To be able to check the interests in your area you need to go to the section for posting a room. This section appears in green on the right-hand side, at the top of the Home Page.
From there you will need to enter the address, to select some details about the room and to register your email address. Once your ad is created, you can go to the Search section and see all the profiles for potential flatmates. This is absolutely free and does not commit you to anything.

If you prefer, I can also do the search for you. If you send me in which city you are, I will be able to send you the number of potential flatmates that are currently looking for a room in your area.
