I am very happy with TaxBandits, because their site is easy to follow, customer service is real people (not bots, unlike another similar service), and they are super helpful and fast. I will definitely use them again and highly recommend this company.
With a slogan like "Take Your Time Back" the interface was painfully slow and difficult to navigate our 990 EZ. Jumping around sections was next to impossible. Ended up abandoning ship and using a different platform altogether.

I used two other online providers. After dealing with poor, or no customer service and clunky interfaces, I decided to switch again. After using TaxBandits over the past year for my payroll, I've come to love the interface and the ease of navigation. Customer support is solid and very responsive. The price is competitive. Plus, I LOVE being able to quickly find prior filings and print off the form AND the acceptance confirmation.
I submitted 1099s which TaxBandits filled out with addresses that were not verified by me and which were incorrect. They assume no responsibility for the errors and refuse to correct them. Don't use them.
Filling the forms out is very slow, as if they were using a 56k modem. My net connection is fast with all other websites so the problem is not on my end.
Attachments don't look very good, for example a date of April 15 sometimes shows up with the date and time. Other times there is a very limited number of characters allowedto enter information.
On one section the software does NOT calculate the total but I have to enter it manually. I had to amend my return because of this and I had to pay $49.95 to do this. I will search for another co. To use next year.
SCAM! I was contacted by the IRS that they never recieved a single forum from taxbandits. I then called their support line and they couldnt give a actual confirmation number or anything that I can give the IRS as proof. Basically a waste of time and money. Now there are penalties bc TaxBandits decided to steal my money and not for their job. SCAM!
I had an unfortunate experience with Christina from Tax bandits. She wrote" because you failed to comply with a missing 8543 form we are closing your account permanently". When I called to explain that the client moved, could not be reached, and changed tax preparers, and that I filed the form 940 manually. She was unmoved.
I tried calling the main office of SPAN Enterprises, LLC to speak with Agasthian Sundaram, listed as the principal on the SC LLC filing. I was told he was not available to speak with me and that Christina " called all the shots"
Do not trust these people. I did not have the correct time for filing the 990N. I sent the info and it was rejected, but I cannot have a refund because they were involved. The only reason I used them was because it came up on the IRS WEBSITE. I will be contacting the IRS.
All great, raving reviews. Businesses hire companies to write good reviews. No secret there. Well, here's one bad and negative review based on my experience.
My non-profit organization filed its 990 N via Taxbandits, not realizing that it also could and should have been filed FREE through the IRS's website. The mistake was acknowledged less than one hour after submission of the form, however Taxbandits refused to refund our money.
This type of greedy, money-grubbing behavior is antithetical to the principals of nonprofit organizations who depend on honest members of the community for furtherance of their programs and services to populations who rely on them. Taxbandits is guilty of false and misleading information, as well as unethical and unfair business practices.
I am filing a complaint with the attorney general in my state and also intend to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. The IRS needs to know that Taxbandits is falsely representing that nonprofits have no other option than to file their 990 N through its website and not the IRS.
I really like Tax Bandits, they are fast easy to use and reasonably priced.
I have used them for years and have not had any issues.
The customer support was amazing. Took care of the typo I had. Quick and easy. Highly recommend. They support IRS and all the 50 states too
The company made multiple errors in processing and filing my client's 990. For what I paid them I expected much better service than I received.
First, they neglected to check a box on page 1 authorizing the IRS to contact me as the Preparer, after they told me I should e-mail them after filing the return, and they'd take care of checking the box before filing. The feature wasn't included in their software until several users, including me, complained about it not being there; then they added the feature.
Because they forgot to check the Preparer contact box, an amended 990 had to be filed. They prepared the amended return and filed it before I could review it. When I did review it I discovered they omitted several significant amounts on Schedule A. I then had to prepare another amended return myself so it would be done correctly. I had to spend several hours of my time I couldn't bill my client for.
Within a couple of weeks I requested a refund of 75% of the fee I paid for using their software, as recompense. The best they could do, their rep told me, was to issue a credit of 30% or $21 towards my next tax return preparation using their software.
Obviously, to save themselves $40 or $50 by not issuing a refund for poor service means more to them than their customers' goodwill. I'm a CPA with several 990s to file and was treated this way; imagine how you'd be treated if you only have one return to file with them and they made all these mistakes!
The good things I can say about TaxBandits and their service is that their 990 program is fairly easy to navigate, which is helpful when preparing a 990, and that their customer support was helpful and supportive for the most part.
This is my first time using the TaxBandits service but it is very user-friendly and I am very happy with it.
