builders and tradespeople and review feedback for work they've done. 98% of jobs get matched to skilled tradesmen.
Hi Mathew,
I'm sorry that you are unhappy with the service, but disappointed you chose to paraphrase our communication to you. We encouraged you on several occasions to contact the tradesman directly, which you refused to do. This left us with very little option as the agreement is ultimately between tradesman and homeowner. My colleague actually stated "I’m very sorry but I will have to close this case if you are not willing to communicate with the tradesman."
In regards to checks on tradesmen, we have a team dedicated to judging the quality of tradesmen before they join the service. 40% of trade applications are declined. Once a member, a combination of feedback and internal screening ensures that tradesmen are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Those who do not meet our quality standards are banned.
Kind regards,
Ben@ MyBuilder
