Hudson's Bay has a rating of 1.4 stars from 233 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Hudson's Bay most frequently mention customer service, gift card, and online order problems. Hudson's Bay ranks 482nd among General Apparel sites.
Love the selection at The Bay. Recently tried to use a new gift card online and it would not work. Called customer service and, although it took a while to sort out, it was not the customer service person's fault. He stuck with it, resolved the issue and and even sent me a new gift card to replace the one that wouldn't work without me even asking for that.
I returned the item as requested and tracking number confirmed that they received it but nothing happen since then (no refund - no response). Of course, I sent an email and they mentioned that they will respond to my email within 2 or 3 days, but again, no news from them. What kind of business treats their customers that way? The amount of my invoice was more than 600$ for multiple items. Very disappointed.
If I could grade my experience online shopping, zero starts would be their score. Let me start by attempting more than three times to register at the site to not pay for shipping. Which was impossible. Therefore I decided to pay for the $12 for the shipping.
After completing the payment for two twin duvet covers, I received a confirmation of the order. The next day, I received a notification of the shipment of the items, and just an hour later, they issued another notification informing me that they had cancelled one item since it had already been sold.
Here are my questions. How a company like HB has such poor inventory management?
How can a company collect the payment, issue a shipping confirmation for both items and hours later inform me that they removed one of the items since it was sold out?
How can a company like HB not be able to correct its own mistakes by offering a refund of MY MONEY but only offer a 15% off gift card for the inconvenience caused?
Is the HB so stingy that it does not refund the client's money, offers a 15% gift card, charges for shipping, and has an absolutely awful website?
However, I can say that "once upon a time, there was a glamorous department store which cared about providing flawless service." Never again, Hudson Bay.

I ordered a Ba&sh sweater on Hudson's Bay website at a great price (80% off) I paid 8$ for the shipping. However, the package was never delivered to me and ended up being returned to the sender (seems like they did not put the correct address). I contacted customer support because I still wanted to receive my package. But they told me the only thing they can do is to refund me... So disappointed! So I ask them to make sure to refund the shipping fee as well but they said they could only refund the fee but not the taxes! So I end up paying taxes for a package that I never received because of their error! This is unacceptable, will never purchase from them again!
I rated 1 because it's the minimum, but I'm willing to give it a 0 rather, I made an online order for 6 item, I received only 5. Upon checking with them the answer was that they packed them all and so they would do nothing, I'm not only been stolen but also been indirectly accused of making up this story…
Purchased a furniture item during Bay Days. It turned out to be of poor quality. Because it is from the third party vendor it seems to be nearly impossible to return. The customer service call in time is over an hour on hold, to say they will start a return... only to get an email two days later saying because of a situation with their third party vendor... returns cannot be initiated at this time, with no timeline to resolve. This from a national retailer? Will never order online from this organization again. Consider yourself warned.

No one will tell me how to return my order I placed. It didn't come as described and now I want to return and customer service just tells me to be patient. It's a SCAM. Do not order from The Bay.

Nothing. Total garbage and NO refund.
On-line product are not provided by the Bay but third party sellers - received wrong product, no response from third party seller and no response from the Bay about providing a refund on a product I have not received. Only bots on line or responses from out of country people. No longer a reliable company. One star is too much in my opinion.
It seems customers are an annoyance for staff at the Cosmetics counters at The Bay Stores. They would rather stand & talk with their co workers than serve customers. If you do get their attention it's not with a smile or any politeness. After finally getting served & spending $300, I noticed when I left the store the cashier never gave me my points. I went back to ask & was told they don't do that anymore, & that it was too late to claim them. I plan to cancel my card & shop elsewhere in future. One time I can accept bad customer service but this happens all too frequently at The Bay. It's a shame cause I wanted to support a Canadian company.
On The Bay purchased expensive Pajar boots. Totally falling apart within Pajar warranty period of 6 months. Pajar says warranty is not applicable since bought online through The Bay. The Bay says deal directly with Pajar. At a loss.

I have bought a Geox shoes for my toddler through their website. I didn't even notice it is final sale. It was just 20% off. Why would it in the first place as final sale for such little discount?
I contacted them after receiving the shoes right away and as any respectful company they should try to return or exchange if the shoes were faulty. It is size 8 which is supposed to be bigger than my son's foot and it turns out to be smaller and tight. The customer service did not even try to negotiate or try to compensate for that. It was a firm no return/exchange policy and they can't do anything. I am very disappointed. I have a HB gift card, I will use it and then I will never show up or buy anything from their company. So disappointing!
Tip for consumers:
Yes they need to improve their customer service or otherwise they will lose their customers overtime

I had ordered two special mugs as part of a gift. One came broken and Canada post sent a notice acknowledging the break, so I thought, easy, the bay can get their money refunded (10.00, by the way) and they'll surely solve my issue in time. I was shoved off to some woman from some other country who had a child screaming in the background. It dawned on me that the Bay had outsourced their "customer service" to someone who would accept absolute minimum pay and would give the customer the runaround so they'd never have to deal with it. She kept telling me to take a picture and send it to her. I did! Three times! It still wasn't enough for her to resolve the massive ten dollar issue🙄. She spoke such broken English that I couldn't even understand her most of the time and when we were able to communicate she just kept telling me to send pictures. I kept telling her that I had sent pics but she was ignorant of it. I finally was so frustrated and angry that I just brushed it off and left it. It wasn't worth that much stress for a 10.00 item. But they lost a lifetime loyal customer over a 10.00 item and they didn't care. I used to love shopping at the bay and never understood peoples' complaints but I sure do now. That all happened two years ago and I've never been back. Several friends and relatives have also stopped shopping with them. Sad. The last big Canadian company is absolute crap.

