So far this has been an honest, pleasant experience, I think the staff generally cares for the safety of their customers and continues to stay updated to protect us. This means so much to me "also adding that being able to talk to a live representative is awesome' especially so for we the over 60 crowd that's no longer in the loop due to the forever changing technology of today. Thank you TotalAV, as well as the associates that work for you. Kindly, Jeanine CA, USA
These companies advertise thru sms and email spam targeting users with 'virus threat detected' rhetoric. They offer a subpar product via subscription that is not easy to cancel. Good luck with refunds

Last year I paid their $19.00 sign up fee for premium, I realized that the antivirus given, even the full version, didn't detect anything, and instead used 10% CPU, and 30% RAM nonstop even while inactive. (I have a Ryzen 9, and 120GB of ram.) Upon this realization, i canceled the service a few weeks later and uninstalled every program and bit of bloatware that installed with it.
This morning i received a text from my bank asking if i authorized a payment of $119 for "TotalAVUS" and another $119 for "TotalAVUK" I stopped all transactions and locked my account down. I received a call from TotalAV urging me to reinstall and open my card back up to prevent the "Hundreds of viruses and hackers from infiltrating your pc daily." I just hung up on them.
Do not purchase ANY products from this company. If you are really looking for an Antivirus, just go with Malwarebytes. TotalAV is like trying to catch sand with chicken wire.
Tip for consumers:
The Antivirus: Does not detect anything. initial scan will say that you have a lot, but if you search your computer, none of these programs exist.
The VPN: could not change settings, and it SIGNIFIGANTLY slowed down a 500Gps connection to around 15mb/s on a bad day.
The AD-blocker: Did not block ads. it just scrambled my cookies, so all the ads were about random stuff.
Encryptor service: Really Really REALLY low level encryption.
Products used:
TotalAV Premium, the VPN, the ADblocker, its Encryption service, (and a few others that i forgot about)
I was charged an addon service after I had canceled all of my subscriptions. I never could speak to a live person on the telephone, but only through a chat box. They would not accept the words that I wanted to cancel everything I have associated with TOTAL AV. Finally had to go through another chat box to get the everything canceled. Unless you say the exact words (these words are unknown) then you have to convince them to cancel your account. They won't accept your words.
If I could rate this company 0.01 on a scale of 1 to 10 I would.

They have "noreply" emails & their "Help Center" {what I have found so far} consists of a whole lot of "seed" questions to pick from. They send me emails asking me questions from "noreply" accounts!
For identity theft prevention 1st month (?) 1.99
After 9.99
TOTAL AV (IDENTITY PROTECTION)
Sent them this email 4/9/24 - Came back as "no reply"
["Good afternoon,
I thought I was getting a service of having capable people protect me & my account but it looks like a whole lot of hoop-jumping I wanted to avoid. I don't see what it is you do but expect me to send you information in formats I've never heard of. I want to be able to contact you if I have questions or concerns & was expecting you to contact me if you found something! Silly me! So far it looks like I'd be paying you monthly for nothing because I don't know or want to know how to do these things myself.
I want to know if get emails from people I don't know, thanking me for purchases I haven't made, do I forward them to you?] <~~ This of course remains unaddressed because they didn't receive it.

This payment will appear on your bank statement under the name TotalAV.com. A transaction confirmation has been emailed to (you) along with an invoice for your records. You can also download a copy of this invoice using the link below, which contains important information about your service. All services will automatically renew monthly until you cancel. Should you wish to cancel, you can do so anytime via your control panel or by contacting our customer support team. I tried clicking where indicated but could either not get through or got a choice of seed questions to choose from that warranted me to do what I thought I was paying them to take care of!

