on 11/13/20As an independent private school, RLS is not required to follow the Common Core Standards. RLS goes beyond common core to offer a lot more. Every year, we review the RLS curriculum—every book, every assignment, every process—and modify it as needed. Our curriculum will continue to be uncommonly rigorous, inspiring, and transformative, with or without Common Core. And while our standards are rigorous, they are not rigid. We also retain the leeway to engage all different types of learners at RLS, while our curriculum so thoroughly prepares our students for all forms of standardized testing. The Common Core is focused on helping students achieve certain standards; RLS curriculum is focused on preparing students to achieve even higher standards.