I purchased a Samsonite NXT suitcase at the BAY today. Retail value according to The BAY $575.00 less 60%. I came home and looked up the suitcase for reviews ect. It turns out that this suitcase RETAILS at $224.95. No sale! Just marked up and stuck a sales sign up. I will be returning the Samsonite Winfield NXT Spinner Medium Expandable Luggage -Charcoal and cancelling my BAY Credit Card ASAP
Me and 3 friends were sitting on one of their couches for a few seconds to decide where we're going next and an employee snapped very rudely at us to get off the furniture if we're not going to buy and when we got off to walk around the store she shouted at me to place a pillow I had slightly displaced. After that we looked at the candles and were deciding whether to get one or not but then saw probably the manager aggressively walking towards us. We went to wait between the doors to the parking lot and the store when he yelled and gestured for us to come back and then we did and explains that we were waiting to be picked up, but he then screamed at us and kicked us out of the store to just wait outside in the cold and rainy weather. Overall VERY bad experience.
Ordered a couch from The Bay. UPS was delivering the couch today. I waited all day for the couch and it was left in the entrance of the building. The delivery person did not even contact me to see if I was there and to bring it to my door. I had to pay someone to bring it to my apartment because of the weight. I am really nos impress since it was written no where the package would be left at the door of the building.
Bought some bowls from them online, came in simply single layer wrapped in a very large box with a lot of empty space, half of them were broken in the package.
Contacted customer service both through Email with photo and called, didn't get resolution.
Tried to order pants that had a 30% off to be reflected at checkout. That didn't happen so called Customer service where I was disconnected from first call then second call had them telling me it was only the colour I wanted that wasn't on sale. When I proved that none of them were coming up on sale at checkout she basically said she couldn't help me. If I wanted to escalate I would have to wait 48 hours for a manager to assist. The Bay is prehistoric with its dated technology and uninformed staff. Terrible as they used to be a great Canadian brand.
I've been a patron here for many years but the service quality & ambience has taken a serious nose dive!
One or two rude female bar staff have completely changed the atmosphere & several of the lovely old boys who have been regulars for donkeys years no longer drink there... one of the female shift managers will bar you for looking the wrong way... she's OK with me but I've seen her disrespectful treatment of the older men & it's criminal... they don't have SMART phones and are made to feel like second class citizens just because they don't use the app... I'm sad to say this once vibrant friendly chilled pub is now on its way out!
Trying to find an order that they keep saying has been delivered courier doesn't have it. Try to get a refund keep saying it will be in your account next billing cycle. But as I have told them several times it was purchased with a Bay gift card. They don't read the messages you send.
Tip for consumers:
Don't expect a swift response from customer service they say they will get back to you in 48 hrs Then ignore you.

I order a pair of men shoes from The Bay's Market place. I wore them two times and they fell apart. I got in touch with the Marketplace sellers S3 HOLDING LLC. They email me and asked for pictures. I sent them the pictures with ordering information. They email that they would get back to me and instead they didn't. Now they won't reply to any request of mind. The prices of the shoes were so 64.00 dollars CAD, real cheap. I guess you could say I got what I paid for. I've given up. It's not worth my time and I believe this is part of their strategy and it works. Beware!

I order two items and Hudson's Bay store doesn't take them back; you have to ship the item back and pay for shipping. I paid $26.46 for the posting fee, and 3 weeks past, and still waiting for a refund
I contact them 7 times and complain; unfortunately, nobody cares.
NO customer service!
I never ever go to The Bay online shopping again; the company does NOT understand what is online business at all.

I ordered online and used lending company to pay. I got a deduction from my bank account since loan was approved but the item I purchased does not appear with my The Bay account. It seemed like I paid for nothing. I hope this issue gets settled soon. I will come back for a review how things go.
I ordered a $500 toaster oven which came with the upper corner dented in. As the packaging was good I do not attribute the damage to the Bay. HOWEVER, as the return process is complicated and I would have had to wait for a replacement, I asked if we could come to an accommodation that could make both parties happy. They offered me a $20 coupon - 4% of the purchase price of a VERY expensive appliance. I countered that I felt 20% would be more appropriate and they just stopped talking. No response to emails AT ALL. Maybe they just hope I will go away... not likely!
They ship you the wrong size garmets and don't assume responsibility...completely dishonest! Don't exchange or refund

My order never arrived, and I have been unsuccessful in getting a refund.
The Bay does not seem to screen or vet their sellers, and there doesn't seem to be any repercussions if they're faulty or a scam.
If your package gets stolen, they blame the consumer and not the delivery company. Even though they're insured for events like this, they refused me a refund because a "delivery photo" was taken. Doesn't matter where it was taken, as long as there's a delivery photo taken, according to Hudson's bay, it's "delivered". Now the onus is on the consumer to burden the cost. Don't even waste your time calling customer service, they just repeat the same thing to you over and over again.
Having shopped at this store for over 5 years, I have nothing but good reviews to give of the Hudson Bay store in Nanaimo. The Manger Maureen Richardson, is superb in her leadership of employees and very understanding. Whilst the employees are courteous and go over and above in order to provide a superb customer service or order a product. Recently, Elizabeth in cosmetics not only assisted me but was dedicated in seeking further information. As promised she later took the time to call me be back with this information later that afternoon.
