Of course buyers are satisfied. They are getting other peoples' brand-name, like-new clothes that has been stolen by ThredUp. Buying from ThredUp just supports their dishonest and shady business practice.

I have both bought and sold on the site. DEFINITELY not happy as a buyer, as they take poor photographs, have almost no description, have a complicated returns policy and sell items from 1980 with a "estimated retail" price as if they are brand new. It's clearly not an ethical company in any way.

I'm a first time buyer and not happy at all. They do not seem to care about properly categorizing and labeling their products accurately or honestly. I wear a child's size. I ordered several pairs of shoes that were supposed to be an adult 4-4.5. An adult women's 4-4.5 is not the same as a child's size 4-4.5. When they arrived they did not fit so I went to the brand website. Turns out that company does not make adult women's shoes in that size. I also received a pair that was size 9.5 and one that was boys shoes not girls. They need to get their act together and properly categorize their products. Shopping with them should not be a crap shoot.

This is probably a fraud/scam. Too much is beginning to add up. The negatives The phenomenal cutback on payout to consignors is a major red flag. Suspect something is going on. Stay away

If you're expecting a huge payout on your bag. You will probably be disappointed.

A couple of years ago Thredup paid more for items but now their payouts are pretty low.

For me. The clothes I send are either going to sit in a bin in my attic to go a donation dumpster in town.

So sending the "a little too nice to donate" items to Thredup and making $20, $35 for a bag is worth it.

If you're attached to your items and think you're going to get a huge payout for your "favorite expensive dress" or if you have the time and patience to sell thru a Facebook group or a local consignment shop... then maybe you would be happier.

I like the convenience of Thredup and I think of it as it's $20 more than I would've had!

Everyone that sells to thredup needs to understand that ALL the resale places that are similar will give you the same price. If you don't like what they give you, it's simple then don't send them your stuff. I've never sent them stuff because I know I can sell my own stuff for more.

Sellers who are angry did not read the terms and conditions or even glance at the payout matrix. I would not sell anything that I would not donate; then even a few dollars is icing. It's deluded to think your worn jeans from a season ago will command the same price as they did retail; clothing isn't valued like that. I see most angry sellers inevitably declaring the value of their submissions to be same same as retail, which is highly unrealistic. I would advise anyone selling to browse the site for similar items in similar condition and closely review the (not secret) payout matrix.

I'm with everyone else here. They will rip you off! Sell your clothes on Ebay -that way you set the buy it now price or min bid amount. It took nearly 2 weeks for my bag to reach them (I live in upstate NY and it was going to PA!) It then took another 5 weeks for them to even process what was in the bag and then another couple weeks for the amount they were going to pay me to reach my account so I could withdraw it! FORGET IT! I got a small sum for my designer clothes which they then sell at a HUGE mark up.

I am not satisfied and I am a buyer. I spent roughly 21.00 on my order with shipping. They will refund me 15.00 if I remember correctly. But it will cost me 8.00 to ship it back to them?! So why would I want to spend more money to send them back? I would only see 7.00 return for my original payment.

Scam scam scam - anything they payout they will deduct from the 12.99 for the return bag. As a seller I like tradesy. If you are buying I can't help you with your question

I've sent 3 bags each weighing over 10 lbs well as of today they havent moved from the post office and the first bag was sent out over 3 weeks ago. I'm at the point I just want my merchandise back... now...

I sent off 3 bags of stuff! Were is my money. If you all can't do right, you need to go out of business.

There is a new pricing policy that goes into effect on bags received June 1 2015 or after. Their payout on higher ticket items will be higher and lower on low ticket items. The selling prices will be more affordable for many items. Check out their new graduated payout policy on their main website.

I had good experiences selling them bags a few times, but most recently, I got only $2 for a bag of spring/summer items. It took them forever to process my bag(I sent in March; they did not process the bag until May, but kept me updated via email) so I imagine they were swamped with merchandise and my stuff didn't make the cut. There are a lot of variables as to why they might select or reject clothing: the amount of inventory they have of particular items, the season they are stocking, the brands they're accepting (which change frequently). I won't go as far as to say they're running a scam, but I understand why sellers are dissatisfied. It beats ebay, and if you're willing to pay return postage (I think that's $12-13) they will send your stuff back.

Well, I've never sold to thredUP because I heard that it wasn't a good idea, but have you checked out LikeTwice.com? It's kind of the same thing as thredUP, but I've heard much better things about selling to them than selling to thredUP.

Tradesy is the best place all the way as for selling and for shopping! To answer your question; I stopped shopping on ThredUp, for the price they selling these days I could find an online deal always.

I would never use this place again! Sending in North Face and Polo stuff, yet it seems to be "missing" when they give me my total? Think this place is a total rip off. Better off going to a local shop or just donating it and knowing that someone will wear it and isn't pulling a fast one on someone else!

I think you have to go through the pros and cons. For me I am newly divorced and on disabilaty so this is a great place to send in and get clothes for a decent price. I am mostly happy with this place, sometimes I get a bit upset when sending in clothes but most of the time I get around 20.00 or so for what I am sending... it is a good thing, but everyone has their opinion... try it for yourself

I had the same experience as Kendall R. I will never use this site again. I sent in two Sweet Pea tops one they took the other they said was too old. The were bought at exactly the same time. I also sent in a perfect condition, used only a few times $300 Kate Spade purse in its dust bag. They said it was used. I was just glad that I got a bag return with my original bad I sent in. I would have been so upset to see my things on their ebay site. I don't trust this company at all...

I usually only send them low ticket items in hopes I might get some sort of credit. If there's a "high ticket" item you might want to try ThreadFlip? I've never sold on there but I'm not much of a seller.

I wouldn't send any high ticket items you think you may receive good compensation for. In my experience they kept my item and sold it for 60+ dollars via their ebay store and didn't give me a dime. They said they did not accept my item because it was out of season, yet an identical item was for sale for an extravagant price on their ebay store which happened to be identical (same size, unique design, easy to tell it was mine). To me, they have unethical business practices. If you were planning to take it to the goodwill anyways, it will save you a car trip.

Sent bags full of gently used designer clothes... they were up to date... received NOTHING back... saw some of the same items online later... that were being sold...
As for buying, bought a Burberry sweater from them... it had been washed and shrunken down to a child's size... go figure... lol... they got me coming and going!
