“Daughter had school trip to Italy from Australia”

Brett S.
1/24/15

Daughter had school trip to Italy from Australia. I unfortunately did not think about ordering a card sooner. At about 14 days out from leaving we telephoned and also corresponded by email to the wonderful helpful staff at Prepaid Zero. We were told it should take 8 days for the card to arrive. Unfortunate this was over the Christmas period and by the post marks it had left Europe very promptly but unfortunately in arrived 1 day too late for my daughters departure. I was worried I might never see my 86 euro again for this data and phone prepaid plan. After contacting them, I sent it back with all details. All ended very well.

A more effective use of your money would be burning it to send smoke signals. Took over a week's communication to get data working in the US, and, despite further communication, it did not work at all anywhere in Canada. Of course, their T&Cs absolve them of all responsibility, so no refunds or apologies.

Have used this prepaidzero sim in Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain.
Network coverage, internet speed were just fine.
I would recommend this product to other people, as it's easy to use and you only need 1 sim card.

I see other people having problem with texting like us. What is this "company"doing? The answers to the questions seem to be just sorry... but your problem never gets solved! What a waste of time and money!

We were given UK numbers - not Italy ones. When I asked about that they told me it was free to call and text UK numbers so our travel group could communicate with each other. I was only able to ever text one of them. Sometimes I would try to text or call and money would be deducted from my account. I could only complete calls to Italian numbers a couple of times in a month. I had thirty euros credit and was not able to use most of it and they would not refund it when I asked. I followed the instructions they gave me when i emailed to find out what was going on. My brother finally just gave up and got a regular Italy SIM card. Should have done that from the start. It's not that hard. Don't waste your money with this company.

Purchased 4 sim cards for France for myself and family with prepaidzero, very helpful staff that responded within 10 minutes after asking them a few questions I had about delivery time and compatibility with my phone. We used this in Paris and Monaco, for Paris it was very easy to use google maps and the sim cards even worked in Monaco without problems. Thumbs up for this service.

The only thing they proved to be good at was taking my money. Bought 2 SIMs for Germany. Texting never worked. Data was spotty and slow at best. Calls were unintelligible and dropped constantly. 2 requests for help were ignored.
If you go with this company you are wasting your money.

Don't do business with this company! My SIM was extremely slow and despite several emails I did not get any reaction! Their phone number reaches an answering machine and is never answered and never returned despite the messages I left...

Tip for consumers:
Don't use it...

I bought a T-Mobile card for Aspen, Colorado, in the Rocky Mountains. Activation went OK but I had no reception and was not able to call or text. Found out that only AT&T or Verizon have service there. Difficulty reaching customer service after my trip, little response and no chance of refund. Would not deal with them again.

Terrible service after purchase. Finally bought another sim in the airport and it was so simple and they were helpful! You could also get SIM cards at many local stores. That sim was 25% of the cost of prepaidzero as well. Don't use prepaidzero - in my mind they are disreputable

I usually buy sim cards after I arrive in a foreign country and It usually it talks a while before the card is activated. I was attracted to prepaidzero because it works in more than one country and is supposedly active immediately on arrival. Mine didn't work. Through email prepaid zero gave me the number of the carrier to resolve my problem.
The carrier said the sim card I had been given was incompatible with mobile phones. It is supposed to be used in a broadband device. I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was wrong. I am not happy. I have asked prepaid zero for a refund. I will write another review to describe how that goes. I am sure there are many happy customers. I am not one of them.

Hello, the purpose of the sim card is to offer mobile internet. Without having to use WiFi. If you can't connect using mobile internet, it's best to contact the provider's customer services number for further investigation.

This sim card is really a waist of your money. It doesn't work and you will probably be as frustrated as I am. When I am back in Holland, I will try to get my money back or maybe contact the authorities about this scam.

Don't trust them. I bough I all Europe SIM card with 2 go data and 30 euro of call and text. I tried to call an ambulances and the police in Paris during a terroristed threat. (I learned later that it was just teenagers with firework who caused a panic) Never worked.

Ho yeah, but the data worked! Seriously, what's the purpose of buying a sim card when you can't use it in the most needed moment!

Company sent me incorrect produc. Totally messed up our trip as a result. Customer services couldn't care less. Offered to repay difference but no apology, no recognition of their incompetence, no acceptance of responsibility. I won't be purchasing anything from them again and nor should you.