This isn’t a product, it’s supposed to be a service.
I joined 2 years ago for $19. I did not realize this automatically set up to renew each year.
Aside from that, the second year they charged me $119. Unfortunately I didn't notice so they got away with that (they don't send renewal reminders). And now they have just taken $179. Again, no warning. I just got an email with the paid invoice, which is when I realised they had drained my account. I then spent half an hour online chatting to someone who, despite me saying I don't use my laptop or the service, tried to convince me to stay for a cheaper price even though he was told over and over that I want it cancelled immediately. He did not care how upset I was. He continued to ignore my requests and try to sell their service
I was sent a January special from Total AV, Quote: "This means that you can now protect your computer plus 2 additional devices with our award winning antivirus at our lowest ever price, just $14.95!"
I followed the link, paid my money and yep - Did NOT get what was promised. I got 1 computer and 1 mobile device covered.
I would stay away from this company. They are worthless!
The incompatible software screwed my network totally. I couldn't use my internet anymore. All my internet things went offline. They refused to refund me. Do not touch if you have Mac Big Sur.
There customer service is so bad. They are nice but could not help. I am extremely disappointed.
Tip for consumers:
make sure it is compatible

If they say everything is totally free, then this is only a half-truth. After you download the so-called free app, the anti-virus and firewall are disabled. You must pay them money to have them enabled. It may be a great program at protecting your computer, but I hate deceitful advertising and this is very shady, because it's not really totally free. I consider it a half-sham, but there is nothing innocent about it.

I may have signed up for TotalAV last year but I have no record of it and it is not on any of our computers. I received my credit card bill Friday afternoon, I called them on Monday 1st thing and was told that I had signed up for an annually renewing service last May (odd, we didn't put any new computers in service in May that I'm aware of) which I requested to cancel. So, they charged my credit card on 5/11/2020. I received the bill on 6/26/2020 and called on 6/29/2020. They are prorating the annual fee from 5/11/2020 to 6/26/2020. Apparently you are supposed to know that you have signed up for their serviced and cancel before it renews even if you don't know you have their service. There are many other services out there with higher ratings. I recommend everyone use one of them.
The one issue I have with TotalAV is it's insistence that all cookies are bad. It lacks the discernment to leave the ones that let web sites I do a lot of business at recognize my computer. I have had web sites I have used for years, such as my own credit union, or my Visa account, ask me to re-register my computer as legitimate. This was particularly annoying when I lost my Telegraph account when I needed it to connect with people in an organisation I needed to keep in contact with at a time when I had no cell phone. Telegraph would only let me back in if I had a cell phone.
This company is a complete scam. They suckered me into the first year with a discount, then tripled their price. I canceled the service at the end of the year and found a much better service at a fraction of the cost. Despite my cancelation, TotalAV charged me anyway. I have called and emailed them 10 times at this point telling them to refund the $149 fee that I did not authorize. They are ignoring my requests and instead spamming me with sales pitches because they don't want to issue a refund. BEWARE of this company. Their services are mediocre, over priced, and they will continue to charge you without your consent.
Tip for consumers:

Tried to cancel and their system would not let me. I had to write multiple emails to cancel and they claimed they did. I then keep getting pressure communications to renew. Had to block their ability to bill me. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Do not use. They sent me lots of reminders that my subscription had run out which I ignored as I didn't want to continue with the service beyond 1 year. They then took the money from my account without me authorising it. I am now going to contact my bank to block them and report it as a scam/fraud. It's impossible to access your account as you get stuck in a purchase loop and they dont answer emails and calls fail.
DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BANK DETAILS!
Total AV popped up it's window asking me to "renew" it mid boss battle in Elden Ring. His health was low. I needed like one more hit. Now my controller's broken. Thanks, Total AV!
Total AV is a Total Scam.
Took $99 from my Bank account then Cancelling my subscription.
They totally Suck and will not answer my emails
Ps.
Is ant that theft
If you purchase total av... buy it with a card you can cancel and throw away... or likr me it will take many phone calls... txt and finally closing your bank account
If you want to cancel they make you jump through hoops and the bombard you with offers and threats. If you use PAYPAL they say YOU have to block yourself via paypal or they will keep charging you even if they canceled your account. GREEDY, DISHONEST, SLIMY!
