Hi, Ive just turned 40 and had a hysterectomy and oopherectomy 1 year ago. Im in surgical menopause and have been told not to take oestrogen going forward due to cancer risk. On having a recent dexi scan, i have osteopenia -2.4 which is close to osteoporosis. Without oestrogen can i really reverese osteopenia? Many thanks Niyad

I would recommend getting these things:
Recommended amounts of calcium, Vitamin D3, and some magnesium if needed for the calcium.
Do weight-bearing and/or resistance exercise regularly.
Get regular DXA scans to track your bone density. If it takes a dramatic drop, or steadily heads down over time, or if you experience an osteoporotic fracture (low-impact fracture) seriously discuss with a doctor knowledgeable about treating you and your osteoporosis.

Yes, eat dairy products and search online for other items high in calcium, take a calcium supplement 2x daily with Vitamin D3 2x daily, walk daily for a mile, use weights to exercise your arms, and talk to your family doctor or nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