Thank you for your comment. After checking your case it seems that we indeed shipped an incorrect product. Our apologize for this. To further comment on your case: the product's data bundle was fully consumed by yourself and we could therefor only repay the difference between the products.

I used a sim card for America from prepaid zero for my iPhone 5s which worked with the AT&T network. AT&T had good coverage during our trip, also outside of cities.
As I own a small business I was happy being able to check my email at times and use it for google maps navigation. Definitely worth the money, with my own provider vodafone I would have received a huge bill, prepaid is good for travelling.

Bought two cards with 30 day contract (including 1gb and 0.5gb data) for 30 day trip to Europe. Worked fine through Italy, Croatia and Greece but, after 14 days and careful use of data (350 and 75 mb), was told data deal was for only 14 days and I would have to top up the data. They say 14-day period is in there but I cannot find anything other than a 30 day deal in my order or the receipt. I have received an impertinent response from their support group, telling me I am confused. Bad form and not a good deal. Never again.

The sim card I purchased for an Italian holiday did not arrive by the date I requested despite allowing more than 3 weeks. Not a good start. After inserting the sim it wouldn't work. After a number of e-mails back and forth with useless suggestions e.g. insert it into another device which I didn't have, I was advised to post the sim card back. The card was lost in the Italian mail system (allegedly) and despite acknowledgement that the sim card was never activated or used, Prepaidzero refused any refund, partial or otherwise, without the physical sim card. I would not touch them again and have advised 2 friends who have since travelled to avoid them and buy a local sim.

Purchased a 3 gb data plan for France. It's activated by sending a text message to a phone number, after which you receive a confirmation (in french though, but ok, it's a french sim card) worked fine for our trip in northern France.

Prepaidzero is absolutely terrible!
I've bought a chip card so that I would have Internet in the USA on my road trip and everywhere I went the speed sucked really hard. Been in 4 states and it was all the same. Sometimes the upload speed was so bad that I couldn't even send a simple email. If you have the possibility I'd strongly advice you to get something else.

We had two sim cards (Vodafone and Mini Euro) which overall had a good coverage and bandwith availability. You'll get a letter from them with the sim card and belonging instructions, so it's easy to get started.

I bought a card for Italy. Got a UK number, which was OK. But, I could not call another UK number, altho I could call other numbers. Tried to call for support, no luck. Repeated emails went unanswered. A total waste of my money, since I needed to call or text another UK number. I would never do business with them again.

Dear Patty,
Calling UK numbers should be working fine. Such issues can also be related to the receiving end user and need to be checked at on a case by case base.
Our apologies if this wasn't investigated in a proper manner.

Ordered two T-Mobile SIMs which were labeled as usable in US, Canada and Mexico for a trip through Canada. Both SIMs were activated according to the instructions, only one received a phone number.
Neither SIMcard had ANY data whatsoever. Support told us once to 'enable roaming' and simply mailed a PDF with the instructions we already had, to no avail of course. Requested a refund but all communication was ignored.
The phone is never answered. Our tickets were closed without any confirmation or even a reply. Bad, bad service and a waste of money, effectively inditinguishable from a scam.

Tip for consumers:
AVOID. Wish I had noticed the huge amount of 1-star reviews sooner.

Dear Jeroen W,

The mentioned sim card subscription had a lot of technical issues until November 2017.
We can confirm that the provider has been replaced in the mean time, so such issues should no longer occur with our current USA sim cards.
If there were any unresolved tickets/issues you may contact us again. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

I have bought a prepaid sim card for my trip un Australia and i cannot reach the support bu phone or email, i ask to be refund and i did not get answer from the support, i have sent 2 mails when i was un Australia and when i came back in France but still no answer, unbelievable!

I bought a prepaid sim card with 3gb of data for 45 EUR, and when i arrived in Sydney i got a text which said: Sorry that recharge was unsuccessful. Please contact ******* to speak to an agent and note that the maximum plans that can be applied to one account is 12.

I have to spend Time on phone with the local phone company Lebara to credit by myself data credit that were suppose to be credit in advance. I payed 32 EUR to credit 1 gb of data by myself.

This is not acceptable that prepaidzero support or the phone number support dors not answer.

When a service is not due we must be refund.

Verified purchase

The card arrived timely in Singapore and worked well in France and Belgium.

However, when I was attempting to top up, I had to give a UK address which I do not have as I was holidaying in Europe.

I ended up not having data for the last two days of my holiday.
